The way we think about ourselves and the world we are in greatly influences our feelings and actions. If we take the time to consider other alternatives, we might be able to see events from a more helpful perspective, and with practice, engage in more beneficial behaviors. I enjoy making my clients be active participants in their journey towards emotional wellness. My clients are the experts on their own life, and my job is to help you come to discover what is best for yourself. I acknowledge the intersectionality of everyone’s identity to create a welcoming, healing environment to all of my clients. I specialize in working with adolescents, emerging adults of color from the LGBTQ+ community, and work with clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, coming out, and life transitions. Exploring therapy does not make us "crazy" as many of us might've heard at one point or another. Give yourself the opportunity to be in a supportive space in which you are able to untangle your thoughts and emotions; where you are heard and validated. Let's pave the way towards the creation of healthier coping mechanisms and emotional wellness together.

Are you the go-to person at school, at home, and with friends? You might even feel resentful sometimes - you do so much for others, but you're not getting that same care back from them. And that only makes you feel "selfish" and more guilty! Helping people break free from overworking & resentment is my passion. Many of my clients are people who have partners, friends, or family members living with alcoholism/substance use disorders, mental health concerns, and chronic health issues. You don't have to handle this alone, and you can feel more empowered, connected, and at peace in your life. I offer both psychotherapy and career coaching for my clients. We have room to explore how your past experiences have shaped you, examine the systemic barriers you are facing, build on your strengths and skills, and focus on specific action steps you can take to make changes in your life now. My style is warm, interactive, and practical, focused on helping you gain self-compassion & confidence. If you'd like to talk more, please email me to schedule a free phone consultation. I'd love to hear from you!

You may feel stuck, uncertain about yourself, overwhelmed by life transitions, or carrying the weight of the past. These moments hold emotional truths that deserve to be seen, heard, and understood. When we meet them with care and curiosity, they can become powerful entry points to deeper self-discovery and lasting self-compassion. The process of turning inward, increasing self-awareness and self-kindness, can be complex, but it often opens the door to meaningful growth. My role is to offer a safe, judgment-free space where this kind of exploration can unfold. I feel honored to walk alongside individuals as they reconnect with the parts of themselves that may feel lost, silenced, or in conflict. My approach is person-centered and psychodynamic, grounded in empathy and with a deep respect for your unique story. Together, we’ll explore your inner world at a pace that feels right for you. Individuals often share that they feel at ease in our sessions, able to speak freely, even when the emotions are difficult to name. Therapy with me is a collaborative process, grounded in trust, where you can feel empowered to take steps that align with your values. If you're ready to begin, or even just curious, I welcome you to reach out!

I believe that each person wants to find fulfillment in life, and that through the therapeutic relationship, we can work together to achieve this goal. In today's world, there are so many pressures and obstacles that people face on a daily basis. I work to help people identify the factors that affect their lives, assist them in gaining insight into the causes of their problems, and develop real-life solutions to address problematic issues. I use techniques from various types of therapy to achieve this. I work to help people identify their strengths in order to increase resiliency and autonomy and develop growing self-respect. I specialize in treating couples, college students and young professionals, and individuals with borderline personality disorder. I have extensive training in emotionally-focused couples therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy, and I draw from these approaches to best treat each unique person and couple. Perhaps more than any other part of therapy or specific technique, I believe that my empathy, genuine care, and desire to help people are my greatest assets. I devote myself completely to my work and to the people I treat, and strive to make treatment as effective and meaningful as possible, with the continuous goal of creating progress in people's lives.

I believe that each and every individual is unique, from the issues you face to the path in which life has taken you. I apply this idea to every client that I work with. I work hard to listen to your struggles, help you process the emotions you may be facing, and collaborate to find solutions that are going to be the best fit for you. I look for clients who are open to an equal amount of support and challenge from their therapist, as I believe both of those ideas are vital to making positive growth in life.

With 15 years’ experience as a bilingual Psychotherapist working with very diverse populations from adults to adolescents who experience depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD I learned that not everyone feels comfortable going to speak to a therapist in a traditional setting like an office. This is why I offer “Walk Talk Therapy” and mobile therapy. I want to eliminate as many barriers as possible for you to get the help you need. Just as we are all encouraged to exercise for our physical health, I believe everyone should connect with a professional therapist to strengthen one’s emotional health. Clinical Social Work/Therapist
New York, NY

Hello, I am Mary Brodsky, LCSW, and I have 25 years of experience helping people struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, childhood trauma, and work-related issues, among others. My practice was in New York City for most of my career, and many of my clients have been people in the arts. I have worked with clients of all ages, sexual orientations, ethnicities, and life circumstances. Also, I am open to exploring people’s spiritual and religious beliefs and have found this can be an essential part of healing in therapy. In my experience, a positive and supportive relationship with a skilled therapist has been most helpful and healing for clients. This relationship is something that I try to cultivate with each of my clients as a basis for our work together. My approach with clients is psychodynamic, eclectic, and insight-oriented, which means we will be looking at recurrent patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Psychodynamics seeks to heal by gaining emotional insight into the connection between past difficult experiences and current problems. As in cognitive behavioral approaches, I look at the content of thoughts, but understanding how and why those thought patterns developed is critical. Please be aware that our first few sessions will be for us to get to know one another and to evaluate, together, if we are a good fit and can work together effectively to help you to heal. Once we gain an initial understanding of your issues and goals, we will come up with how we may best address them. The path to healing is different for everyone, and you and I will together find the approach that is the most effective for you. This may include coming up with self-soothing or coping strategies, understanding and analyzing dreams, or looking at the impact of early trauma. You are unique, and I will adapt how I work with you accordingly. You may have many questions and concerns if this is your first time working with a therapist. I am always open to these and hope you will feel empowered to give me honest feedback about how you would like us to work together. I am part of the Path referral network, which means that when you reach out, my team will get back to you quickly to schedule our first session. I am committed to making therapy affordable. Through Path, I am in-network for most commercial insurances, so you're only responsible for your co-pay!
