Have trained at college counseling centers, I often work well with students who feel caught between different expectations—school, family, relationships, culture, identity, or future plans. You may be LGBTQ+, international, first-generation, or simply feeling stressed and unsure where you fit. Therapy can help you feel less alone, understand yourself more clearly, and make choices that feel more like your own.

I work to empower clients to create positive change in their lives. I specialize in anxiety, self-esteem, depression, stress management, and queer issues. I offer a combination of CBT, DBT, Mindfulness training, and other evidenced based techniques to bring awareness to the power and personal responsibility in each of us. I support individuals to navigate through stressors and life transitions. I help individuals to enhance communication skills to foster empowerment while strengthening confidence in their ability to create positive change. My goal is to support you to empower yourself to make informed decisions that align with your values and desired outcomes. I utilize Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution Focused and Strengths Based approaches to remain action oriented, collaboratively working towards your goals. I support clients with developing awareness and viewing the big picture. For me therapy is the work that you do outside of the session time. The mindful & intentional efforts you make to reflect & apply new skills as well as new perspectives to your day-to-day experience; that's where the change will really take place. The work I do with my clients is often centered around Self-Love; being able to nurture acceptance of your true self is often the key to alleviating a vast number of concerns and challenges. I feel passionate about supporting individuals & couples to re-define their boundaries & take ownership of their identity. Collaboration is the key to success!

I have a particular interest and experience in working with OCD and generalized anxiety-related concerns. I'm interested in how factors that include intrusive thoughts, avoidance patterns, excessive responsibility, and chronic worry can gradually restrict a person's functioning and quality of life. I've also worked with a lot of immigrant populations, particularly Chinese and Chinese-American clients who are going through anxiety, depression, and other interpersonal or adjustment concerns. In treatment, I focus on helping patients better understand the emotional and cognitive processes underlying their anxiety while gradually building tolerance toward uncertainty, discomfort, and feared experiences through insight-oriented and behavioral approaches, including exposure therapy. My passion for my work is simple: I want to be of help. I believe many people struggle not only because of symptoms themselves, but because they feel misunderstood, isolated, or ashamed of their experiences. I want to help patients make sense of their emotional patterns in a way that feels compassionate, not pathologizing.

Jim is currently a staff therapist for Sarah Lawrence College and is offering telehealth therapeutic support through his private practice in New York State. While he has experience supporting a wide range of clients, Jim’s time at SLC has helped him hone his skill set with undergraduate and graduate students, athletes, members of the queer- and trans communities, and performing artists. Jim uses an eclectic therapeutic approach, combining psychodynamic, person-centered, REBT and IFS modalities to address the needs of his clients. His 25-year acting career (Broadway, national tours, regional theatre, new works, concerts, etc.) informs his curiosity about how we may authentically inhabit the various roles we all play in our lives.

Are you trying to manage your stress in the ever-growing tumultuous environment? Are you working from home having a hard time juggling with family life? Perhaps you have a challenge with practicing effective communication? Or maybe just talking about your issues can be difficult, and that's ok. Do you want to learn more about yourself, how to cope in a healthy way, and have better communication? I can help. In my practice, I respect the unique experience of each individual. I see the particular difficulties that each faces. I listen and interact with empathy and provide insight and support. No two treatments are the same. Using techniques from Solution-Focused Psychotherapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I offer support and teach skills to help you change negative thought patterns, increase your coping strategies, and feel more empowered. We’ll work side-by-side to ensure your success. I believe it is important to feel heard, validated, and understood. We need to feel purposeful and that we matter. We can't change difficult situations of the past, but we can work together to better understand them and to resolve current challenges in your life. I offer a safe place for you to discuss your feelings and emotions without judgment.

Many of my clients are young adults, college students, graduate students, and working professionals who appear successful on the outside but feel overwhelmed on the inside. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, chronic stress, burnout, low motivation, self-doubt, or difficulty navigating life transitions. Together, we identify the patterns keeping them stuck, build practical coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and goal-oriented, helping clients develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and confidence in themselves and their future. I specialize in anxiety, depression, stress management, motivation, and self-esteem. Drawing from DBT, mindfulness-based practices, and Adlerian therapy, I help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical tools for everyday life. My goal as a therapist is to create a space where you can exhale, a place where you don’t have to hold everything together. Healing begins with compassion and connection, and real change happens when we feel understood without judgment. I don’t see my clients as diagnoses or problems to be fixed, but as whole people with complex stories.

