I provide identity-affirming therapy to adults with intersecting marginalized identities, including (but not limited to!) folks who are queer, trans, neurodivergent, disabled, kinky, non-monogamous, as well as other marginalized identities. I also enjoy working with those who previously had poor experiences with therapy, first time therapy clients, young adults, and those who feel “different.”
Through my own lived experience, I can deeply resonate with the realities my Millennial and Gen Z clients face. Dating, social media, politics, finances, and demands from school or work can be so daunting. My main priority as a therapist is to create a non-judgmental, engaging, and approachable environment where you feel empowered to navigate these challenges together. While I pull from many approaches in my work, I especially enjoy utilizing skills-based therapies like Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). Additionally, I frequently utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and addressing cognitive distortions when working with Anxiety and/or Depression. I utilize a very structured approach to therapy with opportunity for input and feedback. My goal is to remind clients that they are doing so much better than they give themselves credit for, but to also give them tools and coping skills to take with them throughout life. Dr. Bridget Nestor (she/her) is a supportive and encouraging psychologist who works collaboratively with her clients to identify goals and make steps toward change. She aims to meet clients where they are at, understand the nuance of their individual experiences, and build off their strengths to help them achieve their goals. Drawing on the tenets of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dr. Nestor takes an evidence-based, client-centered approach to therapy to foster coping skills and promote individual flourishing. Dr. Nestor provides individual therapy for older adolescents and young adults with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, executive dysfunction, social difficulties, stress, chronic pain, grief, and challenges related to life transitions. She is also trained in neuropsychological evaluations to assess attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder and other executive functioning difficulties.
I work primarily with those suffering from chronic illness. Difficult to treat medical conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic Lyme disease, multiple sclerosis, Lupus, etc. are often poorly understood, and it can be very difficult for patients to find the help and support they need. I teach my clients tools for coping with and managing every day life with these conditions, in addition to mind body medicine practices to help alleviate symptoms and to decrease stress. I have recently started offering Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy as a way to cope with life stressors or trauma.
