Life can feel overwhelming. You might be carrying past trauma, facing anxiety that won’t ease, or navigating a lingering sadness. Maybe you’re exploring how your identity has been shaped by culture, history, or generational pain—and you’re ready to reclaim your voice. Whatever brings you here, I want you to know: reaching out is a powerful first step. As a therapist with over a decade of experience, I create a trauma-informed space where you feel seen and supported. Together, we’ll face the hard stuff while making room for healing, hope, and growth. I specialize in trauma, anxiety, depression, identity, and life transitions. My approach is rooted in decolonizing therapy—honoring how colonization, systemic oppression, and cultural narratives impact mental health. We’ll gently examine and unlearn internalized beliefs, reconnect with your resilience, and center your wisdom. This work isn’t just about surviving—it’s about liberation. I believe in the power of healing, especially in the face of profound pain. Therapy for me is about coming home to yourself—finding strength, wholeness, and meaning. If you're seeking someone who deeply listens, understands your complexity, and honors your story, I’d be honored to share this space.
I enjoy helping to support people as they navigate through the many different waves of life. I help to create a warm, non judgmental, and supportive environment where clients are free to talk about their stories. I draw from a number of different treatment modalities, but most importantly, meet the client where they are at. While each individual's experience is unique, I regularly work with clients around topics related to anxiety, depression, obsessive thoughts, relationship concerns, sexuality, ADHD, life's transitions, familial conflict and many more. In this busy world, it can be difficult to make time to focus on your needs. Therapy provides a space to do so and share your story in a safe and non judgmental environment. Sessions are a time to practice self care, utilize your strengths, and develop tools that help you gain a better understanding of you. I would love to have the chance to work with you and hear your story. Currently, sessions are teletherapy based allowing you more flexibility to be in a familiar setting and join from any mobile or desktop device. I would love to help you with the process of learning more about you and develop the tools to navigate the many waves of life.
I'm a mental health counselor specializing in anxiety, ADHD, boundary setting, life transitions, trauma, and generational trauma in young adults and adults, particularly women of color and the LGBTQIA+ community. Together, we create structure, set boundaries, and navigate identity and life changes, including bouts of depression or the weight of past childhood trauma and grief. Each patient brings their own unique life experiences, and it's important to examine those qualities together and collaborate on your goals. I look forward to supporting you on that journey. An integrative approach, drawing on person-centered and cognitive behavioral theories, shapes how I help you become the best version of yourself. Together, we'll build a collaborative process tailored to your goals. I'm passionate about supporting you on your journey toward self-discovery and personal growth, and you can expect a supportive, judgment-free environment along the way. My path to becoming a therapist began with working to reduce mental health stigma, promote community resources, and advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community. This experience deepened my commitment to bringing a compassionate, non-judgmental understanding of the complexities and nuances that often deter people of color from opening up about their struggles and seeking help – an understanding I bring to each session. When I’m not in session, I love to crochet, cook, and bake. I also enjoy traveling and caring for my plants.
As a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), I work with individuals and families navigating life across a variety of backgrounds, beliefs, and identities. I work particularly well with kids and teens (ages 5–17), college students, and adults, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, supporting them through anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, and the kind of stressful situations that can leave you feeling overwhelmed or unsure of where you belong. My personal experience in therapy has been profoundly transformative, and it’s that firsthand understanding of what genuine, effective care feels like that drives my commitment to providing it. If you're carrying the weight of difficult emotions, searching for your sense of purpose, or trying to build more meaningful relationships and you're not sure where to start, that's okay. We'll figure it out together. I believe healing happens when you feel safe enough to be honest, messy, and to move at your own pace, even when that feels like navigating a storm you can't see through. I don't come into sessions with a script; I come with genuine curiosity about you specifically, and a warm but grounded approach built around you, not a formula. Our work together is your umbrella in the storm, the light on the horizon, and, eventually, the clearing. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), adapting to what you need session to session. Together we'll build real insight, practical tools, and ways forward that feel sustainable and true to who you are. Before becoming a therapist, I spent four years working in community and supportive housing, where I served individuals navigating untreated and under-treated mental illness while trying to maintain stable lives. What struck me wasn't just how much they were struggling; it was how many barriers stood between them and the real support they needed. I became a therapist because I believe mental health care isn't a luxury, it's infrastructure. And everyone deserves access to it. Outside of the office, you'll find me on a yoga mat, at a Pilates class, or at a restaurant trying something I've never eaten before. I love spending time with my husband, and when we're not home, there's a good chance we're somewhere on the opposite side of the world. International travel isn't just a hobby for me, it's a reminder that there are as many ways to live a meaningful life as there are people living them, and that perspective finds its way into my work every single day.
