People come to see me when they feel stuck and have had enough. I help parents help their children; help couples and families get closer and happier; and in general help people successfully resolve issues such as: stress, anxiety, adjustment to new life circumstances (relocation, family changes), relationship issues (divorce, extra-marital affairs, conflict), and dealing with difficult family members. I work with individuals and families dealing with medical conditions that can be affected by stress (Gastrointestinal issues, pain, sleep disturbances). I also work with people interested in specific skill building such as: stress/anxiety management, assertiveness and dealing with conflict, communication, and more.
I offer medication management and/or counseling. I work with individuals, couples, or families. I enjoy helping people navigate relationships, deal with stress or anxiety, or depression/feeling overwhelmed. I have a history in pediatrics and I'm happy to work with adolescents/young adults. For people who may need advice or insight into a situation, but do not want to commit long-term, I offer short term problem-focused visits.
Hi, I'm Shani! I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maine. My clients come to me for support with a number of concerns including: major life transitions including coming out, grief, transitioning to adulthood, or shifting family dynamics. They may also be working through identity exploration, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, anxiety, or struggling with managing the constant heaviness of the world. My clients tend to be insight-oriented and motivated to engage in the therapeutic process. My style is warm, non-judgmental, patient, and highly attentive to issues of social justice. I practice with sex-positive, body-positive lenses and actively work to incorporate values of decolonization and anti-racism. I am deeply committed to supporting members of my LGBTQIA+ community and our allies and I believe strongly that immigrants strengthen our communities. When clients first start therapy, I take great care to establish a counseling space where they feel safe, supported, respected, seen, and heard regardless of background. I want our time together to be something that clients look forward to and believe the quality of the client-counselor relationship sets the foundation for the work that we will do together. When you’re ready, I’m here to help. Even if you don't fully believe it yourself just yet, I know that things can - and will - get better, and I am so looking forward to working with you.
At Ocean Gem Psychological Care, we strive to provide outstanding clinical care to all of our patients and families. No two treatments have ever been exactly the same and that’s because of you! Each individual is unique, with distinct personalities, support systems, problems, and strengths. Each of these variables (and more) are important aspects to consider in our work together. While it is important that we discuss areas in your life that are problematic for you, we also strive to address areas of personal strength. One’s strengths may be used effectively in combating the negative aspects of one’s life and strength-based interventions can make therapy fun! We are eager to get to know you and to begin our work toward making you a healthier you!

I am a licensed mental health counselor providing psychotherapy in a private practice setting to children, adolescents, adults, and families. I work with my clients to identify their goals and improve their overall wellness by focusing on their strengths. I do so through a supportive, therapeutic relationship. When in session, my objective is to help you feel safe and free of judgment. Please note that I do not have evening availability at this time.

I am goal-oriented and practical while very mindful of the emotions and relationship factors related to feeling better. My current practice is fully remote.

** Telehealth and In-Person appointments.** We all long for our experiences, feelings, and needs to be seen, recognized, and honored. I bring to our work deep respect for your concerns and suffering. I place the therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work together which I approach with curiosity and empathy. I am most interested in what your unique experience is, and I aim to listen deeply on our road toward understanding. A safe-enough space will help us to transform your patterns of experience that interfere with your ability to be compassionate with yourself, to build meaningful relationships, and to work and play creatively, in other words, to live a fulfilling life. I am humbled by the complexity of human existence and feel honored to work with individuals from different racial and cultural backgrounds, sexual and gender identities, as well as spiritual and religious affiliations. In addition to my private practice, I am an Instructor in Psychology at Harvard Medical School (part-time) and supervise psychology interns and psychiatrist fellows. I enjoy partnering with people to build a therapeutic relationship as they work to reduce the barriers to living the life they want. Therapy can be a great tool, regardless of what you might be going through in life. I understand that each person's story is unique and, therefore, so is his or her therapeutic experience. I am a psychotherapist and coach who will work with you to develop strategies for overcoming barriers in your life. I believe it's very important to have a good connection and rapport with your therapist. Due to this, I work to create a comfortable and safe environment to allow for progress and growth. I have nearly a decade of clinical experience working with clients in a variety of clinical settings. I have successfully treated individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, relationship problems, work/school stress, and difficult life transitions.
I am a short-term therapist who works specifically with clients with chronic health conditions. Over the course of 20 sessions, we learn all about what is happening in your body and brain, learn and practice coping skills to manage anxiety related to your chronic medical condition, and have the option to complete hypnotherapy for chronic illness as well. If you are struggling with mental health related to a chronic health condition, and especially if you are experiencing high amounts of anxiety and low quality of life related to health symptoms, you will be a great fit for what I provide. If you have never done therapy before, or if you have found that your current therapist doesn’t quite “get it,” and you’re hoping to work with someone that has an intimate knowledge of chronic illness and hospital systems, then you will be a great fit. I also work alongside your full-time therapist if you have a therapist you love and would like to stay with while we complete our work together. I am also a good fit for someone who is specifically seeking out an LGBTQ therapist. I only offer virtual therapy at this time.
