I aim to create a space of warmth, respect and curiosity where, together, we can explore the nuance and depth of your story. While everyone's individual challenges differ, I believe that fundamentally, the process of feeling, experiencing and examining our struggles promotes growth—increased awareness, new ways of being, more empathy, different ways of relating to ourselves and others, and more meaning and connection. Please be in touch if you'd like to explore working together.
I believe having a place to express yourself with a therapist whom you trust is a pivotal first step to creating personal growth and wellness. I pride myself in establishing strong, supportive relationships with my clients and providing a safe, nonjudgemental space where healing can take place. In therapy, I work together with my clients to navigate life's challenges, develop healthy coping strategies, effectively manage difficult emotions, and establish life-long skills. My therapeutic style is highly integrative with a warm person-centered approach. Therapy is tailored to the specific needs of clients so that treatment goals and the therapeutic process fits the individuality of each client. I am passionate about my work and am very invested in helping my clients develop a greater sense of self-awareness, acceptance, and overall life satisfaction
Emily Hanneman, Christopher Manvel, Emiliana Mladic, Monica Morris, Thia Mathes, Will Bartz and Sarah Mitchell provide psychotherapy services to adolescents, adults and families. They offer telehealth services throughout Illinois and in-office services in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago. They work people across the lifespan, including many young adults navigating college, graduate school, or the transition into the workforce. Please note that we do have therapists who accept regular Illinois Medicaid and Blue Cross Community. Unfortunately we are not in-network with other Medicaid plans including Aetna Better Health, County Care, Meridian, Molina or Youthcare or Medicaid from states other than Illinois.
I am a pre-licensed clinical psychologist specializing in individual therapy for adults, including young adults and college/graduate students. My therapeutic approach is rooted in psychodynamic and relational frameworks, with an emphasis on exploration and understanding of how your experiences have shaped the way you see yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. I strive to help clients feel empowered by integrating skills- and values-based interventions drawn from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I view therapy as a collaborative process and bring an empathetic, compassionate, and curious approach to helping clients identify patterns that may keep them feeling stuck while building the confidence to make meaningful changes. My areas of specialization include supporting individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, non-suicidal self-injury, relationship and dating concerns, family issues, identity exploration, life transitions, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), perfectionism, stress, grief, and self-esteem challenges. I also work with couples and welcome clients from diverse backgrounds and with intersecting identities, including first-generation individuals, immigrants, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and international students. I strive to provide a culturally responsive and affirming space where clients can bring their full selves to therapy. *I am able to accept BCBS PPO, select BCBS HMO sites (see below for complete list), Blue Choice, Aetna, and Cigna plans. I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology (PsyD) from The Chicago School and am currently working toward independent licensure. My professional experience includes providing care to adults and adolescents across higher levels of care—including inpatient hospital settings, partial hospitalization programs, and intensive outpatient programs—as well as university counseling centers and outpatient private practice. I grew up on the East Coast and have called Chicago home for the past five years. It is hard to be a young person in today’s world! There is so much pressure to perform, to look a certain way, to achieve. Perfectionism, disordered eating, body-image stress, these are all ways to cope with the world we live in. I get that and am here to support you with zero judgement. It's hard to take the first step in looking for help, but you deserve a safe, supportive space, where you can find healing through connection and curiosity. I love helping young people find new ways of being that move them toward the life they want. Working from a Health at Every Size (HAES)-Aligned/all foods fit, feminist framework, I use a strength based, client-centered approach to help you reclaim your narrative and re-discover your joy. I have an integrative approach to treating eating disorders, OCD, and trauma using ERP, CPT, ACT, and narrative therapy. I really enjoy working with teens, young adults, and their families. I treat clients with a range of general mental health concerns with my main focus areas being eating disorder treatment, OCD, and trauma recovery. I am looking forward to hearing from you and co-creating an individualized treatment approach to support you in feeling better.
I offer a warm and affirming space for you to move away from shame or past traumatic harms toward self-compassion and a stronger sense of agency in your life. My approach to therapy centers the therapeutic relationship and honors the ways that people heal alongside one another. I aim to be nonjudgmental, exploratory, and compassionate in my work with you. In my work, I draw largely from relational, psychodynamic, somatic, and trauma-centered frameworks to help individuals strengthen their relationships to themselves, their bodies, and those near them. Further, I take a social justice approach to therapy that acknowledges the role that power and oppressive systems have in shaping mental health. I have special interest in working with people seeking support for complex trauma, grief, burnout, significant life transitions, or relationship challenges. I welcome all communities but bring lived experience to work with LGBTQ+ and Latine individuals as a queer Mexican-American therapist.
