Hi, my name is Sandy! I am a Master’s level therapist with a special interest in working with adolescents and immigrant populations. I am bilingual in English and Burmese and am open to taking patients in both languages. I completed my Bachelor’s in Psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and my Master’s in Clinical Psychology at Roosevelt University. I am a part of the Illinois Counseling Association (ICA). I have experience working with children and adolescents in an inpatient psychiatric hospital and working with older adults and veterans on an online Cognitive Behavioral Therapy program. I mainly work from a trauma informed cognitive behavioral framework, while incorporating techniques from psychodynamic and ACT practices. As a therapist, I enjoy creating a safe space for individuals to share their experiences, thoughts, and emotions without judgment or biases. I am particularly drawn to working with immigrants on their mental health as I believe they are often underserved and as an immigrant myself, I am very familiar with the stressors of immigrating and the cultural factors that come with it.
There are many ways we learn to cope with hurt, stress, and loss and, given our past experiences and upbringing, these ways can often involve avoidance – wanting to escape or numb the pain. This may look like excessive screen use, emotional eating, self-medicating, isolating, self-harm, etc. If you’re noticing that what helped you get by until now no longer works, if it’s impacting your ability to show up in your life and engage with the things you care about most, then I want to be your ally and support you through the process of change. My approach is collaborative, non-judgmental, and warm. In each session I prioritize creating a safe space for you to explore what brings you into therapy while providing a constructive environment, utilizing evidence-based approaches, to help you learn healthier coping strategies and facilitate the change you want to make. I want you to know that you are not alone and asking for help is an act of courage. I want to hear your story and have the privilege to accompany you on your journey of self-exploration, healing, and growth. To quote Brené Brown, “Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do.”

Are you feeling trapped in your anxious and depressive thoughts, but feeling too embarrassed to talk, or express yourself in fear that you may be judged? You are not alone in this. I want to applaud your courage and bravery in taking that first step. I have helped those seeking help with a variety of issues, and work well with complex conditions. Some include depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, self-esteem, bullying, family conflict, defiant behaviors, anger management, and coping with stress. My ideal clients are queer, neurodivergent folks with a history of trauma. They may struggle with self-acceptance, navigating relationships, or managing emotional overwhelm. Their needs include validation, trauma-informed care, coping strategies, and support in embracing their unique identities. Their goals are healing, reclaiming their power, and building a sense of community. They want to feel empowered, seen, and safe—so they can live authentically, cultivate self-trust, and thrive despite the challenges they face in a world that often marginalizes them. I specialize in EMDR, somatic therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients process trauma, regulate emotions, and heal from past wounds. Using these modalities, I guide clients in reconnecting with their bodies, integrating fragmented parts of themselves, and fostering self-compassion to create lasting emotional transformation. I understand how overwhelming it can be to navigate trauma, identity, and emotional struggles on your own. You deserve a space where you’re seen, heard, and supported. Together, we can explore healing through trauma-informed techniques like EMDR, somatic work, and IFS. You don’t have to do this alone—I'm here to support you when you're ready.
I work best with students and young adults who are thoughtful, overwhelmed, and trying to make sense of who they are while carrying a lot more than they should have to. Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, trauma, identity exploration, burnout, family stress, or major life transitions like college, grad school, or early career shifts. I offer a warm, collaborative space where you don’t have to perform or have it all figured out. Therapy with me is grounded, reflective, and practical. We focus on understanding your nervous system, building emotional regulation skills, and unpacking patterns that keep you stuck while honoring your cultural background, values, and lived experience. I am especially affirming of LGBTQ+ clients, BIPOC students, neurodivergent folks, and those who have felt misunderstood in previous therapy spaces. My approach blends evidence-based therapy with curiosity, compassion, and real conversations. We move at your pace, with the goal of helping you feel more steady, more connected to yourself, and more able to navigate life with clarity and confidence.
Hi, I’m Jocelyn Foust—thanks for stopping by. College is a time of change, discovery, and a lot of pressure—whether it’s figuring out who you are, navigating relationships, dealing with anxiety or depression, or just trying to keep your head above water. If life feels overwhelming or like you’re stuck in a cycle of overthinking, sadness, or self-doubt, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to go through it alone either. As a therapist, I believe that healing happens through connection. My approach is warm, collaborative, and centered around you—your goals, your values, your unique experiences. Together, we’ll create a space where you can feel safe enough to explore what’s really going on beneath the surface, and start to build more clarity, confidence, and direction in your life. I often use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which means we’ll work on getting some distance from those painful thoughts and feelings that tend to pull you off track. We’ll also practice making space for your emotions, while moving toward the life you want—step by step, in ways that feel manageable and real. Therapy with me isn’t about quick fixes. It’s about waking up to your own story with compassion and curiosity. You’re the expert on your life—I’m just here to help you reconnect with your own strength, your inner wisdom, and what matters most to you. If you’re feeling stuck or weighed down right now, that makes sense—and it’s okay to ask for help. Therapy can be the place where things begin to shift. Let’s take the next step together when you’re ready.
