Clinical Social Work/Therapist
Chicago, IL

Everyday Psychotherapy Chicago focuses on helping clients bridge the gap between insight gained in the therapy room and meaningful action in daily life. Our goal is to create a collaborative space where you can develop practical, evidence-based skills — emotional regulation, communication, problem-solving, and self-awareness — and actively practice them outside of sessions. Whether you’re navigating stress at work, deepening relationships, managing ADHD, building resilience after loss, or striving for personal growth, therapy becomes a rehearsal space for real-world living. We work together to translate concepts into concrete strategies you can use in everyday moments — from morning routines to high-stakes meetings, from quiet reflection to important conversations. At Everyday Psychotherapy Chicago, change isn’t limited to our sessions — it’s woven into the way you think, feel, and respond in your daily life.

Do you struggle with feeling guilty after eating certain foods? Have you tried diet after diet hoping that the next one will finally stick? Do you feel obsessed with food and what your body looks like? Is overeating and binge eating common for you and/or do you struggle with restriction? Do you base your worth on the number you see on the scale? Are you hoping to finally stop calorie counting and learn how to eat intuitively? If any of these questions sound familiar, you are in the right place! While working with me, you will learn how to: build meals and snacks that are both physically AND emotionally satisfying, build trust with your body again (or maybe for the first time), decrease binges and/or guilt experienced with certain foods, and gain freedom once and for all from obsessive feelings about food/body image!

Faraz Sultan, MD
Psychiatrist
Downers Grove, IL

Dr Faraz is passionate about both discovery and the practice of psychiatry. He trained at Rice University as an undergraduate and moved to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he was part of the Medical Scientist Training Program, culminating in an M.D. and Ph.D. in Neurobiology. His academic interests include molecular and behavioral neuroscience, computational sciences, and translational psychiatry. Faraz’s strategies are patient-specific and motivated by quantitative evidence derived from high-quality studies. Still, as an investigator, he understands psychiatry is a rapidly evolving field, and it is the goal of translational scientists to fill the gaps in our knowledge. Faraz consistently uses his best clinical judgment, combining facts and theory to care for his patients. Faraz is a strong proponent of multimodal approaches to patient care. He endorses the appropriate use of pharmacology, therapy in a variety of settings, and novel and long-standing somatic tools. He strives for efficient deployment of evidence-based evaluation and treatment algorithms but simultaneously has a low threshold for questioning generic approaches, especially when treatment is less effective than expected. Statement on ADHD management: Neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD are diagnosed and treated in relation to comprehensive clinical judgment. Diagnosis may require multiple avenues including psychiatric evaluation, review of past psychological and related records, medical workup, cognitive testing, and collateral information gathering. Collectively, diagnosis may take up to several months, especially in individuals looking to be initially evaluated for ADHD. Additionally, patients with a prior diagnosis or corresponding medication treatment history of ADHD should not assume this will be carried forward automatically. As in all aspects of psychiatric care, thorough assessment and clinical judgment will guide recommendations. Schedule your session easily through our online booking link. That credential was earned with an emphasis in Addiction Treatment and Psychometrics [clinical psychology core]. My academic training and credential includes as well, a Master of Arts degree in Human and Organizational Development. I completed most of the dissertation process to be awarded a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Human and Organizational Development and I am the holder of an earned doctorate (PhD) in psychology. I have been nationally(USA) -qualified as a Forensic Assessment and Substance Abuse counseling professional. With over two decades of experience in the field of applied social and behavioral sciences under my (expanding) belt. I have treated patients in inpatient, residential, hospital, and out-patient settings on an Individual basis; or as a part of a therapeutic Treatment Team. My experiences include treating couples, addressing family issues, dealing with organization’s psychological needs-and working as a mental health provider to stakeholders in the Legal Justice system as an Expert Witness in matters related to mental health, addiction and the Law. My forensic work has taken place in the United States, Canada and in the Caribbean (Jamaica). My clinical experiences include work with juvenile and adult substance abusers and sex offenders. And I have treated victims and perpetrators of violence. I have well over a decade of experiences as a contracted provider of clinical mental health and substance abuse treatment. I have been employed at several universities as a professor of Counseling, Psychology, and Sociology, among other related discipline areas. I am an experienced educator, who has taught at the secondary (High School), tertiary and graduate levels. I have trained and conducted seminars and workshops with professional and lay audiences for multiple topics in mental health and addictions. My treatment philosophy is shaped by an acceptance that the successful psychotherapeutic alliance, clients are best assisted with accomplishing the goals identified in therapy through and in a manner that –as much as possible- integrates and involves spiritual systems (church, temple, mosque, etc.), local communities, other social services organization, along with businesses, school districts, and even legislators as the most effective and beneficial manner of moving clients forward in order to achieve and maintain changed behaviors. My overall philosophy of care is eclectic as I do not think it is appropriate to place human beings in a box. I incorporate a wellness model in my psychotherapeutic work utilizing an integrative approach that incorporates the best of conventional and alternative medicine (CAM) into my treatment plan with my clients as as I understand that if the physiological is not considered and addressed, then the psychological and psychiatric will be poorly or at best only partially healed.

