Welcome I'm Melissa and I'm so glad you landed here! I work with young adults who are feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges—whether it’s relationship struggles, a constant worry loop that you can't get out of, low mood, struggles with food and body image, or difficulty with change. If you're reading this, you might be feeling out of balance or disconnected from what’s meaningful to you. Maybe you’re not sure what’s meaningful right now. You could be stuck in old patterns that no longer serve you, unsure about your next steps, or just know something feels "off" without being able to explain why. Or maybe you just need a safe space to explore it all. Whatever you're experiencing, it’s all valid—and it’s all welcome here.
Perhaps you’ve noticed feeling more anxious or depressed lately, but aren’t sure why, or what you can do to feel like yourself again. Perhaps you’re struggling with relationship tensions, feeling stagnant in studies or find yourself just more generally in a rut. You may be feeling well overall but want to get a grasp on certain issues in your life. Now might be the right time to break free of those patterns and explore other ways of thinking, feeling and being in the world. I offer a non-judgmental space to learn more about yourself, what you want, and how to get there. My practice is depth-oriented; we work collaboratively to get to the root of your problems so you can move forward both with my help and on your own. We learn together to listen better to you so that you can come into a more solid and vital sense of yourself.
I'm a college professor at Fordham University in the psychology department. I specialize in working with college students experiencing anxiety (including social anxiety, OCD, worry, panic, phobias, and more). I graduated from Duke University with a psychology major and I have a PhD in clinical psychology from UCLA. I usually work from a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) orientation, which is the top evidence-based approach for many forms of anxiety, but this can be flexible depending on client needs & preferences. Please get in touch to learn more about my practice! Whether it's your freshman or senior year, college is a time of change and transition. You may be thinking about giving therapy a try to manage all the stress of independence, grades, social life, athletics, relationships, and making decisions about your future. The pressure of college can be a lot. Therapy can be a place to learn healthy ways to cope with these challenges and build confidence in yourself to get through hard times. If you are someone that is creative or has felt "stuck" with traditional talk therapy, I'm happy to also offer art therapy. I'm here to support college students gain insights about who they are and who they want to be.
If you’re looking to have the space to explore issues and experiences that have impacted your life, I may be a good fit for you! I work with individuals struggling to navigate mood disorders, anxiety, history of trauma, and interpersonal distress. Additionally, as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I have first-hand experience with the challenges and fears that come with developing, growing, and accepting your identity. I believe healing can happen through processing your experiences and receiving empathy, support, and honest feedback. My approach to therapy includes using skills from CBT, DBT, and CPT to help understand and change thoughts and behaviors. Together we will work to create a deeper understanding of unhelpful patterns that may be present in your life. I will aim to gently push you out of your comfort zone in order to avoid repeating these patterns. Finding the right therapist for you can be difficult and take time. If you think I may be able to help, please reach out to me to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation. During that call we can address your questions, goals, and our compatibility. If we determine we are a good fit together, I’d be happy to schedule an appointment!

College is a time of real growth — and real pressure. For many students, it's also when questions about identity, mental health, and how they move through the world come into sharper focus. I work with college students who are navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, identity exploration, trauma history, or the particular exhaustion that comes with being neurodivergent in demanding academic environments. Many of the young adults I work with are autistic, ADHD, or both — and are often doing so without the scaffolding that got them through high school. Others are transgender or gender-diverse, and are figuring out who they are while managing minority stress, family dynamics, and systems that don't always make things easy. My approach is relational and collaborative. I don't follow a rigid protocol — I draw from ACT, DBT, and CBT, and I tailor what we do to who you are and what you actually need. Sessions are a place to build insight, develop real skills, and figure out how to live more fully as yourself. I'm a licensed clinical psychologist with advanced training in gender-diverse care, trauma, and neurodevelopment. Before opening my practice, I spent two years at Yale's Pediatric Gender Program and completed my doctoral internship at Yale School of Medicine. I keep my caseload focused so I can do this work with the depth it deserves. Sessions are available via telehealth across Connecticut and New York, and in person in Southington, CT — which may be convenient for students at nearby colleges and universities. I also see adolescents and teens, so referrals for younger clients are welcome. I'm happy to connect with counseling center staff to discuss fit, coordination of care, or consultation. The best way to reach me is through my website or by phone.