We specialize in working with survivors of sexual violence, both from childhood and adulthood. Our services are fully virtual, and we offer both individual and group therapy. Sessions with me are relaxed, productive, and quite often include some laughter mixed in! Clients can feel comfortable sharing as much, or as little, of their stories as they wish. Having a history of sexual violence can have a tremendous effect on our lives, consciously and unconsciously, impacting current relationships, our sense-of-self, and the way we connect with others. Our all-women team of therapists help clients build coping skills, reduce PTSD symptoms, and feel happier and safer as they move through the world. We operate from a feminist perspective and utilize trauma-informed approaches to foster resiliency and empower women to achieve all that they are capable of.

College brings a mix of new freedom, academic pressure, shifting relationships, and questions about who you want to become. If you are struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, mood changes, relationship stress, or the challenges of adjusting to college life, you deserve support that helps you feel understood and steady again. I offer a warm and collaborative space where you can talk openly about what you are experiencing while feeling supported to grow in ways that are both meaningful and sustainable. My goal is to understand you fully, help you reconnect with your strengths, and work with you to create a life that feels more manageable and more aligned with who you want to be. My approach is grounded in evidence-based care. I integrate DBT-informed treatment, CBT, relational therapy, and mindfulness-based strategies to help you understand the patterns and experiences that shape you while also building practical skills. Together, we focus on emotional regulation, coping tools, communication, boundary setting, academic stress management, and the internal pressures that often surface during college. Therapy is flexible, collaborative, and tailored to your needs so you can make real and lasting change. I have extensive experience working with adolescents and young adults in settings where emotional well-being and academic demands overlap. Alongside my private practice, I work at a specialized therapeutic high school where I support students managing stress, perfectionism, identity development, and transitions into college and adulthood. In this role, I coordinate DBT programming, provide training and consultation to faculty, and oversee the integration of skills into the broader school culture. I also supervise doctoral trainees, which reflects my commitment to high-quality, evidence-based care and to training the next generation of clinicians.

Have you ever said, "I feel good when I am dancing/ drawing/ coloring/ writing/ creating art, etc?" Do you struggle with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, or simply haven't been feeling like yourself? Are you looking to let go of these struggles, gain control of your anxiety, become your best self, and enjoy life again? If so, you've come to the right human. I work with women and femmes who enjoy art-making (movement, art, creative writing, etc) to overcome low self-esteem, anxiety, past traumas, and depression using creative arts therapy. Together we use the arts to process and release things we no longer need to hold on to, becoming free, healed, and more in tune with our most authentic, divine self. You deserve a life of joy, prosperity, and wellness. I believe in the power within you to overcome your struggles. Together we will use the arts for your healing. The healing begins with ourselves. From there, we can heal our family, our community, our nation, and then the world.

As a daughter of immigrants, I know firsthand the stigma that surrounds communities of color when it comes to mental health. My goal is to serve as a source of support in the healing process of BIPOC communities. Often, my clients arrive at sessions feeling lost and overwhelmed with cultural and societal expectations. I want to provide you with a space where you can feel safe, feel seen, be vulnerable, and work towards healing and connectedness. I work with individuals to help unlearn patterns and behaviors that are no longer serving them. I specialize in working with Latinx, millennials, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA communities. I integrate trauma-informed and experiential approaches in our work together to alleviate your distress and help you understand how your lived experiences have shaped your journey (e.g grief, life transitions). Our work together will be rooted in unpacking traumatic experiences, childhood experiences, challenging thinking patterns, and acculturative stress. I strongly believe the therapeutic relationship is integral to our work together. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to ensure I am the right therapist. Feel free to check out my website for more information about me and my practice. I look forward to hearing from you. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists/bermejo-mental-health--bronx-ny/1098886

Life can feel overwhelming these days, and meaningful relationships, joys and values can be hard to sustain. The coping patterns we adopt often get in the way of feeling better, and connected with others. My practice fosters an empathetic environment where clients are at ease exploring emotions and concerns. Collaboratively, we address issues such as anxiety, depression and self-esteem struggles, and tackle problems such as relationship difficulties, life transitions, loss and school-related stressors. Jointly, we will define concrete goals, develop real-life coping skills and become more aware of underlying barriers to well-being. I am an LCSW (NYU) with a psychodynamic approach. I also draw on techniques from mindfulness-based therapies and trauma-informed methodologies. A former art history professor and undergraduate advisor (B.A. & M.A., Williams; Ph.D. U.Chicago), I understand the particular challenges college students face. Often, the hardest step about therapy is the decision to begin. I welcome the opportunity to meet you and explore how I can be helpful to you.
