Often, a significant source of suffering lies in thoughts and feelings that exist outside of our awareness and have not yet been able to find full expression. Psychotherapy offers the unusual opportunity to be listened to deeply and to learn to listen to ourselves in new ways. Exploring and developing insight into your inner life can lead to change—feeling better about yourself, shifting seemingly intractable patterns that have kept you stuck, and developing a greater sense of agency and fulfillment in your life. My practice provides a safe setting in which this exploration can unfold. I'll work collaboratively with you to help you make sense of distressing feelings and thoughts, gain insight into your experiences, and develop a more authentic relationship to yourself and to the world. I have advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, and my work is influenced by psychoanalytic and trauma-informed approaches. I see adults and specialize in a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, complex trauma, and relationship difficulties. **Currently accepting clients for Summer 2024 as of May 2024!** I work with students on all major non-emergent concerns, but I am particularly passionate about concerns around identity development. This is a broad area and includes working through gender or sexuality, what you want to "do" with your life in terms of career or relationships, how you might change patterns you see in your life to be more in alignment with the person you'd like to be, and more. I work with neurodivergent students to better set up their lives to meet their needs. Students might come in to discuss depression, anxiety, drug or alcohol use, or relationships with friends, family, or intimate partners. My goal is always to create a creative and safe environment for you to come closer to achieving what you have set out for yourself. My approach is collaborative and client-centered. I aim to be affirming of all races, sexes and genders, body sizes, religions, and more, with the understanding that I cannot be an expert in lived experiences that are not my own. I offer a free 15 minute consultation call to see if we are a good match for each other. Reach out and we can talk to see if we will be a good fit.

I tend to work best with students who are struggling with relationships, attachment, and life transitions. Many of the people I work with notice patterns in their relationships feeling anxious, overthinking, fearing abandonment, homesick or feeling like they give more than they receive. Others may be going through changes in friendships, family dynamics, dating, or figuring out who they are and what they want. College and young adulthood can bring a lot of change, and sometimes those transitions can bring up deeper emotions or past experiences that affect how we connect with others. In therapy, I focus on creating a space where you can be open and honest without feeling judged. Together we explore relationship patterns, emotional responses, and what might be underneath them. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, build healthier relationships, set boundaries, and feel more confident navigating change.

Unless you are an old soul, choices surrounding identity, self worth and acceptance, relationships/finding connection, and career choice are often painful and confusing. Even in the best of circumstances and family support, we are left with well meaning advice and our own limited self-understanding to guide choices that will affect the next season of life. I have over a decade of experience in residential and college counseling settings helping clients to explore their past to understand the motivations and traumas that led then to where they are and what if anything they want to change going forward. Clinically, I work with clients seeking to treat their depression, anxiety, relationship/career issues, and other areas of distress. I use a client centered, humanist/existential style to explore current distress while integrating behavioral interventions (TF-CBT, DBT) and classic insight oriented exploration. I offer a safe space to look at oneself gently. I believe true spiritual/personal growth is demonstrated in learning how to treat ourselves the way we treat our friends and those we love. If you're looking for a space to grow that part of yourself or to begin treatment for a long ignored pain/injury, please reach out for a free 15 minute consultation. I wish you all the best. Katie Duggan, MS - Individual Therapist As a dedicated mental health clinician with a focus on children and young adults, I am passionate about helping individuals navigate the intricate interplay between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. With a foundation in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) complemented by person-centered and psychoanalytic approaches, I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients can feel heard and understood. My therapeutic philosophy centers on the belief that therapy should be a collaborative journey, where individuals feel empowered to explore their innermost thoughts and emotions in a non-judgmental environment. I view therapy as an invaluable outlet for self-exploration and growth, guiding clients towards healthier ways of coping and living authentically. I am committed to fostering a therapeutic relationship built on trust, empathy, and respect, as I firmly believe that every individual deserves to feel validated and supported on their path towards healing and self-discovery. Deanna Maher, LCSW - Individual Therapist Deanna earned her MSW from Bridgewater State University and undergraduate degree in psychology from Boston University. I work very well with young people who are struggling to adapt to college or grad school, either socially or academically. I am able to diagnose ADHD and create treatment strategies. I also work very well with students who are struggling to differentiate from their parents or families. Sometimes this look like anxiety or depression, but it can have its roots in dysfunctional family systems. I am good at working with you to identify what you grew up with vs what you need now. I am in training as a sex therapist with a focus on how to get pleasure from sexual intimacy. I like to support sex workers, and can also attend to gaps in sexual functioning.
Lumin Health is a psychiatrist-led mental health organizations serving young adults who feel stuck with depression and anxiety despite efforts with traditional methods. We provide two evidence-based options: esketamine (Spravato) — an FDA-approved, insurance-covered treatment — and ketamine therapy delivered in a carefully monitored setting. Each session happens in a private room with vitals tracked, standard two-hour observation, and a ride-home requirement to keep you safe. You set the pace; our team provides steadiness. Access matters, especially for students and early-career adults. Spravato treatment is insurance-covered at Lumin Health; we accept Medicare and most major plans in Massachusetts (Aetna, Anthem, BCBS, Cigna, Evernorth, Harvard Pilgrim, Optum, Point32Health, Tufts, United Healthcare). Our team handles prior authorizations and coordination so you’re not navigating forms between classes or shifts. Out-of-pocket costs typically range from $10 to $25, which is meaningful when the treatment typically costs $500+. Care is local and predictable: clinics in Woburn, Brookline, Newton, and Cambridge Massachusetts, flexible scheduling, and collaborative communication with your current therapist or prescriber. That structure helps ketamine treatment fit real life — exams, internships, family demands — rather than the other way around. Many young adults describe ketamine for depression as creating a window where rumination eases and possibilities feel closer. Spravato and ketamine treatment don’t cure depression, but they may offer rapid relief for some and a safer way to do deeper work with psychotherapy or behavioral support. What matters most is what feels possible to you now. If you’re exploring ketamine therapy or Spravato, Lumin Health will meet you with clarity, agency, and insurance-savvy support.
