I have a Bachelors of Art Degree in Psychology from DePaul University and a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology from Adler University, both located in Chicago, Illinois. I've worked with children, teenagers, and adults struggling with significant emotional and behavioral challenges for 16 years and have found that no matter the difficulty things can improve with hard work. Whether one's goal is emotion regulation, behavior change, or the exploration and cultivation of identity and meaning, the use of a therapeutic relationship based on honesty, authenticity, and mutual respect can have a profound impact on one's life course. While this work is challenging it can be life changing, allowing a person to develop their talents and gifts in ways that enrich their lives and the lives of others. My clinical specialty is work with young people who are struggling significantly with their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, including those who have not found therapeutic success elsewhere. I also tend to work well with kids and young adults who are undecided as to their interest in psychotherapy, and who have strong personalities. I have extensive experience with complex psychological difficulties and believe that successful therapy requires dedication and hard work on the part of both participants. I also believe it's important that this work includes a search for meaning and understanding on the one hand and the development of practical, useful life skills on the other.

As an art therapist, Ryan utilizes art and art making to facilitate communication and help her clients gain insight into themselves. She is experienced in using various art mediums to help clients navigate complex situations and explore their identity without the added pressure of needing to verbalize their thoughts. No prior art experience or high level of art prowess is needed for art therapy. Art therapy is about the creation of art, not the appearance of the final product! Ryan takes a client-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approach to therapy, utilizing principles from narrative therapy and choice theory, as well as Trauma-Focused CBT to inform her work. Will is a psychoanalytic candidate with the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis and practices an integrative approach to therapy that is rooted in psychoanalysis, drawing from experiences of working in residential therapy and community mental health. He is also trained in Child and Parent Psychotherapy, an evidence-based practice that works to mitigate the negative effects of trauma by strengthening the parent-child bond for young children aged 0-6 and their caregivers. Will believes we all make sacrifices to try and fit it; he believes this to be the origin of many of our symptoms which he understands to the be the reasons and experiences that bring clients to therapy. We try to be good workers, family members, and citizens, but oftentimes, in our struggles to fit it, belong, or be good human beings, we lose sight of something inherent in ourselves. “Fitting in” has a price. If you’re coming to therapy, the price probably feels too costly. No matter how hard we try, sometimes we don’t fit in or we feel like an outsider or an imposter. We might feel like there’s something we’ve lost or something we’ve never had. People who hear voices, live through anxiety and fear, think or experience the world differently, and are in mourning have a place in my practice. Will offers a place to relationally understand these sacrifices and symptoms; to discover where they come from and make space for something new. Through a therapeutic relationship built on trust, respect, and collaboration, we’ll work to understand the choices we unknowingly make and look to untangle the knots that oftentimes get in the way of living the life we want.

Hi! We are a team of therapists with a special focus on emerging adults navigating the pivotal transition into college and adulthood. We understand the unique challenges of this stage, from the pressures of academic responsibilities and perfectionism to struggles with self-esteem, depression, and anxiety. We’re also here to help with relationship, roommate and friendship issues, as well as concerns around dating, sexual health, and identity. We approach our clients with cultural humility and create a non-judgmental space for all types of relationships, sexualities and genders.
Therapy works best when we start with a strong working relationship and center our approach on what works best for you. I will always start by getting to know you and collaborating on goals. Together, we find the tools and frameworks that respond to your strengths and preferences. You are the expert on your own experience. I practice a Neurodiversity Affirming (NDA) approach that affirms the full and natural range of neurological diversity and human development, supports self-advocacy, and rejects a conceptualization of “normal” that pathologizes difference and marginalizes communities. Nothing for you, without you. I take a person-centered, integrative, and relational approach with individuals from all backgrounds, utilizing trauma-informed and NDA lenses. As a therapist and Social Worker, I strongly believe in identifying the social, political, and environmental factors that impact your well-being and the harm within the dominant culture. Whether it’s a particular life transition or the compounded impact over time, I will unpack the complexity, grief, and potential with you. It’s your story. I’m here to help you decide what happens next.

People often come to therapy to try to understand something: something about themselves, their relationships, or their past experiences. I enjoy joining my clients in these moments of exploration with warmth, attunement, and collaboration. I specialize in working with people of marginalized experiences and identities. If you have ever felt like an outsider because of your identities, past experiences, sensitivity, gifts, or because of how you live in this world, you deserve a space that is dedicated to your healing and growth. I specialize in working with marginalized folks including queer, trans, kinky, polyamorous, and neurodivergent clients.

Some things are hard to put into words, which is why I draw on art-making, body-awareness, and other expressive tools alongside traditional talk therapy. Based in Chicago’s North Center neighborhood and available throughout Illinois via telehealth, I work with children, teens, and adults at a pace that allows them to fully express themselves, understand their stories, develop self-compassion, regulate their nervous systems, and build coping skills that work for them. In our early sessions, I spend time getting to know you, what brings you in, what has and hasn't worked before, and what you most want from this process. I specialize in walking with those navigating childhood trauma, PTSD, grief, anxiety, and depression. My approach to therapy is relational and grounded in an understanding of trauma, while drawing techniques from many approaches, including ACT, parts work, play therapy, and expressive arts. Faith integration is also welcome in our work upon request. My goal is to create a nonjudgmental space for you to honestly and authentically share the funny, uncomfortable, confusing, and painful parts of life. If you’re looking for a therapist who will slow down, listen deeply, and truly value your story, please send a message, I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey.
Do you find it challenging to relax and enjoy the present moment? Are you struggling to quiet your inner critic? Do you have a hard time sitting with intense emotions, naming them, and expressing them to others? I work with female and queer clients who want to feel more grounded, present, and empowered in their lives. Things such as trauma, substance use, anxiety, and depression can impact our ability to connect with our bodies, feel our feelings, and experience safety in the present moment. At the end of sessions, I offer Reiki, a Japanese energy healing practice that reduces stress, eases pain, and promotes deep relaxation. In addition to talk therapy, I offer somatic therapy: Brainspotting (which is similar to EMDR) and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. Somatic therapy uses a bottom-up approach of feeling vs. thinking. The body contains so much intuitive wisdom, and being able to sit with challenging sensations – in a safe and controlled way – can lead to better emotion regulation. Therapy can be challenging, so I strive to provide a light-hearted, non-judgmental space where humor and laughter become a part of the process. If I could be a good fit for you, email me to schedule a free consultation, or to schedule an initial session.

Life can sometimes move too fast, too slow, or just become a bit too much. You may feel overwhelmed, frustrated or discouraged as you try to keep up, while the world around you continues to change. Your thoughts run on overdrive, you feel stuck moving through the motions but no closer to where you’d like to go. In our darkest moments, we often need someone else to shine a light on our capabilities. I believe there’s strength in every person, even when it feels out of reach. Wherever you are on your path, I hope to honor your lived experience while also noticing the glimmers of change as they come. Together, we will identify the root of what’s holding you back, strengthen intrinsic motivation, and take steps toward meaningful, lasting change. Drawing from an integrative, holistic and affirming approach, I work with individuals and couples from all walks of life. With training in Somatic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Gottman Method, Motivational Interviewing, LGBTQ+ and neurodiversity affirming practice, I weave experiential methods of therapy with evidence-based interventions. I love supporting people to gain self-insight, and build better communication skills that support fulfilling and intentional relationships. Sometimes the first step is the hardest. If you feel that my approach may be a good fit for you, I invite you to reach out. Whether with me or another counselor, it would be a privilege to witness you on your new path.
