Therapists for college students near Harvard University
Using an integrative approach, my therapeutic style is grounded in compassion, honesty, humor, and humility. I work with individuals of all ages, but specialize in working with college-age adults. Individual therapy sessions are provided for 45-minutes/session, usually scheduled on a weekly basis. These weekly sessions lay the foundation for a strong therapeutic relationship, help with learning new skills, and create important momentum so you can experience relief and reach your therapy goals. We will work together to acknowledge and understand your past experiences and begin to re-affirm your feelings of personal worth. I also provide full and partial psychological evaluations, diagnostic evaluations (ADHD, mood, anxiety, learning, autism, developmental disorders), and educational evaluations. Assessments can be structured to measure social functioning, personality, memory, language, learning, and attention, or to provide diagnostic clarity. Individualized recommendations provided will support and facilitate growth, helping to set the path for success.

Engaging in therapeutic modalities informed by psychodynamic, relational, and attachment-based frameworks, I believe profound changes occur in the context of relationships. I also incorporate strength-based approaches, person-centered therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, motivational interviewing (MI), and Relational Cultural Therapy (RCT) in my clinical practice. Deeply committed to providing culturally informed care, I am dedicated to recognizing the complexity and richness of each client’s cultural identity. I offer psychotherapy to adults across the lifespan and work with clients experiencing mood disorders, depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship difficulties, trauma/PTSD, disordered eating, substance use, and college adjustment. I work with clients across all identities and particularly enjoy working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. I have experience working in college counseling and substance use settings as well as conducting psychopharmacological research. Prior to attaining my graduate degree in mental health counseling, my academic pursuits were in philosophy, which shaped my belief that psychotherapy is carried out in the service of living a flourishing life.
People say "you are too sensitive" when you share how you feel. Your family and heritage are important to you but there is tension. It's hard to feel relaxed in your body. At times you feel restless and at other times stiff and numb. Feeling balanced is tough. At times, you feel hopeless. You don't like how you tend to replay conversations in your mind. There are too many negative and anxious thoughts that come. Thank you for your interest in my practice! One main strategy to help you with is called EMDR-Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. A technique that is based in neuroscience that heals your brain naturally-much like eye movements during REM sleep. Developing a safe space to process your emotions, memories, and implementing strategies that will be effective is essential. I am also trained in other modalities like DBT, CBT, and psychodynamic therapy.
I am a licensed psychologist with over 10 years of clinical experience in higher education, community mental health, and hospital outpatient services. My approach is relational, active, and compassionate. I work with clients to increase active coping, reduce distress, and take steps that add to the quality of your life. Areas of special interest include anxiety and depression; trauma and post traumatic stress; grief and loss; relationship concerns; identity development and issues of race, class, gender, and sexuality; and veterans' experiences. In addition to my private practice, I supervise psychology doctoral students and provide outpatient psychotherapy at a local hospital.
We all, at times, encounter periods of pain or discomfort related to relationships, work, responsibilities or our inner sense of self. It takes courage, trust, and a certain amount of hope to reach out for help by initiating therapy. My approach to therapy is rooted in psychodynamic theory. I take seriously the task of understanding the unique narrative of your life, carefully listening to and reflecting on your experiences to unravel how they've sculpted you into the person you are today. Together, we will work to understand your mind, enabling us to confront the challenges and conflicts you face with newfound clarity and strength. I work with individuals across all life stages, addressing a spectrum of concerns. I provide support for depression, anxiety, trauma, identity exploration, life transitions, and relationship dynamics. I also offer psychological assessments to clarify diagnostic questions and help guide existing therapeutic treatments towards self-understanding and growth. I have advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychological evaluation, honed through my training at Cambridge Health Alliance, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School. I also have experience as a therapy and testing clinical consultant and have worked extensively with LGBTQIA+ populations in individual, group, and community-based contexts.

For people of all ages, difficulties in life may result from a lost connection with one’s internal experience. Psychotherapy offers the opportunity to attend closely to one’s thoughts and feelings in a safe, supportive environment. In child therapy, play is the primary mode of communication. Through play, children explore their internal world, rehearse for life, process past events, practice creativity, and learn to moderate themselves. As children begin to feel understood and understand themselves, their internal experience can become their guide to being in the world. In talk therapy with adolescents and adults, I offer a collaborative, exploratory space where together we will work to understand your personal experience and the roots of your distress. This process can lead to a deeper connection with oneself and to others. I have advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and adults. I work with individuals struggling with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, life transitions, identity issues, attentional problems, trauma, and relationship difficulties.

Finding a good therapy match is crucial to bringing about the change that you desire in your life. Working with someone where you feel seen, understood and challenged in a non-threatening way creates the safety to explore the unknown and grow into your full potential. I have been in private practice for 16 years and I trained and worked at Tufts University Counseling Center for 4 years. In the wise words of author Sharon Salzberg, "If I opened my heart and mind big enough to take in the suffering, then there would be healing- not because the suffering itself is redemptive or healing, but because of the opening I was cultivating in the face of it."

I use psychodynamic and person-centered approaches, along with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), motivational interviewing and mindfulness. I work from a systems and relational lens, recognizing that our lives are shaped by developmental experiences, relationships, culture, lived experiences and the broader contexts in which we live and learn. I work collaboratively with clients to explore how these influences shape their sense of self and relationships. I work with adults of all ages, backgrounds, and identities. I support clients with mood disorders, anxiety, stress, trauma, grief, identity exploration, and relationship challenges. I especially enjoy working with young adults, immigrants/international clients, and people navigating family conflict, acculturation, and career or academic pressure. Therapy can help you find relief from distress and free up the “stuck” places in your life, the ways of relating to yourself and others that can feel self-defeating, limiting or out of your control. This can lead to distress that may come in many forms: anxiety, anger, emptiness, detachment. Yet these experiences are not only a source of suffering, they are also a message that speaks to desires, conflicts, and pain. Together, we work to understand all this and place it in the context of where you come from and the world you live in now. The goal is relief from ways of being that cause distress, and to move toward ways that feel expressive of who you are, how you want to live, and what you want your relationships to be. I work with individuals and relationships and specialize in a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, difficulties in relationships, psychosis, and issues related to gender, sexual, or racial identity.
