Therapists for college students near 10003
I tend to work best with college students and young adults who look “high-functioning” on the outside but feel overwhelmed on the inside. Many of the students I see are smart, reflective, and trying hard — yet struggling with anxiety, mood swings, burnout, panic, or a constant feeling of pressure to perform or hold everything together. You might feel stuck between who you were expected to be and who you’re becoming. You may overthink conversations, feel emotionally exhausted, struggle with motivation, or feel disconnected from yourself or others. Some students I work with have experienced past stress or trauma that still shows up in their body — through anxiety, sleep issues, emotional shutdown, or feeling on edge — even if “nothing bad” seems to be happening now. In therapy, we move at your pace. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear goal right away. My approach is supportive, curious, and collaborative — focused on helping you understand what’s happening beneath the surface and develop tools that actually feel usable in real life. Therapy with me is a space to slow down, feel less alone, and build steadiness during a demanding and uncertain chapter of life. I will be getting credentialed with additional insurances and accepting private pay-please feel free to check back or reach out if you have any additional questions or concerns.
Hello! My name is Jessica and I am a psychotherapist here to help you learn more about yourself and live a more fulfilling life. I work primarily with young adults, adults, however, I also have experience with children and teenagers. I specialize in anxiety and depression, as well as trauma. My approach to therapy is helping my clients learn more about themselves and empowering them to make changes that will meet their needs. My clients can expect to feel more self-aware and at peace with themselves. They can also expect to have a greater understanding of their emotions and triggers.
As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at HOClinical, I work best with students who are high-achieving, driven, and carrying more than they let people see. Many of the students I support are balancing academics, work, family expectations, and relationships — while quietly dealing with anxiety, low mood, burnout, ADHD, sleep problems, or feeling overwhelmed. Some are struggling to focus. Others feel stuck, unmotivated, or not like themselves anymore. Many say, “I should be able to handle this,” but feel exhausted trying. If you’re a student who wants practical tools, clear guidance, and a provider who truly listens without judgment, we’re likely a good fit. I offer a supportive, down-to-earth approach that combines thoughtful medication management (when appropriate) with real strategies you can use right away to feel better, think clearly, and perform at your best. You don’t have to wait until you’re in crisis to get support. If you’re ready to feel more balanced, focused, and in control again, HOClinical is here to help.
I have experience in supporting and empowering BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ clients by creating a liberating space free of judgment and stigmatization, and by providing holistic care in your quest for healthier mental health.
My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that every person has unique strengths and inner resources to draw from. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to explore their goals at their own pace. My approach is person-centered and culturally responsive, honoring each individual’s identity, background, and lived experiences. I draw on trauma-informed and evidence-based practices to support clients through life’s challenges, whether that means navigating transitions, managing stress, strengthening relationships, or building resilience. I see therapy as a partnership, where we work together to develop practical skills, deepen self-awareness, and foster greater balance and well-being. At the heart of my work is a commitment to helping clients feel more connected to themselves, to others, and to their communities. My goal is to walk alongside each person as they discover new ways of coping, healing, and growing.
Therapy is a powerful tool in the process of inviting our most authentic selves to emerge. My approach is grounded in an integrative blend of Eastern and Western modalities and philosophies with the goal of fostering a greater connection between the mind, body, and spirit. In sessions, we will bring awareness to the relationship between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to better understand the blockages that are preventing you from living a fully expressed life. I provide a compassionate and safe container to work towards healing past wounds while addressing present problems. I received my Master of Education in Mental Health Counseling from Fordham University and have been trained in Holistic Psychotherapy by Rebecca Greene, LMHC, CYT. My treatment modalities include Psychodynamic, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness, Relationship Counseling, and Interpersonal Psychology. I have experience working with a wide range of clients across various stages of life who are working through issues related to relationships, codependency, grief, past and present trauma, anxiety, stress, and the feeling of overwhelm, spirituality, self-esteem, and emotional regulation. I am affirming of diverse orientations, identities, relationships, and family systems including, but not limited to Polyamory and Consensual Non Monogamy, LGBTQAI2+, Genderqueer, Kink/BDSM, Monogamous, Straight, and committed Allies and family members. When life feels unpredictable or overwhelming, therapy offers a space to pause and find your footing. Balancing academic pressure, family expectations, and questions about identity can feel especially heavy. I work with students navigating transitions such as starting a new school, adjusting to college, graduating, or finding their place in demanding environments. Therapy with me is a supportive, judgment-free space where you can openly explore stress, identity, relationships, past experiences, and self-doubt. Together, we’ll build coping tools, confidence, and self-compassion, so you don’t have to carry everything on your own.

We have extensive experience working with young adults and college students, with a focus on anxiety, trauma and PTSD, relationship issues, and the life transitions and adjustment challenges that come with the college years — including career planning and decision-making around majors and future paths. As founder and clinical director, I bring direct experience with this population from my time at the NYU Student Health Center, where I provided psychotherapy and crisis assessment to college students, and I currently work with students from Columbia in private practice as well. I look for that same population experience when I bring clinicians onto the team, so it runs through the practice rather than being one person's specialty. Our team is trained in CBT, DBT, ERP, ACT, and psychodynamic approaches, with treatment that's short-term and goal-directed. We accept a wide range of insurance plans, including Aetna and Cigna, and are currently accepting new clients.

Before becoming a therapist, I was a college professor. My favorite part of the job was supporting students who were going through it, whether because of the transition of becoming a college student, or because they were experiencing mental health challenges for the first time--or a worsening of symptoms. I love working with clients who are dealing with perfectionism, people-pleasing/boundary setting, communication challenges (with family, roommates, friends, partners), general anxiety, social anxiety, depression, and OCD. I also have a lot of experience and passion working with clients navigating gender and sexuality, including being on the ace/aro spectrums.
Seeing clients virtually only at the moment. Please see my website for a complete description of my practice and approach.
