People seek counseling / therapy for many reasons - to gain understanding and insights, make changes, process experiences, for support and encouragement, and many others. Whether you are looking for a safe place to discuss whatever is on your mind, are interested in making life changes, or just want to give therapy a try, I welcome the opportunity to meet with you and see how I may be able to help. You can count on me to be reliable, truthful, and kind. My approach to therapy recognizes the importance of building a strong therapeutic relationship. I identify as queer and specialize in working with members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. I am an affirming practitioner. I have over 20 years of experience working with college and graduate students in college counseling centers, and as a result I've had the privilege of working with many people from all around the world. My therapeutic approach is culturally informed and integrates a whole-person perspective along with socio-cultural/political awareness and acknowledgement of the impact of systemic barriers on functioning. I am mindful of my own areas of privilege and how I show up in spaces and may be perceived by others. I attend to how I perceive others based on my own life experiences. I'm always working to educate myself and challenge my assumptions and biases. I read, try to keep up on the news (around the world, not just in the U.S.), and try to engage in conversations with people from various backgrounds. If you would like to have a brief, introductory conversation to discuss what you are looking for and how I may be able to help, please give me a call or send an email. An initial screening consultation is free. I look forward to hearing from you.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a deep passion for working with young adults. I believe the early adult years are some of the most important—and often most misunderstood—seasons of life. Rather than something to simply “get through,” I view this stage as a powerful period of identity formation, growth, and possibility. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. After spending a year living abroad, I went on to receive her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University. Throughout my graduate training and post-master’s clinical work, I have supported youth and families across a range of settings, including in-home therapy, group home care, outpatient clinics, and municipal mental health. I understand that young adulthood can feel overwhelming—whether it’s anxiety, relationships, school, or simply trying to figure things out. Therapy with me is a place to slow things down and make sense of what’s going on. Sessions feel like a real conversation, where clients can explore their experiences, connect patterns, and develop strategies that are actually useful in everyday life. My goal is to create a space where clients feel comfortable, understood, and supported as they navigate this stage.

I have been a mental health counselor for 20 years. I enjoy the process of helping others help themselves. I trust together we can improve your overall life experience. One of the most important things to be looked at is how you interpret experiences and understanding the influence on your moods. Using a journal is a tool to improve your outcomes in therapy. I look forward to meeting you either online or in-person at my home office.

Hi and welcome—I’m really glad you found your way here! College can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming—classes, relationships, family expectations, figuring out who you are, and making decisions about the future. I offer therapy sessions in both English and Mandarin. I was born and raised in China, and later came to the U.S. for grad school. My personal experience in navigating the challenges of life transitions, cultures, and expectations inspired me to create a safe, gentle space where you can be heard and understood. I’m here to listen to your stories and unspoken emotions, and help you find your true voice. Together, we’ll explore patterns that may be holding you back and gently uncover the myths that no longer serve you. I’m not here to judge or talk down to you—I’ll be patient and supportive as you grow. I’ll celebrate your progress because I genuinely care, and I hope to make this journey one of curiosity, compassion, and even joy as you step into the best version of yourself.

As humans, we all have the capacity for change. At some point, we are confronted with challenging life situations and may respond in ways that do not align with our values. Part of our work in therapy can be towards examining the "why" and making positive adaptations. Therapy can be used as a tool to examine difficult patterns and develop fresh perspectives over time. This work requires much vulnerability and I am here to listen and align in the direction of your own personal breakthroughs. Join me as we work together to create a grounded and inclusive space for reflection, transparency, and self-compassion as you learn to navigate the highs, lows, and unpredictability that life brings. My therapeutic approach is anything but one-size-fits-all. I draw from my strengths-based and trauma-informed training while integrating spontaneity, creativity, and humor when welcomed. I recognize that successful treatment varies with an individuals unique needs, strengths, and preferences.
