I specialize in working with college-age clients who grew up in chaotic or neglectful households. My clients often appear to have it all together- high-achieving, involved on campus, the friend everyone leans on. Despite this, they struggle with anxiety in relationships, fear of others' judgment, difficulty letting people get close, exhaustion that rest doesn't fix, and a sense of being lost or like an imposter, even when things look good on paper. Often, at the core of these struggles are unresolved wounds or narratives from early in life. During our most formative years, we adopt lasting beliefs about ourselves and the world- a blueprint we carry into adulthood. For many of my clients, that blueprint is resurfacing now, in the first real independence of college: new relationships, distance from family, and the pressure to figure out who they are outside of old roles. It shapes how they connect with roommates, partners, and friends, and how they handle the stress of exams, deadlines, and an uncertain future- often without their realizing it. These narratives, inherited from caregivers, family, or environment, become deeply ingrained and unconscious. While they may have helped us survive earlier in life, they can become counterproductive as we step into adulthood, creating invisible barriers to connection and well-being. Putting these thoughts into words in a safe space allows them to surface where they can be understood and rewritten.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to the belief that connection - to ourselves, each other, and the natural world - is the catalyst for true transformation. While I welcome individuals at any stage of life's journey, I am especially passionate about supporting young adults, women, and those navigating depression, anxiety, ADHD, and Autism. My approach is rooted in meeting you exactly where you are to foster healing, growth, and meaningful change.
I work with young adults (18-30) on anxiety, social anxiety, and self esteem. Does this describe you? You are the lonely one; you feel unseen. You feel deeply, and your emotions are intense. You are jealous of others who find it easy to connect, and you want what they have. When you seek connection, people disappoint you with their lack of authenticity. You love, but don’t know how to be loved. You once thought a romantic relationship or best friend would be the solution; you would feel whole. But you did not feel complete, and happiness started to feel out of reach. Understanding in your relationships feels foreign. Despite your frustration, you are committed to finding understanding, being valued, and connecting with others. You want to shine and thrive. I know your inner world's importance. I am familiar with the challenge of discovering how to fit in the social world. Can you imagine yourself confidently connecting with others? Can you imagine being valued and heard? Together, we will find your confidence. We will explore fears, hang-ups, and insecurities together. Take the first step towards the confidence and connection you want! We live in a culture that constantly pushes us to do more, work harder, and question whether we’re ever “enough.” For many students, that pressure leads to stress, anxiety, and burnout. But thriving isn’t about pushing harder—it’s about finding balance, clarity, and a stronger sense of who you are and what you need. This work often extends into your relationships, your identity, and your sense of direction. I offer a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can slow down, explore what’s weighing on you, and develop a more grounded, sustainable way forward.

Hi! I'm a therapist licensed in Georgia and North Carolina. I help people who are feeling stressed and overwhelmed to better cope with challenges, change patterns of behavior that aren’t working, improve relationships with friends and family, and increase an overall sense of well being. By providing a safe, supportive, nonjudgmental, and welcoming space, I help you explore how social, political, economic, and cultural factors impact your health and wellbeing. My approach is compassionate, culturally-responsive, and identity-affirming, with a social justice perspective. Both my life and work experiences have shaped my work as a therapist. My life experience includes growing up as a child of Taiwanese immigrants, living in Europe as an adult, and advocating for social justice. My work experience includes providing counseling at Duke University Medical Center, Elon University Counseling Center, and multiple therapy agencies. In therapy sessions, I use various evidence-based treatments to help you work towards your personalized goals. You can learn ways to cope with stress, how to not let your emotions overwhelm you, and how to skillfully ask for what you need in your relationships. Sessions are offered online via a secure format. Before beginning therapy with any new client, I offer a free 15-minute consultation to answer any questions and to see if we are a good match to work well together.

We are invested in assisting with your healthy matriculation through your studies, and recognize that your mental well-being is vital to that process. Our owner, Dr. D'Angelo Lewis (Dr. Dee) was a college professor and advisor, as well as a Program Evaluator for UNC General Administration. He is very familiar with the rigors of higher education and the struggles that come along with the journey to graduating. As an undergraduate he not only attended school full-time, but did so with no home address, no financial support and with a toddler in tow. Imagine the dorm being your only home and feeding a child in the cafeteria! I promise that whatever you are enduring, Dr. Dee can relate and help you move your life forward.
*While I am not in-network with the Dartmouth Student Health Plan, I do bill that plan directly as an out-of-network provider, and students only pay a $30 copay each session.* I have been working with college-age students and young professionals throughout my career, and have previously been employed at both The University of Vermont and Dartmouth College. My goal is to understand my clients' concerns through their lens while reflecting back what seems to be getting in the way of achieving their goals. I am a compassionate provider, who actively engages with my clients making every effort to provide direct and honest feedback. I understand the rigors and challenges of adjusting to college life and the real and perceived pressure that many college students face. I spend time understanding what my clients are hoping to get from therapy, and work hard to help them move from suffering to thriving. As a Mental Health Counselor and Registered Dietitian I consider a client holistically when assessing their needs and focus on the health of the body and the mind.
