I use a holistic collaborative approach to counseling that recognizes our unique multidimensional nature, and honors the connection between mind, emotions, body, energy, and spirit. Personal empowerment & healing emerge when we make conscious healthy choices in the present moment, in doing so we liberate ourselves to pursue our inherent purpose and gifts. Do you want to live your life’s purpose and share your gifts with the world? Lasting change is created through this empowerment that gives you the strength and awareness to deepen personal resilience. I blend a model of evidence-based therapeutic techniques with non-traditional spiritual knowledge and practices like mindfulness. Through compassion, present-moment focus, and somatic guidance, I offer support unique to what you need for your individual situation. I specialized in working with those with chronic pain, illness, and health concerns, but also have particular attunement to those with trauma and PTSD. I offer an integrative, mind-body approach which utilizes methods like ACT, MBSR, MBCT, and DBT. Together we can tailor an environment of safety and stability where you can start your healing and growth.
I believe in empowering my clients to access and to unfold to their own inner wisdom and brilliance. Rather than providing all the answers or solutions, I facilitate a supportive and non-judgmental environment where clients can investigate their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. My academic journey has taken me to many different countries, and I am passionate about combining my interest in western psychology with the ancient wisdom of Buddhist psychology. I earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Canterbury University, New Zealand (2009) and her master’s degree in motivational psychology from the University in Zurich, Switzerland (2012). She also holds an additional master's degree from Naropa University in contemplative psychology. I bring my unique blend of experiences to her work. Among other adventures, I have worked in Zanskar Valley in Ladakh, Northern India and has studied psychology in Nepal, Indian. I have also taught Yoga and Yoga therapy to athletes. I take a trauma informed approach to therapy, combining her training in Somatic Experiencing with other contemplative approaches as well as elements of IFS, Polyvagal, solution focused therapy, and positive psychology. Offering therapy online.
I specialize in treating women who are experiencing relationship issues (including relationship to self!), life transitions, trauma, grief, anxiety, and existential crises. I enjoy working with people in crucial early adulthood as they are working to navigate new worlds, further identify selfhood, and chart a life path.
Who I work with: - People who are fired up and ready to do this - “Refugees” from conventional eating disorder treatment who are ready to finally get to the root of the issue - Folks with some sass, fire, and rebelliousness (with a soft and sensitive core) - Quirky go-getters, nerds and misfits, and outsiders with undercover witchy tendencies - People who want better relationships, emotional resiliency skills, and a healthier relationship with food and their body - People who’ve tried talk therapy and have an inkling there’s something more: a deeper, more soulful connection to themselves and all their inner parts. *I welcome folks of all identities and sizes How I work: Is it frustrating for you when people tell you to “just let it go” or “be kinder to yourself”? As if there were some switch you could flip…if you just weren’t so stubborn / clueless / goofy. First up: there is no such switch. (If there were, someone would have patented it by now). Second up: suggestions like this, no matter how well-intentioned, almost never work. They can also leave us feeling frustrated and like failures. Self-compassion and emotional healing are trickier than most people (or cutesy magnets) would have you believe. Myth: Just talk through why you feel this way and you problem will vanish. Truth: Real healing takes more than head-knowing. It’s a whole-bodied affair. This is why typical talk therapy - where you come in, sit on a couch, share how you feel - often falls short. You leave feeling like "ok, I feel a little better, but now what?" So I work a little differently. Still talk, still insight, but more connection to body, intuition, and emotions. We get beyond the "why" and get to the actual "how" of real change. You can read more about my approach at www.stephaniesmallhealth.com. I’m a licensed clinical social worker and nutritionist. I received my BA from Yale University, my MSW from Smith College for Social work, and certificates in Holistic Nutrition Education and Mental Health Nutrition from Bauman College and the Academy for Addiction and Mental Health Nutrition. I ran the nutrition program at a substance abuse recovery center in Denver for two years and have trained in trauma therapy, internal parts work, somatic therapies, and more. I currently maintain a private practice online and in Boulder and Denver, CO, write for national and local publications, consult for mental health agencies and substance abuse recovery centers, and speak at live events.

Hi there, I’m Sydney - I work with people who are looking to heal their relationship with food and find freedom from the mental obsession of a number on the scale, “right” foods, “being good”, bingeing, restricting, over-exercising, and chronic dieting. I believe that the path to feeling at peace with your body and the foods you eat is a unique experience.
The state of our world can be so heartbreaking that we feel immobilized at times. Much of our potential is blocked by feeling overwhelmed by the day to day challenge of struggling to advocate for ourselves in our communities, the world, even in our own thoughts and beliefs! It is easy to feel anxious, alone or ungrounded. As a therapist, I have immense respect for the innate knowledge and wisdom in each of us. I strive to create a collaborative environment in which you will feel supported in developing an intimacy with yourself and your experience, allowing you to free parts that are stuck in or burdened by past experiences. I emphasize serving individuals that experience marginalized identities and see myself as your co-conspirator. I work with issues of identity and non-normative experiences, in the context of gender, sexuality and queer experiences beyond that framework. I also work with and acknowledge the grief and trauma associated with the crises of our society, species and planet. My approach relies primarily on internal family systems or (parts work), narrative therapy, as well as Buddhist psychology. Our work together will emphasize somatic experience as a way to directly contact and understand how we are impacted by the world while developing the outer and inner resources to respond empowered with choice.
I specialize in supporting individuals from Asian, Asian American, and multicultural backgrounds who navigate bicultural or multicultural experiences. Additionally, I work with individuals who identify as Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs) or Empaths and have experienced childhood relational trauma. I offer contemplative somatic psychotherapy and coaching services. Contemplative somatic psychotherapy and coaching are integrative approaches that combine mindfulness, body-based practices, and talk therapy to explore the mind-body connection. This therapeutic method focuses on understanding how emotions and experiences are stored in the body and utilizes techniques to promote healing, self-awareness, and personal growth.
I am a queer cis-woman of color, and an immigrant from Denmark and Comoros. I am passionate about fiercely challenging systemic oppression and empowering people to reclaim their innate power. As a somatic and social justice psychotherapist, I guide and empower clients in the discovery and celebration of your authentic self. Through both my work and my own lived experience, I have developed a critical awareness of the relationship between trauma and oppression. In the therapy room, you are able to gain bodily awareness and skills on how you can move more fluidly in expressing and embodying you own unapologetic truth that is too often silenced by society I specialize working with marginalized populations, including people of color, QTPOC, bilingual individuals, immigrants, queer people, and trans and gender non-conforming individuals. As a multilingual psychotherapist, I provide counseling in English, Spanish, French and Danish. I provide both in-person and video sessions.
