Therapists for college students near 80204
Are you feeling lost or disconnected from yourself or the world around you? Is everything changing and you don’t know where to find stability? Are you struggling to cope with your past and want to get back to who you truly are and what lights you up? I support women of all ages and young adults who are experiencing some kind of life transition, healing from trauma, or grieving a loss. So often we feel lost trying to cope with this wild ride we call life, but you are not alone. I work from a trauma informed and nature based perspective to help you deeply connect with the person you want to be. Together we can heal the past and shift the inner criticism that may be holding you back from living fully & confidently.
I work with many college students who are needing some support, guidance, and tools that can help them navigate their current life situation. I personally understand, from my own experience at college, some of the challenges and difficulties that can arise, so there is a lot of compassion and understanding for what you may be experiencing. I also have experience working with local students at CU. College can be exciting, fresh, and new. At the same, it puts us in completely new surroundings and situations. Overwhelm is natural. To any student who is considering therapy, I hope you know that overwhelm doesn't mean that something has gone wrong. It's normal when there are so many big changes taking place. My job is primarily to listen to you, and to really try to understand things from your perspective. This in itself is quite relieving: to be heard, seen, and understood. There's no reason for you to feel completely alone and isolated in your experience. Above all, you will find a supportive space in my practice for you to be at ease and be yourself. There are many wonderful counselors out there, and many not-so-good ones. My strong advice to you is to find a therapist who you really like, and don't stop looking for one until you find them. Before and during my own college experience, I had visited several counselors who I didn't have a real connection with. It wasn't until I was 22 that I found a counselor who I really connected with. Counseling should be a very positive experience. It is a huge resource in life. Trust yourself about what feels good to you - and go for it!

I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with nearly four years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges. My path into this field was shaped by a deep belief in the power of human connection and the importance of having a safe space to explore life’s complexities. I understand that seeking therapy can feel like a big step, and my goal is to meet you where you are—with warmth, authenticity, and care. I work with adults, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, relational stress, life transitions, and a desire for personal or interpersonal growth. I believe that healing happens when you feel truly seen and supported, and I’m committed to creating a space where you can be heard without judgment and empowered to make meaningful change.
You can do hard things, but you're tired, or wondering if things have to be this hard. You take care of yourself, but you still feel lonely or worried. People on the outside might say you're crushing it, but on the inside, sometimes you feel you're being crushed. You have big questions for which there may be no answers. I live in the same world you do, with its profound beauty and heartbreaking flaws. I strive to connect with my clients authentically, and sit with them as we contemplate difficult questions. If you are looking for a warm and collaborative space to process your emotions and maybe get some podcast recommendations along the way, we might be a good fit. Oh, and if the phrase “Highly Sensitive Person” means something to you (or feels like it should), I’ve got you. My clinical expertise is with the young adult population, having spent a decade working in institutions of higher education. My private practice clients are typically in the 18-40ish age range. At this time, my practice is fully online via HIPAA-compliant videoconferencing. Please note, this modality is not suitable for everyone.

Hi, I'm Jonathan. I'm a down-to-earth, easygoing guy. Beyond that, I'm also a therapist. I often find myself working well with those hoping to get more out of life, whether that involves building confidence, developing good relationships, creating positive habits, understanding your identities, or adjusting to new life circumstances. I'll listen without judgment to really understand you, but also gently push you to be the best version of yourself. After all, we're here to solve problems and find solutions. While therapy can look a lot of different ways, I've found that transparency, humor, and consistency are a few of the key ingredients. Personally, I have felt how transformative therapy can be (despite my initial skepticism). My hope is to be able to offer that to others too. You can connect with me by phone, email, or my website to schedule a free consultation. Let's see if we're a good fit.

As your therapist, I will collaborate with you to create a safe environment where you can explore and understand these complex experiences and how they may impact your life today. My style of practice is warm, compassionate, and receptive. I believe that you are the only expert on your life and I will do all that I can to be a useful tool as you move towards shaping the life that you want. My approach is a combination of cognitive processing therapy, strengths based, and mindfulness based techniques. We will focus on discovering your strengths and using those as guiding principles as we navigate the journey together. You don't have to figure everything out on your own - I am here to help. College and young adulthood can be exciting, but they can also bring stress, uncertainty, relationship challenges, academic pressure, anxiety, and questions about who you are and where you're headed. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or simply not like yourself, therapy can provide a space to slow down, make sense of what you're experiencing, and move forward with greater confidence. My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. I believe therapy should be more than just talking about problems—it should help you gain insight, develop practical tools, and create meaningful change. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and trauma-informed practices to help clients better understand themselves, improve relationships, and build resilience. I work with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship and communication challenges, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, and school-related stress. As both a Licensed Professional Counselor and a school counselor with extensive experience supporting adolescents and young adults, I understand the unique challenges that can come with balancing academics, relationships, family expectations, and personal growth. Clients often describe me as warm, genuine, and engaged. Together, we'll explore what's keeping you stuck, identify your strengths, and develop strategies that fit your goals and values. I provide virtual therapy throughout Colorado and offer services in both English and Spanish.
I believe that therapy is a unique experience that provides a safe place to assist in acknowledging resiliency, providing hope and cultivating healing and growth within individuals and interpersonal relationships. All clients come in with their own personality, strengths, struggles, and differing walks of life. In order to match this, I operate from a person-centered approach and emphasize each individual’s strengths to empower and challenge them to grow while assisting in defining their own goals and successes. While I have experience in working with individuals, couples and families, I have found that my passion lies within helping adolescents and young adults navigate the challenges that naturally come along with this exciting, yet stressful season of life. As many clients come to therapy not of their own choosing or with skepticism, I place emphasis on building a therapeutic relationship with validation, trust, accountability, candid feedback and a little bit of humor as needed! Enough about me, I can't wait to learn more about you! -Ashley
