Therapists for college students near Boulder, CO
Hello. I am Dr. Rhoda Lipscomb and I am a certified sex therapist and coach who specializes in alternative means of sexual expression. I work with those who need help with issues of AB/DL, BDSM, kink, fetishes, open relationships (swinging, polyamory, designer) as well as issues of anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life transition, and stress reduction. I have 30 years experience in the field of mental health counseling and have been in private practice for 16 years. I provide all services virtually using video conferencing. While I provide psychotherapy to those within the state of CO, I also offer mental health and sexuality coaching for those in other states. Many college aged adults can benefit from working with someone who specializes in sexuality, however most sex therapists and coaches in private practice charge rates that are difficult for college students to afford. I have made my fees on Thriving Campus much lower than my usual rate so it can be more accessible for young adults in college who are struggling with sexual issues as well as anxiety, self-esteem and life transition.
My specialty areas include relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, identity & sexual orientation issues, & all of the psychological issues that arise in adulthood. I have particular expertise in the area of the psychological needs of couples and families including a special focus on young adults and all the issues they face. Psychotherapy is sometimes the most effective way to begin to blossom. The slow and comfortable establishment of mutual trust will come first as we work to fully understand your unique personality and situation. Together we will explore the the source(s) of pain or struggle in your life & identify practical, workable solutions. You & I will work as a team to ensure you have the support you need as you begin to feel better about yourself and your life. I am Licensed Psychologist and National Register Health Service Psychologist licensed in several states: North Carolina #PP5378 New York #014934-1 Florida #PY10042 Hawaii #PSY1720. I practice in Charlotte, NC but I also provide telehealth, which means that in most cases my services are also available online. Let me know whether you'd prefer to meet in the office or online. I have a fully encrypted and private online office at https://doxy.me/dramyhecht. Whatever your life situation, I look forward to joining you on your journey into healing.

In our sessions, you’ll have the space to slow down, explore what’s beneath the surface and move toward balance, empowerment and healing. I work with adolescents, young adults and adults who are experiencing anxiety, past trauma, grief or major life changes. My approach is warm, collaborative and client-centered. I find that life transitions can be overwhelming and feel lonely. Life transitions can look like anything: leaving home, starting college, loosing your job, finding out you have a chronic illness, getting married, getting divorced, loosing a loved one, having a baby, or discovering you're an addict, to name a few. Sure there's books on a lot of different subjects and friends can be helpful. But everything has it's limits. Maybe nobody seems very willing to listen, maybe that's even just it, there's nobody to listen, or maybe you don't want to overwhelm others. I put on a lot of different hats: listener, advocate, leader, cheerleader, challenger, teacher, validator, coach, researcher, or surrogate. We do whatever it takes to get you to the point where you feel like you're done with therapy. Most often I find people feel that they are done when they feel at peace.
Hi, I'm Larry - owner and currently primary therapist at Growth Odyssey LLC. Thanks for stopping by! I prefer to utilize a relaxed, approachable style to facilitate easy conversation and connection. I change therapy modalities periodically to best match where you are at with your process. I can use humor to help cut tension and set a pace for conversation that doesn't get too overwhelming. I believe that good therapy is like searching for treasure underwater - we want to go down, sift through the sand and mud, look for buried treasure, and periodically take moments to come up for air. I'm happy to meet you where you're at in your journey and help you find your way. I'm trained: I received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UCCS Colorado Springs with additional training for addiction treatment. I've completed trainings for EMDR, ACT, trauma informed care, and many other areas to give me a well-rounded toolbox to work with. I'm experienced: I have worked in most levels of care, from weekly therapy sessions to inpatient rehab for substance use disorders and hospitalization for suicidal thoughts and severe psychiatric distress. I've experienced working with a broad range of issues which means I likely have some experience related to what you are going through.
My specialty is treating individuals with ADHD, anxiety, perfectionism, mild depression, stress, decisions about college majors, transitions, medical diagnoses (e.g., cancer, diabetes, struggles with weight, infertility, pregnancy loss). I use an integrated approach, but mostly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My theoretical orientation is based on the Biopsychosocial model. A little bit about me: I'm a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and I've been working in health care (mostly primary care) for about 9 years. In my free time, I enjoy being with my family & dogs and you'll typically find me hiking or somewhere outdoors.
We all deserve the opportunity to be our best selves, heal from the past, and create the lives we dream of living. There is power in connection and self-discovery. With professional support, let’s uncover your wisdom and move towards a brighter future.
