Therapists for college students near Duke University
I enjoy working with adolesents and young adults. I have worked in schools, clinics, hospitals and for the last several years I have been in solo private practice.
I enjoy working with young adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, and trauma. I have a passion for helping individuals reclaim their lives back from trauma, and I believe trauma therapy is more important now than ever. I believe the mind/body connection is very strong, and is important in mental health. I also work with clients who are experiencing stress, life transitions, and grief. I am an EMDRIA certified Therapist and IFS informed. I also use a lot of CBT, DBT, and mindfulness interventions. I am also very strengths- based. In my sessions, I aspire to offer a safe, supportive, and empowering environment to my clients, so they can be themselves, and work through whatever is keeping them from being their best selves. I operate through a strengths-based approach, and will try to bring laughter and humor into the sessions (when appropriate) as laughter is the best medicine.
Often, everyday transitions and the stressors of life can be overwhelming. Sometimes what has worked before just isn't working anymore, which may cause you to feel you are failing in some areas of your life. As your therapist, you and I will seek to discover attainable goals, strive after a healthier and more grounded sense of self, and bring you peace toward a more fulfilling and hopeful future. I can help you manage whatever life throws your way through proven therapeutic techniques. I am a board-certified telemental health provider, and I administer individualized therapy to each of my clients. I utilize cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapeutic techniques as well as Brainspotting within my sessions. I work in the treatment of anxiety, depression, anger management, social skills, difficulties with transitions, Trauma, and ADHD. I believe all individuals deserve a place where they can speak openly and feel safe and free of judgment. My goal is to provide an intimate and calming environment for my clients where they can express themselves freely from the comfort of their own homes.
I practice with science-supported strategies to help people reduce stress, make health behavior changes (e.g., eat healthier), and adjust to illness or injury. I also work extensively with individuals who experience anxiety, depression, body image concerns, and disordered eating. I am trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and positive psychology interventions. I conduct teletherapy and am licensed for residents in North Carolina and all the states in PSYPACT (https://psypact.site-ym.com/page/psypactmap) . Teletherapy has been found to be comparably effective to in-person therapy. It also offers greater flexibility, accessibility, and privacy. I'd be happy to work with you!

I enjoy helping to support people as they navigate through the many different waves of life. I help to create a warm, non judgmental, and supportive environment where clients are free to talk about their stories. I draw from a number of different treatment modalities, but most importantly, meet the client where they are at. While each individual's experience is unique, I regularly work with clients around topics related to anxiety, depression, obsessive thoughts, relationship concerns, sexuality, ADHD, life's transitions, familial conflict and many more. In this busy world, it can be difficult to make time to focus on your needs. Therapy provides a space to do so and share your story in a safe and non judgmental environment. Sessions are a time to practice self care, utilize your strengths, and develop tools that help you gain a better understanding of you. I would love to have the chance to work with you and hear your story. Currently, sessions are teletherapy based allowing you more flexibility to be in a familiar setting and join from any mobile or desktop device. I would love to help you with the process of learning more about you and develop the tools to navigate the many waves of life.

I have always had a calling for helping others, and I am so grateful to have found the career path of clinical social work. I was inspired to become a therapist after I met with a therapist after my father passed away when I was a young girl. I know first-hand how scary it can be to share your story, but trust me having an un-biased, non-judgmental, listening ear can go a long way. I have gained valuable skills working in various settings, including non-profit work, public health, research, and inpatient hospitalization. My experiences have allowed me to work with people of all ages, across diverse backgrounds, and on the individual, family, and group level. I work with individuals aged 12 and up, couples, and families. Prior to joining Wake Counseling & Mediation, I worked with adults who have chronic health conditions using my training in Lifestyle Medicine, a holistic approach to preventing disease through nutrition, exercise, and self-care habits. I additionally have worked closely with the gender diverse population by addressing anxiety, depression, and gender dysphoria, creating a support group, and engaging in research to better gender affirming care. I also have clinical experience in counseling pregnant & postpartum women, their children and families. Depending on your needs, I utilize a variety of modalities including Solutions-Focused, Psychodynamic, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Exposure Therapy. I prefer to use a multicultural, person-centered, and strengths-based lens in all situations. No matter the setting or population, I provide a passionate and caring approach for patients to work through all of life’s challenges, whether that be chronic illness, major life transitions, mental health concerns including anxiety, depression trauma, and sexual or gender identity journey.
