Hi, I’m Melissa, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in trauma-focused therapy. I believe healing begins when we feel truly seen, heard, and supported. At The Reflection Room, I offer a calm, non-judgmental space where you can move through difficult memories at your own pace. I support individuals healing from childhood and relationship trauma, PTSD and complex trauma, anxiety, shame, and patterns rooted in the past. My approach is gentle, grounding, and centered on helping you understand your story.
Healing tends to come from within, rarely, if ever, does it come from “outside” of us. My focus is to draw from many therapeutic approaches so that your treatment suits your needs. Let me be open, honest, and authentic with you, “I’m here to help you, not fix you.” I make it a point to do my best to support anyone who makes the choice to change their life by seeing a therapist. Admit it, this is not an easy task, in fact, it’s scary and being scared is what keeps most folks from healing. It takes “a little rebellion” from within to wake up and seek help. My greatest passion is being a healer, and a part of that is empowering you to become your own healer. In therapy, the “client is the expert” and my approach can help you cultivate the ways to increase your personal growth, insight, and courage to help yourself.

I graduated from UMass Medical school and was trained in adult psychiatry at Cambridge Health Alliance, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital. Prior to going to medical school I received a Masters in Teaching from Boston University and worked as a teacher. This unique background affects my approach to psychiatry. I believe that a good psychiatrist should work with you to help you learn about yourself and your mental health. I am trained in a variety of therapeutic styles including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), psychodynamic therapy, supportive therapy, and Gottman style couples/relationship therapy. During my time at CHA I worked extensively with the Gender and Sexuality Clinic to serve patients of diverse sexual and gender identities. I also co-lead a group therapy for individuals in polyamorous and non-monogamous relationships. I have taught at the American Psychiatric Association’s specialized rotation for HIV Psychiatry, including lectures on how to provide effective telepsychiatry, and I have presented at a national meeting on teaching providers how to better work with patients to prescribe medications. I am a licensed physician in Massachusetts, New York, and California. I offer in person appointments in Somerville, MA as well as secure telehealth appointments to those residing in Massachusetts, New York, and California. In addition to medication management I offer individual and relationship/couples therapy.
Welcome! I'm glad you are here and you deserve the highest praise for taking this first step. I believe mental health is a spectrum of experiences and part of what makes us human. We can experience times when there are challenges to our mental health and times of flourishing. We all deserve a place to talk with someone who we know will not judge or shame us, but instead walk along side us, holding hope and strength until we can hold it ourselves. A bit about my approach to therapy: I offer approaches to therapy that are dynamic and relational in nature, incorporating a variety of modalities and perspectives (IFS, AEDP, Attachment based, etc). In our work together we can begin bringing awareness to the unconscious daily activity of the autonomic nervous system and how these bodily states impact our emotions and cognitions. What you can expect from our work together: A gentle space to land, recover, process, and heal from an unexpected change or difficult life season. We can be curious together not just about the “why” of an emotion but the “what” it feels like in the body and what the relationship with that emotion is. An encouraging voice on your journey to tend to, not only the needs of others, but also your own needs. A guide in cultivating curiosity and compassion for our stories and the ways they have shaped us.

I am experienced in counseling a wide variety of socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities, religions, and interests. I believe that we all have an innate healing power within us, and that developing a safe and caring relationship with a therapist can be a wonderful means toward enlivening this power. By going within, we can discover the agency to overcome any obstacle and can bring into being a renewed sense of hope, purpose, and a life of fulfillment. I come from a holistic, humanistic, and mindfulness/spiritually-oriented tradition who believe that a therapist is only as skilled as they are evolved, or self-actualized themselves. I specialize in trauma, dissociation, & complex post traumatic stress disorder. I have trained in EMDR and utilize Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Ketamine as a means of accessing the Self. I work with adults and children alike, and enjoy incorporating meditation, art, and play therapy. As a former creative producer with 20 years in entertainment, I also receive a great deal of satisfaction working with artists in the industry. I provide a warm and compassionate space of acceptance that encourages growth to unfold. By expressing feelings openly and connecting authentically we learn to resolve family and relationship issues naturally. Inevitably, this clears a path for greater intimacy with oneself and others, uncovering the full measure of our potential for love and joy.

Hello, I’m Alison. I help young adults who are overwhelmed, hopeless or anxious feel more in control and able to manage life's stressors and challenges. Some of the issues young adults have come to see me for include: relationship concerns, feelings of being overwhelmed, struggling to adapt to college or missing home, body image issues, life transitions, questions about gender/sexuality, and personal and family trauma. Trauma can include many things, such as relationship abuse, childhood abuse, illness, death, discrimination, and adoption issues. Using talk and somatic (body-oriented) therapy, as well as the expressive arts, I help clients connect to themselves and access resources to help them feel more at peace and in control of their lives. You will find me to be authentic, caring, and a dedicated support on your journey to healing. I bring compassion, mindfulness, and creativity to my work and consider it an honor to work with my clients. As a lifelong traveler who has lived in many places, I enjoy and value working with people from all walks of life. I look forward to meeting you.