Hello! Many of my clients are young adult and adult students who share life experiences like: being biracial/POC, LGBTQ+, having tough childhoods, having a good sense of humor, and feeling nervous around people. They include first generation college students, and first or second gen to live in the US. I also work with people on topics like depression, anxiety, trauma, behaviors/habits you're concerned about (e.g. self harm, eating disorders), couples, and more. I meet with people individually, and I also have two monthly support groups for people who experience some or all of the factors I listed above: One group is for ages 19-25 and the other is for ages 25-34. Please email, call, or text to ask about joining a group or meeting with me to see if we'd be a good fit for doing therapy together!
English & Conversational Korean/영어 & 일상 회화 한국어 *More availability coming Sep 2025/2025년 9월부터 상담 가능 시간이 더 많아집니다 English & Conversational Korean/영어 & 일상 회화 한국어 “What does it feel like to take up space?” Space can mean the way you walk into a room, how loud your voice is, or how tall you are. But what about emotional space? In relationships, at work, and in yourself? Maybe you’re the one others rely on, the ‘strong one’. Maybe you tend to hold things to yourself because it feels too vulnerable to share and it might burden someone else. Or you’re navigating systems that have made it hard to feel like you belong in a room. I believe healing happens in spaces where you feel safe enough to feel joy and connection. My role is to offer steady attention and help you reconnect with parts of yourself that you might have had to ignore. I’ve seen how cultural misunderstanding in mental health care can lead to misdiagnosis, minimized experiences, or emotional labor to explain yourself. I aim to reduce that burden, so you don’t have to translate your experience just to be understood. Sessions might include moments of light humor and comfort alongside serious work. What is Art Therapy?/미술치료는 뭔가요? As a practicing visual artist, I have a diverse understanding of art materials and techniques that can be incorporated into our sessions. Art therapy is a form of therapy that utilizes art-making and visual expression to deepen or facilitate the therapeutic process. It’s open to everyone, no artistic experience is necessary and the goal is not the end product, but the creative process. Trained in both art and talk therapy, I’m equipped to guide you through both the creative and verbal aspects of therapy. I practice art therapy as a collaborative process where we explore the meaning of your work together. Instead of reading or interpreting your art, we explore what you felt and thought while creating your piece. Kind of like an artist interview! Whether you’re interested in exploring new materials, want to try an activity catered to a particular challenge, something to fidget with during sessions, or using art as a medium to express yourself, I’m here to facilitate a safe, non judgemental space. In 2020, several experiences pointed me to become an art therapist and counselor alongside my path as an artist. Beginning with the gap in mental health services I witnessed at the time, I saw how many people with marginalized identities were struggling to access affirming, inclusive care. A pivotal moment was when someone I cared about shared the depth of their pain as a way to ask for help, which led to the decision to become a therapist. My own experience of therapy helped me understand how essential representation and cultural understanding are in mental health care. I went on to earn my MA in Art Therapy and Counseling and BFA in Studio Art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. My training includes art therapy, DBT, and narrative therapy, grounded in strengths-based, relational, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive approaches. I also bring LGBTQ+ and disability allyship into my work. In my work as a therapist, I’ve supported clients across both clinical and community settings. This has included leading teen wellness groups through UChicago Medicine, facilitating art therapy and psychosocial rehabilitation programs for adults with chronic mental health and intellectual disability diagnoses, and organizing community art workshops. I’ve also worked with immigrants, refugees, neurodivergent adults, and BIPOC/ALAANA communities. These experiences helped me cultivate a trauma-informed, culturally responsive lens. Speaking Korean lightly is welcome! I am a good fit for clients who are comfortable mixing Korean and English. While I can engage in everyday conversations in Korean, it may be difficult to clearly express everything in in-depth conversations, crisis situations, diagnoses, and treatment planning, as well as other important therapeutic discussions. Ideally, the burden of translation or language adaptation should not fall on the client. If this sounds like a fit for you, feel free to reach out!

Therapy can be a very powerful way to show up for yourself- opening yourself up to new ways of approaching life’s challenges and building the skills to work with your emotions rather than against them. If we work together, I will help you explore what your emotions are trying to tell you. From there, we will focus on developing the skills to feel more of what you want to feel and less of what you don’t, to treat yourself with kindness and respect, and to show up authentically in your relationships. I make it a priority to create a space that feels safe and affirming, while also challenging you to push toward your goals. Clients often describe me as warm, gentle, and encouraging, while also valuing my humor, directness, and genuine connection. If this sounds like a good fit for you, I look forward to meeting you!
