College and early adulthood come with a lot of messy, in-between moments — anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, identity questions, and transitions nobody fully prepares you for. I'm David, and this is exactly the stuff I work with. My background is a little different: I hold degrees in both Neuroscience and Social Work, which means I bring both brain-based science and genuine human warmth to every session. I use IFS, mindfulness, and somatic work to help you understand your patterns — and I'm equally comfortable with harm reduction or a focus on full abstinence, depending on what's right for you. Expect some humor and creativity along the way too. No judgment, no scripts. Just a real conversation. Reach out whenever you're ready. *Insurance & Fees* I am in-network with Aetna, Cigna, and Northwell Direct in NY only, and out of network with all other major insurance companies in NY and FL. My office provides a superbill for you to submit for reimbursement and we will assist you in verifying your benefits to ensure the process is seamless. I also offer a sliding scale rate for those in need. Please reach out to learn more about how we can make therapy work for you.

I offer sessions that are client focused and curious. In our sessions, we co-create a space with compassion, creativity and humor to foster an environment where you can feel both safe and challenged to grow. I practice with a psychodynamic relational approach that is trauma-informed and socially aware of power and privilege, critical of psychological paradigms that pathologize suffering. I specialize in working with queer and trans clients with a particular focus on trauma, dissociation, and grief. I ground my work in an anti-oppressive and queer-affirming approach that acknowledges the many experiences we bring on both an individual and societal level.

I help people overcome their personal psychological barriers so they can live a more meaningful, authentic life. I provide compassionate, holistic care to all of my clients, supporting them through challenges in relationships, major life transitions, grief and loss, acculturation difficulties, and uncertainty about their path forward in life. I have particular expertise in helping young adults, including college students and those who recently graduated. I worked for several years in college counseling centers and have built on this specialization in private practice, developing a deep understanding of the challenges and uncertainties inherent in this phase of life and how to guide patients through them. I also have considerable experience with those struggling with traumatic or abusive relationships—whether during childhood or as an adult—as well as other forms of trauma. I’m also extremely effective with clients who—short of trauma per se— had or are currently experiencing difficult relationships with parents or other family members. In addition, I have substantial background in helping people who identify as LGBTQ+. That includes people who are just beginning to think about themselves outside of a hetero-normative framework as well as people who started that process earlier in life. Though I have specific expertise in these areas, I welcome all patients. I earned my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Fordham University, and have a breadth of experience in many settings ranging from college counseling centers to inpatient hospital units. This equips me to help patients from diverse backgrounds, life experiences and identities who may struggle with a wide range of emotional concerns. I currently work at The Flatiron Center for Psychotherapy, where I tailor my person-centered, humanistic, trauma-informed approach to craft the most effective treatment for each client.

She draws from psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral approaches, helping clients both explore deeper patterns and develop practical tools to navigate everyday challenges. Katie has experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults, and is especially interested in supporting individuals dealing with anxiety, self-doubt, relationship challenges, and life transitions. You're welcome to contact me here to schedule a free 15-minute consultation call. I’ll reply within 24 hours. You can also book time directly through the link on my own website. There are times when we ask ourselves questions we feel we have no answers to: "Why am I not happy?", "How do I improve my life?" and "Will I ever find a solution to this problem that is consistent and stressful?". Have hope! The answers are there inside of you, waiting to be discovered. I strive to support my clients without judgement, challenging those who are ready to explore themes of personal responsibility, meaning, and resolution. Through genuine client/therapist interactions, the emotional impact of trauma, loss, depression, and/or anxiety can be relieved, and answers found. I have a wide range of experience in helping those who may be suffering from anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions. Working with older adolescents to older adults, I find that combining a person-centered therapy model with CBT, Gestalt, and Mindfulness interventions can be especially helpful. It is my belief that therapy should be an experience of thoughtfulness, reflection and discovery. In-the-moment therapeutic experiments, music therapy, and artistic mindfulness are all tools that can be used to stir the creative process towards finding the answers one is looking for, and the journey thereafter.
My goal is to support clients in becoming the best version of themselves. I see therapy as a tool to support and motivate clients in taking control of their lives. I believe that therapy is truly for everyone- you do not need to have a major problem to start therapy. Therapy can be a place where we discuss the good things happening in your life! However, starting therapy is a vulnerable process. I am here to support your experiences and to provide you with the tools to better cope with situations. I focus on exploring clients' inner voices and beliefs that dictate how we interpret situations. I work with young adults and adults. I work mainly with issues around self worth, communication, anxiety, and life transitions. I have a background in education and empathize with young adults and adults striving for perfectionism. I also feel passionately about helping young adults feel empowered and find happiness and success in their careers and the corporate world. As a Jewish therapist, I bring a strong appreciation for how culture, identity, and personal values shape the way we move through the world. I aim to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can show up fully as yourself—whether you’re navigating school stress, relationships, family dynamics, or figuring out who you want to be in this next chapter of your life.