Empowering Options is one of the most effective counseling approaches because our philosophy is to be uniquely on the side of the client. We concentrate on helping you learn, explore, and create your options. Options are in the perspective – the beliefs that you view yourself and the world through. As children, we believe what the adults in our lives told about the world and especially about ourselves. This profoundly affects us as adults. The way we view ourselves, our level of self-acceptance, self-esteem, and how we act in our lives and in our intimate relationships. The view we are given of ourselves determines our levels of self-esteem, and self–acceptance, and is one of the main reasons for problems in our relationships, with our partners, and in our parenting. Most of us were unintentionally taught, from a very young age, to think and feel against ourselves. So we do not have an objective view of ourselves and little compassion for how we handle the challenges we face. No charge for the first session to make sure it's a good fit. See the website for all other info.

There are many ways we learn to cope with hurt, stress, and loss and, given our past experiences and upbringing, these ways can often involve avoidance – wanting to escape or numb the pain. This may look like excessive screen use, emotional eating, self-medicating, isolating, self-harm, etc. If you’re noticing that what helped you get by until now no longer works, if it’s impacting your ability to show up in your life and engage with the things you care about most, then I want to be your ally and support you through the process of change. My approach is collaborative, non-judgmental, and warm. In each session I prioritize creating a safe space for you to explore what brings you into therapy while providing a constructive environment, utilizing evidence-based approaches, to help you learn healthier coping strategies and facilitate the change you want to make. I want you to know that you are not alone and asking for help is an act of courage. I want to hear your story and have the privilege to accompany you on your journey of self-exploration, healing, and growth. To quote Brené Brown, “Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do.”

Collectively, college life comes with a variety of experiences and emotions. From my own experiences and research studies, anxiety and depression are unfortunately very common, whether you live on or off campus. Life struggles, transitions, questions concerning your identity, stress, and self-worth can cause college life to be a place of uncertainty. And some relationships can turn your life upside down. Seeking help, even for a short period of time, can have a positive impact on mood and functioning. If you're ready to seek help, we're here.

Being in college right now is tough. Personal struggles, family issues, and the pressure to keep it all together, plus the chaos of everything going on in the world, it makes sense that you're feeling overwhelmed. If you’re dealing with difficult past experiences, family stress, or just the daily pressure of trying to stay afloat, you don’t have to go through it alone. I specialize in helping people process tough emotions, navigate life transitions, and manage stress in healthy ways. I’ve worked with folks navigating trauma, family dynamics, and anxiety—and I use tools like EMDR and IFS to help you work through what’s weighing you down. Therapy is about giving you the space to deal with what’s hard and find practical ways forward, so you can feel more in control and less stuck. I’m passionate about working with women, gender-expansive individuals, and LGBTQ+ folks. No judgment. Just real, down-to-earth support to help you move forward.

Hi, I’m Jocelyn Foust—thanks for stopping by. College is a time of change, discovery, and a lot of pressure—whether it’s figuring out who you are, navigating relationships, dealing with anxiety or depression, or just trying to keep your head above water. If life feels overwhelming or like you’re stuck in a cycle of overthinking, sadness, or self-doubt, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to go through it alone either. As a therapist, I believe that healing happens through connection. My approach is warm, collaborative, and centered around you—your goals, your values, your unique experiences. Together, we’ll create a space where you can feel safe enough to explore what’s really going on beneath the surface, and start to build more clarity, confidence, and direction in your life. I often use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which means we’ll work on getting some distance from those painful thoughts and feelings that tend to pull you off track. We’ll also practice making space for your emotions, while moving toward the life you want—step by step, in ways that feel manageable and real. Therapy with me isn’t about quick fixes. It’s about waking up to your own story with compassion and curiosity. You’re the expert on your life—I’m just here to help you reconnect with your own strength, your inner wisdom, and what matters most to you. If you’re feeling stuck or weighed down right now, that makes sense—and it’s okay to ask for help. Therapy can be the place where things begin to shift. Let’s take the next step together when you’re ready.