If you've experienced abuse, assault, or trauma, you know the impact can feel overwhelming, affecting your sense of self, emotional wellbeing, and the relationships in your life. I specialize in supporting individuals healing from sexual, physical, emotional, or spiritual abuse and trauma, helping you rediscover freedom and connection. I also enjoy working with individuals exploring their gender or sexual identity and the LGBTQIA2S+ community, offering a compassionate, nonjudgmental space to process and find joy. With nearly a decade of experience, I'm here to affirm that healing is possible. I use EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and more to support healing from sexual assault/abuse, emotional/physical/spiritual abuse, trauma/PTSD, and relationship challenges. I provide a warm, affirming space for LGBTQIA2S+ folks and those exploring gender or sexual identity. I also offer EMDR Intensives for focused healing. Whatever you're struggling with, I'm not here to save or cure you. What I can offer is support, companionship, guidance, and practical tips as you engage the simple and difficult process of dressing wounds, remembering how to draw in nourishment, and reorienting toward your own ‘true north.’ The long-term goal of this work is not to help you become more 'well-adjusted,' but more fully yourself in a world that often makes that difficult. It may be hard to hear, but that deep-in-your-bones longing really matters. You may have forgotten it, ridiculed it, buried it for any number of very sensible reasons; but I assure you it is waiting patiently for your return. That longing, that certain something that you can't seem to find anywhere? That is yours to grow into. And I would propose that that becoming, that filling in of the larger You, is essential not only to your own sanity, but to the health of all Life. In that spirit I may challenge you to look at the ways that you are evading the responsibility of becoming. But believe me, I evade too. I will regard you with tenderness and understanding even as I ask you to do the terrifying – trust yourself a little more. Fill your form. I hold a master's degree in mindfulness-based transpersonal clinical mental health counseling from Naropa University, and am licensed to practice professional counseling in New York and Colorado.
My approach to the therapeutic process is built on trust, authenticity and growth. I combine warmth and comfort with gentle directness, helping you feel supported while also encouraging meaningful growth and personal accountability. Rather then offering quick fixes, I work alongside you to better understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, even if at times it is hard to hear.
Maybe you’ve been the “easy kid” — the one who doesn’t make waves, keeps it together, and takes care of everyone else. On the outside, you look fine. Inside, you feel unseen, weighed down, or like no one really gets you. I’m Citlali (seet-la-lee), but most call me Lali (like lollipop) a therapist who helps young adults with parents who can’t always show up emotionally. In therapy, you don’t have to pretend or be “the strong one.” This is a space just for you — to talk about what’s real, to figure out who you are, and to feel supported instead of alone. Reach out to schedule your free 15 minute intro call to see if we're a good fit together! I look forward to connecting soon :)

I strive to support individuals facing complex cognitive, behavioral, and emotional challenges. Clients usually come to me when they feel stuck or misunderstood due to the chronic stress of anxiety, depression, rigid patterns, or daily executive functioning hurdles. Often, they are looking for answers through psychological evaluation, or they are trying to support their child/themselves through challenges. I aim to help clients move forward by collaborating on a practical roadmap that honors their unique lived experience. I offer objective, detailed assessments to uncover accurate answers for a variety of psychological disorders or behavioral profiles. I also offer targeted psychotherapy (CBT, ERP, ACT, mindfulness-based, and play therapy) to build practical emotional regulation and coping skills. Managing these challenges can feel exhausting, and finding the right support can feel daunting. I provide a straightforward, collaborative partnership where you don't have to hide your struggles. When you feel ready to explore working together or need an evaluation, I invite you to reach out for an initial consultation.
The ordinary acts of speaking and listening, in the extraordinary context of the psychoanalytic setting, make it possible to discover oneself anew, or perhaps for the very first time. I work with adolescents and adults to explore difficulties in the areas of sexuality, creativity, relationships, work, and play. I aim to create an environment in which you can say anything, paying careful attention to whatever obstacles may stand in the way of speaking freely. My approach is to accompany you through a process whereby something new might happen. -- In addition to my clinical practice, I am a scholar of psychoanalytic theory and history. I hold a PhD in Literature with specializations in feminist and queer theory, cultural studies, and global modernisms.
