Harrison, NY

I am a clinical psychologist licensed in New York, offering comprehensive psychological services for children, adolescents, and adults. I am committed to helping people struggling with a variety of individual, family, and relationship difficulties. Because an individual's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, my approach involves collaboratively helping clients achieve healthy change in all three areas. I also firmly believe that a warm, accepting, and non-judgmental approach is critical for therapeutic success. In my practice, evaluations, psychotherapy, and psychological testing are provided in a professional, confidential and comfortable environment.

I often work with young people struggling to understand who they are and why they do the things they do. This may be felt as a gnawing sense of dissatisfaction or despair, or a more intense experience of feeling lost and out of control. We work together to identify your concerns in a safe environment that emphasizes giving language to emotional experience, identifying unconscious patterns of behavior, and finding meaning in your life.

Those who seek my services are often looking to quiet their anxious minds, set boundaries in their relationships, and feel more confident on their life path. Trying to balance personal relationships with career/school, all while trying to convince everyone that you're in control and that you know what you're doing is exhausting. Life doesn't have to feel this hard! Our work together will involve identifying and removing barriers to your ideal life. Often that means learning to quiet the anxious voice inside your mind, shifting perspective, and unlearning the behaviors which have kept you stuck for so long. There’s no “one-size-fits-all” strategy. That is why I take the time to get to know you, see issues through your perspective, and create an individualized plan to help you reach your goals.

Psychiatrist
Somerville, MA

I graduated from UMass Medical school and was trained in adult psychiatry at Cambridge Health Alliance, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital. Prior to going to medical school I received a Masters in Teaching from Boston University and worked as a teacher. This unique background affects my approach to psychiatry. I believe that a good psychiatrist should work with you to help you learn about yourself and your mental health. I am trained in a variety of therapeutic styles including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), psychodynamic therapy, supportive therapy, and Gottman style couples/relationship therapy. During my time at CHA I worked extensively with the Gender and Sexuality Clinic to serve patients of diverse sexual and gender identities. I also co-lead a group therapy for individuals in polyamorous and non-monogamous relationships. I have taught at the American Psychiatric Association’s specialized rotation for HIV Psychiatry, including lectures on how to provide effective telepsychiatry, and I have presented at a national meeting on teaching providers how to better work with patients to prescribe medications. I am a licensed physician in Massachusetts, New York, and California. I offer in person appointments in Somerville, MA as well as secure telehealth appointments to those residing in Massachusetts, New York, and California. In addition to medication management I offer individual and relationship/couples therapy.

Have you or family members been faced with obstacles that have caused you to lose hope and courage? You may be feeling uninspired and do not believe you have the capability to be optimistic and patient. Perhaps there are internal battles to get through the day without breaking down. When working with a therapist that is "the right fit" in an environment that is "safe and supportive" I believe you can develop the physical and emotional strength to work through your struggles. In an interactive/ collaborative way we will work to make positive changes to improve your life and relationships. My specialities and practice focus include, but are not limited to, eating disorders/ body image issues, self-esteem struggles, infertility issues, postpartum/general depression and anxiety, mothering/parenting struggles, and relationship/family issues. I also provide supervision for students and other professionals earning higher licensing credentials. I favor an empathic and supportive approach which integrates psychodynamic and psychoanalytic techniques to help clients reduce symptoms and explore/understand the underlying issues of their current life struggles. Short or long-term therapy via an office setting, phone sessions, video chat sessions and/or at-home counseling is available.

The beauty of therapy is its ability to provide a safe space, unbiased, listening ears, and dedicated time to focus on you. I believe the therapeutic relationship is central. It creates the foundation necessary to promote mental and emotional growth and well-being. Therefore, each session we will work to build an alliance, which will become instrumental for making progress and attaining your identified goals. Using an integrative approach will allow me to tailor our time together to best meet your needs. I will highlight your strengths and provide you with the tools necessary to strengthen the areas you wish to improve. In addition to others, I have a special interest in working with those invested in holistic health, more specifically a mind/body connection. I am here to support, guide, and encourage you throughout this journey, as you take control. Reaching out takes courage; it is the first step in the direction of growth and positive changes. I look forward to creating a space where listening is focal, empathy is provided, improvements are acknowledged, goals are accomplished, and individuality is celebrated. Come as you are!

Do you struggle with often thinking about the worst case scenario? Does it affect your ability to sleep, function at work, and enjoy certain activities? Do you feel overwhelmed by things that you constantly have to do, resulting in feeling stuck and unable to take any action? Do you wonder if you’ll ever be able to live a life that is free of anxiety? People are feeling anxious on a regular basis now more than ever. However, life does not have to stay like this. Therapy can help you conquer tasks by learning coping skills to manage these day-to-day stressors. In my practice, I use a combination of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness techniques to help you manage these daily stressors. You will learn realistic coping skills to then conquer that feeling of being stuck. I also emphasize the importance of the mind/body connection.

I strive to create an atmosphere of trust, respect, and compassion that allows people to become more self-aware, to find healing, and to living a more fulfilling life. I'm very familiar with the needs and issues of undergraduate, graduate, and medical students because I worked for two years at the University Counseling Center and have had many students in my practice. I offer individual and relationship counseling and integrate a variety of therapeutic approaches and techniques based on the particular needs of each client or couple. I provide support and direction, but also find it essential to work collaboratively with my clients. And, I not only help address the specific problems clients bring to therapy, but also strive to assist them in identifying and fostering their specific strengths and abilities. I have a teletherapy only practice. I’ve worked with a large number of students via this format and it has proved very successful. Many people like it because it's so convenient, especially when they’re juggling a busy schedule or don't have transportation. I’m always glad to have an initial conversation to answer any questions you might have about teletherapy or my practice. A note about insurance and payment: Some insurances other than those listed under the finance section may be covered. Actual costs for therapy are based on your insurance's copay amounts. Most clients with insurance only pay between $10-$40 per session. If I'm not able to accept your insurance, session costs will be based on your income if you are emancipated from your parents or a graduate student. If you are still a dependent in your parent's household then your fee would be based on your parent's combined income.
