Therapists for college students near Denver, CO
Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about the path ahead? You're not alone. I'm Sara, and I'm here to support you on your journey towards healing, growth, and empowerment. If you're tired of feeling controlled by anxiety or struggling to navigate life's transitions, I am here to support you! Using a combination of EMDR therapy, cognitive-behavioral techniques, and holistic approaches, I work collaboratively with clients to uncover underlying patterns, process past traumas, and develop effective coping strategies. My approach is rooted in compassion, collaboration, and a deep respect for your unique journey.
Hi! As a clinically-trained therapist, I want you to know that the struggles you face and the traumas you have experienced do not have to define you. You have the ability to create a new path for yourself, to live the life you really want to live. I would love to help you create that life. As a Christian counselor, I believe God created perfection and placed it all in the Garden of Eden. Unfortunately, sin entered the picture and people have been struggling with the effects of sin ever since. Sometimes that struggle is beyond our resources and understanding. We need to have someone help us through life's troubles. I work with adults, couples, and teenagers. I am interested in helping my clients deal with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship issues, spiritual issues, marriage issues, trauma, and others. My husband and I have been in church ministry for over 40 years. We've seen a lot. While I am passionate about my own spiritual walk, I do respect the journey each person is on. It is not my place to dictate to you how your walk should look. God is big enough to handle that part all by himself. I am married to a pastor, have two adult children, and one son-in-law. I dearly love spending time with my family and sometimes try to do a craft project.
You and your life isn’t one note. You are multifaceted and the demands you face happen to be as well – particularly when you are a student. Currently, the sound-track of your life has moved away from the sounds of a harmonious symphony -or maybe from an upbeat pop song- to something more unnerving and stressful (like the alarm you use to wake up to in the morning or the background music in a horror film—building tension, bracing yourself from some known or unknown threat). It makes sense that life has been overwhelming -increased responsibilities and life demands alone would contribute to this feeling. Add fears about the future, a recent breakup, challenging relationship dynamics with family, and/or other stressors and you might find yourself tipping the scales of your emotional bandwidth. I help students focus on the unique aspects of their lives that are no longer serving them – with empathy, tools, problem-solving, and emotional healing and growth. I believe you can have a richer and higher-quality of life– free from the overwhelming influence of your current life demands, harmful past experiences, poor modeling, and environmental toxicities (psychological). I believe in the power of real human connection. Everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and valued exactly as they are. My style is warm, client-centered, and grounded in curiosity. Alongside open dialogue, I use evidence-based approaches like ACT and DBT to help you manage anxiety, build stronger coping tools, and navigate life’s curveballs. I work with adults (18+) facing big transitions: starting college, figuring out who you are, exploring relationships and sexuality (including LGBTQ+ identities), or feeling stuck between worlds. As a bisexual therapist and someone who’s moved across cultures, I get what it’s like to question where you belong or how to move forward. I also support clients dealing with health challenges, athletic injuries, sexual health, chronic illness, eating disorders, and body image concerns. Outside of therapy, you’ll find me adventuring in the mountains. I see therapy a lot like a tough hike: challenging, sometimes uncomfortable, but deeply rewarding. I’m honored to walk alongside you as you find your own path.

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and transgender man whose work centers on understanding how trauma shapes people and supporting healing from those experiences. I also specialize in working with LGBTQ+ clients, offering care that helps people feel seen, affirmed, and understood—often in ways they may not have experienced before. Life is heavy when you are disoriented after leaving a belief system or being alienated and trying to cope while longing for healing when all you want to do is rest. I create a space of safety, curiosity, and genuine connection for people making sense of what they've lived through and the world they now inhabit. Together, we build understanding and gently create more room for relief, peace, and self-trust. It's okay if therapy feels intimidating or confusing, and it's okay if you don't have the right words to begin. If meaning feels distant, your mind won’t quiet, or the past keeps intruding on the present, you’re not alone—and I may be a good fit. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting or fixing what happened. Often, it looks like feeling more at home in yourself, having greater choice in how you respond, and finding moments of steadiness—even when life remains complex.