Our relationships with our bodies and food are complicated and hard to navigate. You are not alone. Wherever you are in your journey - an eating disorder, disordered eating, and/or weight/body image concerns - you deserve support and compassion. As an eating disorder therapist, my work is grounded in a person-centered, Health At Every Size (HAES) approach. I integrate both psychodynamic and behavioral (ACT, DBT, CBT, etc). I have over 7 years of experience in direct client treatment services - spanning residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient settings—and have worked with clients experiencing a variety of mental health concerns. While I focus my practice on eating disorders, I have a generalist background and am skilled in working with a range of clinical issues. I am committed to providing trauma-informed care rooted in cultural humility. I love working with the LGBTQ+ community to provide a safe, affirming space for clients to explore their identities and experiences. Starting a relationship with a new therapist can feel daunting—it’s a deeply personal and courageous step. By simply being here, you’re already showing strength and a commitment to your well-being. I sincerely hope you will take that next step and reach out. Together, we can work toward peace with your body and food.
Life can sometimes move too fast, too slow, or just become a bit too much. You may feel overwhelmed, frustrated or discouraged as you try to keep up, while the world around you continues to change. Your thoughts run on overdrive, you feel stuck moving through the motions but no closer to where you’d like to go. In our darkest moments, we often need someone else to shine a light on our capabilities. I believe there’s strength in every person, even when it feels out of reach. Wherever you are on your path, I hope to honor your lived experience while also noticing the glimmers of change as they come. Together, we will identify the root of what’s holding you back, strengthen intrinsic motivation, and take steps toward meaningful, lasting change. Drawing from an integrative, holistic and affirming approach, I work with individuals and couples from all walks of life. With training in Somatic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Gottman Method, Motivational Interviewing, LGBTQ+ and neurodiversity affirming practice, I weave experiential methods of therapy with evidence-based interventions. I love supporting people to gain self-insight, and build better communication skills that support fulfilling and intentional relationships. Sometimes the first step is the hardest. If you feel that my approach may be a good fit for you, I invite you to reach out. Whether with me or another counselor, it would be a privilege to witness you on your new path.

Primary Care Psychology Associates (PCPA) is a group practice of doctoral-level clinical psychologists and psychotherapists providing outpatient mental health care and psychological testing for adults, children, and families. What We Do: Psychotherapy: Individual, couples, family, and group talk therapy. Psychological Assessment: Diagnostic testing for ADHD, learning differences, and developmental or emotional concerns. Integrated Medical Collaboration: Co-locating or coordinating care directly with primary care physicians and pediatric groups (such as PediaTrust). Multilingual Care: Offering sessions in English, Spanish, and Bulgarian. What We Do Well: Integrated & Co-Located Care: We excel at embedding behavioral health inside primary medical clinics. This allows for real-time consultation, smoother referrals, and "warm handoffs" where a medical doctor can connect a patient to mental health support immediately. Solution-Focused, Evidence-Based Approach: Our clinicians utilize proven modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) with a time-limited focus. We aim for practical skill-building and tangible results within weeks or months rather than open-ended years of analysis. Lifespan & Family Systems Coverage: We manage care seamlessly across all ages (from early childhood pediatric support and parent training to adult and geriatric health psychology) while viewing patients through a broader family or environmental lens. Behavioral Medicine: We handle the psychological overlay of physical illness well—such as helping patients adjust to chronic pain, diabetes, cancer, or cardiac recovery alongside their medical treatments.
Challenges often arise before, during, and after difficult experiences, whether it’s heading off to college, starting a new job, becoming a parent, going through a breakup or divorce, receiving a troubling diagnosis, or coping with the loss of a loved one. With each life change comes an array of emotions, including sadness, anger, and anxiety. Even seemingly positive transitions can leave you feeling stressed and overwhelmed. Therapists at Perspective can help you navigate these emotions and build skills so you can work towards your goals.
I specialize in working with children, adolescents and adults struggling with anxiety, behavioral challenges, depression, addiction, grief & loss, and trauma. I also help those who are struggling with transitional changes, relationship stressors and identity challenges. Additionally, I help couples' work through conflict and improve communication in their relationship.
We all experience moments where life feels overwhelming, sometimes accompanied by worry about what comes next or how to change patterns we find ourselves repeating again. While some relationships may be sources of stress and pain, relationships where you are able to be your true self can allow for healing and transformation. It is my belief that the more we experience our authentic self, the easier it becomes to remain in connection to others and the world around us. Therapy is a space where you can begin to explore yourself, while doing so within a relationship that is validating, supportive, and centers your goals and needs. I believe that healing in the context of an attuned relationship is important, and work to create a therapy space that is safe and welcomes authenticity. Psychotherapy works best when it’s collaborative and strength-based, incorporating your personal culture and working towards goals that move beyond symptom reduction, resulting in more lasting changes in all areas of life. My approach to therapy is relationally based, incorporating attachment theory, CBT, and systems perspectives. As a licensed clinical psychologist, I have experience working with a range of presenting concerns, with a special focus working with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and trauma-related disorders. I have experience providing individual, couple, and family therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. I also provide psychological assessment services and can provide support related to receiving academic accommodations. Please feel free to contact me for a brief consultation or to schedule your first appointment.
