Have you been longing for a more fulfilling, meaningful life? If you are feeling paralyzed or trapped by worry or sadness, you may benefit from an in-depth psychotherapy approach that allows you to break old patterns and grow into a deeper understanding of yourself. I offer online (video-based) therapy to treat trauma, grief/loss, anxiety, and depression. I use CBT and Mindfulness based techniques in my work, but the foundation of my therapeutic approach is from an Existential Therapy perspective, which allows us to slow down and look closely at your current experience so that together we can shape the future you want to have. I feel honored to be a part of helping people grow, fulfill their potential, and thrive in areas that correspond to their values. I have lived in several countries and speak English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Both as a therapist and professor, I have served individuals of many cultures as well as marginalized populations which informs my practice & worldview. If you are invested in personal growth toward a life of purpose, I invite you to contact me or visit my website to learn more about how you can find healing & meaning in your life. The human experience presents unique challenges, opportunities, victories, and struggles for us all; we experience life and our feelings on various spectrums in shared systems: Sometimes the universal feelings of sadness become clinical depression. Sometimes the universal feeling of nervousness can become clinical anxiety. We describe difficulties in processing life events in terms of trauma. We look at compounding impact of transitions as stress. Therapy presents a unique opportunity to join with a trained helper in a safe environment for growth, healing, and change: both in feeling differently and exploring life changes. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who relies upon the experiential approaches of Gestalt Therapy and story-shaping techniques of narrative therapy. I regularly incorporate the techniques from evidenced-based interventions in cognitive-behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy in treatment planning and assessment. I encourage you to give therapy a chance - say 3 sessions and consider how you feel about continuing. Let's explore your goals and consider a plan for growth, healing, and change. I will work collaboratively with you in treatment planning, providing regular clinical assessments to gauge your progress, and give you practical homework to make change happen.

I work with individuals, couples and adult families who experience trauma, anxiety, depression, identity or life transitions, and relationship struggle. Many of the people I work with are queer, neurodivergent, non-monogamous, disabled or chronically ill. I take a liberatory, community oriented approach to therapy and will work with you to co-create a container that supports your innate capacity for healing, growth and connection. I draw from narrative therapy and humanism in my therapeutic approach. This means that I'll invite you to expand, deconstruct and reimagine the stories that you hold about yourself and the world around you while offering empathy, reflection and guidance that that celebrates your humanity and your innate capacity for growth, healing and connection. I’m genderqueer, non-monogamous, live with chronic illness, and love being outdoors and growing food. I’m sex positive, disability affirming, neurodiversity affirming, and my approach to therapy is informed by lineages of abolitionism, disability justice and queer feminism. If you think we could be a good fit, I'd love to hear from you!
My goal will ultimately be to help you change your patterns, address relationship issues and/or anxieties, and find your inner wisdom. Through a combination of traditional talk therapy and ancient healing practices, we will journey towards a deeper understanding of yourself and your inner world. I utilize a holistic framework with clients; incorporating the unique experiences of mind, body and spirit. Diversity and authenticity are essential to becoming who we truly are, thus I aim to hold safe and inclusive spaces during our journey together. I welcome you here with an open mind & heart.

Hi, I'm Grace. I work with young adults who are recovering from traumatic experiences or are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety and fear. Many of my clients are highly sensitive and seeking relief from fears or worries that interfere with their life, are navigating the effects of a recent traumatic event, or grew up being told they are “too shy” or “too sensitive.” I believe you aren’t “too” anything. I value working with college students because I first sought my own therapy at the student counseling center of my university during a time I felt extremely overwhelmed and couldn’t understand why it was so hard for me to relax. It was transformative to process my experiences with a professional who could put language to what I was thinking and feeling, and offer tools to help me move forward. This was one of the major reasons I decided to pursue my own career as a therapist. Seeking therapy can feel vulnerable and it often takes time to build trust. Whatever your story is, my goal is to create a safe and compassionate space to facilitate healing, reflection, and growth.
***Currently serving individuals in California and Oregon*** Hello! My name is Carlota, and I am a social justice advocate; a believer in science; a fierce and overly-obsessed dog mom to two wacky pups; an immigrant; and steadfast in my conviction that we have a fundamental obligation to help one another if we have the means and capacity to do so. I am a licensed clinical social worker, and have been in practice since 2013. I completed my undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley in 2008, and received my Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2013 from the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. I embrace evidence-based and research-supported therapies, while also honoring the power of the therapeutic relationship and process. I specialize in trauma and PTSD, depression, Bipolar Disorder, anxiety and panic, grief and loss, interpersonal difficulties, and life transitions. I am a trained teacher of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and am certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD and Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Depression (IPT-D). I also have extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy (IPSRT) for Bipolar Disorder, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for the treatment of PTSD in children and teens. Why might I be a good fit for you? Because I get it, and I am whole-heartedly with you on this journey. I know that coming to therapy is a profound undertaking, and that what I will ask of you in this process is not easy. Introspection, change, and confronting avoidance are hard, and so I strive to provide a safe, authentic, and collaborative environment that honors your story, experience, and identity with compassion and without judgment; I strive to be worthy of bearing witness to your story. ***Sirviendo a personas ubicadas en California y Oregón*** ¡Hola! Being in college right now is tough. Personal struggles, family issues, and the pressure to keep it all together, plus the chaos of everything going on in the world, it makes sense that you're feeling overwhelmed. If you’re dealing with difficult past experiences, family stress, or just the daily pressure of trying to stay afloat, you don’t have to go through it alone. I specialize in helping people process tough emotions, navigate life transitions, and manage stress in healthy ways. I’ve worked with folks navigating trauma, family dynamics, and anxiety—and I use tools like EMDR and IFS to help you work through what’s weighing you down. Therapy is about giving you the space to deal with what’s hard and find practical ways forward, so you can feel more in control and less stuck. I’m passionate about working with women, gender-expansive individuals, and LGBTQ+ folks. No judgment. Just real, down-to-earth support to help you move forward.
William Temple House works with 26 or more volunteer, staff, and intern therapists to provide affordable counseling to the people of Portland. We offer sessions for low or no cost - our hope is that finances are not ever a barrier to people receiving counseling. We are committed to providing supportive and impactful counseling services that are based on the client's preference and need. Our services are all person-centered, strengths-focused, and trauma-informed. Because we work with so many therapists the information about our providers, modalities and approaches, and specialties changes regularly - if you are looking to work with someone of a particular identity or specialty that you do not see listed now, check back in the future. All of our counselors are trained and supported to work with people of identities different from their own with intentionality, sensitivity, and thoughtfulness and they all undergo continuous supervision to ensure they are meeting the needs of the individuals they work with.
