If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck in your head, or unsure of who you are or where you’re going, you don’t have to navigate it alone. Therapy can be a space where you feel grounded and comfortable showing up as you are, without pressure or judgment, while we make sense of what’s been weighing on you. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, stress, self-doubt, relationship challenges, family conflict, or major life transitions, my goal is to make you feel supported and respected while you gain insight and confidence in who you are and how to manage whatever comes your way. I work with adolescents, teens, and young adults navigating the pressures of school, relationships, identity development, and expectations from others (and themselves). I also specialize in supporting athletes with confidence, focus, motivation, and returning to sport after injury while staying focused on who you are beyond performance. My approach is collaborative and person-centered. You are the expert on your life, and my role is to help you identify your strengths and values, develop practical tools, and build momentum toward meaningful change. I draw from EMDR, CBT, DBT, ACT, and Solution-Focused strategies in ways that are flexible and tailored to your needs and values.

I have been working with college and graduate students all of my professional career, and am excited and comfortable helping students navigate their social, emotional, psychological and professional challenges. I am an open therapist who believes that the therapeutic process is a collaboration between therapist and patient/client. Those with whom I have worked have described me as warm, empathic and woke.

My degree is from Northeastern University where I graduated with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and became Licensed in 1996. Most recently, I was the Director of Psychology for Wrentham Developmental Center and an Area Psychologist for the Department of Developmental Services. Previously, I had my own private practice where I facilitated numerous social groups, provided individual and family therapy, and served as a Consultant to Cranston ARC, and Bristol Community College. In joining Needham Psychotherapy Associates, I am returning to my passion for clinical work. My approach would be considered eclectic, involving systems work, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, positive behavioral supports, and psychodynamic or insight-oriented work. In my view, the modality of therapy is often determined by the issues that one presents with as well as the style and comfort level of both the therapist and the client. It is important to me that the process of therapy is collaborative, sometimes humorous, and that clients are empowered to make choices in the course of their treatment. Simultaneously, I think there are times when clients need to be challenged to make further growth and progress. I love stories and the stories of people’s lives. In therapy, my style would involve asking a lot of open-ended questions to learn more about your story and your journey. Therapy should involve clients feeling, safe, challenged, and learning strategies and approaches to handle your problems more effectively. In the end, ideally clients will feel better about themselves and their world. Most definitely, I believe that there are times that clients should laugh in therapy, as humor and laughing are an important part of healing. I love working with young adults and the new ways they have of looking at the world as well as helping them navigate their present challenges and future transitions.

My style is direct, interactive, supportive and compassionate. I particularly enjoy working with older adolescents and adults who are experiencing difficult and challenging transitions in their lives. I have found that some people seek counseling for short term solutions, while others are seeking a longer, deeper, transformative experience. Some goals I have helped my patients achieve include: overcoming inhibitions about relationships or career, becoming better self-advocates, managing stressful life transitions, exercising more control over choices and actions, and mourning the loss of a loved one/significant relationship. I often use CBT, DBT, and ERP to help clients maximize functioning.

I'm a PhD psychologist, with advanced training beyond my doctorate from Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. My orientation is relational, psychodynamic therapy. This means I focus with you on whatever dynamics might have been set in motion when you were younger as well as with present day difficulties. I work with people who are struggling with feelings of sadness and anxiety, worries about self esteem, identity, friendships, relationships and career issues among many other things. Sometimes there are struggles with issues about being away from home at school, or issues about entering adulthood. Please email me to schedule a consultation appointment. I am a licensed mental health counselor in MA and RI. My approach to therapy is unique, in that I can help you achieve answers faster to what has been blocking you, build the life you desire, and redefine yourself using a holistic approach. We will do this together by finding root causes to your symptoms using a comprehensive assessment questionnaire, attachment theory, and evidence-based mind-body approaches; that include meditation and somatic practices. I help my clients transform their lives, reach their goals, and achieve lasting results by providing high quality care. My intent is to address the challenges you are struggling with in connection to your symptoms and help bring awareness on how these symptoms are connected to limiting beliefs, subconscious programming, and/or trauma; that created a life that no longer aligns with who you are today and where you want to be. I value treating the whole-person. As we walk through this journey together, my hope for you, is to find fulfillment within yourself, healthier relationships, healing, and post-traumatic growth. I am accepting new clients at this time and have helped hundreds of people achieve the life they seek throughout sixteen years of work experience in the mental health profession. <script src="https://thrivingcampus.com/verified.js?pid=34863"></script>