“Hey there, I’m Brandon! I conceptualize therapy not as a static moment in time, but as an active, winding journey. I utilize Narrative and Somatic Therapies to challenge problematic stories we tell ourselves and rewrite our roles in them, learning how to live presently and understand emotion, especially as it exists within our bodies. Additionally, I specialize in trauma work with Brainspotting and Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to heal and integrate adverse experiences. My joy has been in working with multi-racial/cultural clients, the LGBT+ community, and other adults dealing with life transition! The individual who usually finds the most growth with me is someone who is ready to enact positive, healthy change in their life and build/foster beneficial relationships. My client can rely on me to challenge thoughts and behaviors that no longer serve, but especially to support, encourage, and be a safe place to land!”
Feeling down, anxious, or stuck? I specialize in treating anxiety and depression with adults and teenagers. I also work with relationship issues and provide couples counseling.
Much of my work focuses on removing emotional and psychological barriers that keep people from expressing and enjoying who they truly are. Expect to discover or remember aspects of yourself that thrive in authentic relationships and meaningful pursuits.

Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, the Rocky Mountains provided a beautiful backdrop to a variety of educational and professional experiences. I received my doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Denver, where I obtained specialized training in psychological assessment, substance misuse, couples psychotherapy, and university counseling. After completing my training in New Orleans I have continued to provide mental health services for university students, individuals, and couples. I have extensive clinical experience with adolescents, emerging adults, middle age adults and over seven years of direct clinical service for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. A commitment to cultural humility and anti-racism remains a central value in my clinical practice. Individuals and couples of all races, religions, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, abilities and relationship identities are welcome.
I believe our world can be so fast-paced and suffers from a lack of presence. This can result in isolation, not feeling heard, or feelings of overwhelm and stress. If you need a place to set your burdens down for a moment, I am able to give you that support. I feel equipped to help you if you are struggling with any trauma, grief, attachment wounds, neurodiversity, career guidance, anxiety/depression, or men's/women's/general identity challenges. If you are feeling burdened or hurt, you are not alone. I encourage you to reach out to me. Even if we are not a good fit, I enjoy helping you to find a therapist who is!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) and a graduate of CU Denver’s Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. I am passionate about working with newcomers as well as anyone experiencing life transitions, trauma and post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, and religious trauma. I am a member of the Green Cross Academy of Traumatology and a certified Compassion Fatigue Educator, Compassion Fatigue Practitioner, and Field Traumatologist. In previous lives, I have worked with college students in South Asia, in adult ESL and refugee resettlement, and in a working windmill in my hometown of Holland, Michigan.
My practice primarily serves LGBTQ+, queer, trans, and gender-expansive adults, alongside individuals navigating complex trauma, relational patterns, and perinatal mental health concerns. My clinical approach is supportive, affirming, trauma-informed, and grounded in relational and attachment-based frameworks. I integrate an awareness of how systems of power, identity, and lived experience shape mental health, and I strive to hold both individual healing and broader context in view. I have specialized focus in complex trauma, including childhood trauma, relational trauma, and attachment wounds. Many of my clients are exploring identity development, processing experiences of minority stress, or seeking a therapeutic space where they can fully express their gender and sexual identities without needing to justify or defend them. I also provide affirming care for individuals during pregnancy, postpartum transitions, fertility challenges, pregnancy loss, and other reproductive experiences. I am particularly mindful of the unique emotional and systemic considerations that may arise for LGBTQ+ individuals and families during these periods. While no therapeutic space can be perfectly free from the impact of broader social forces, I am deeply committed to creating a therapy environment that feels brave, collaborative, and respectful. I engage in ongoing consultation, supervision, and continuing education to support culturally responsive and identity-affirming care. My work is guided by trauma-informed principles, a commitment to equity and inclusion, and respect for client autonomy and self-determination. I view therapy as a collaborative process where clients are supported in deepening self-understanding, strengthening resilience, and moving toward meaningful change.
Do you struggle with excessive worrying? Do you find yourself avoiding certain situations out of fear or nervousness? Do certain situations trigger you emotionally? Are you always striving to be the very best academically while being hard on yourself if you don't measure up to your own expectations? If any of these scenarios sound familiar to you, I can help. I have over 12 years experience working with people who experience issues related to Anxiety and Trauma. I also specialize in helping people overcome Perfectionism and other issues related to Over-Achieving. I utilize cutting edge, evidence based therapies including EMDR, Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help people overcome their challenges. When I work with people I try to see the world through their eyes while also providing new perspectives. I help people understand the origins of their problems while helping them learn new skills to manage symptoms. I often utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help people resolve trauma and anxiety. This cutting edge therapy can alleviate symptoms more quickly and thoroughly than talk therapy alone. I also love working with college students! I provide both in person and tele-therapy.
