Therapists for college students near 19122
Students come to me for various reasons. Sometimes it is to understand why they are feeling the way they are feeling, to understand unwanted symptoms, or behaviors, to understand why their motivation has shifted, or to learn strategies to manage symptoms. I specialize in trauma and health
I mostly work with people in their 20s and 30s who experience depression and anxiety or need help navigating substance use, self-esteem, body image, identity development, sexuality, and interpersonal relationships. Life is full of highs and lows, and it is through these experiences and emotions that we grow. I would love the opportunity to help you work through the lows and discover a stronger and healed version of yourself. I have experience working in the collegiate counseling setting, helping students navigate anxiety, depression, adjustment, and substance use issues. I also have experience creating a safe space and working with LGBTQIA+ students with identity development, body image issues, and interpersonal relationships.
I love working with young adults who are motivated to improve their relationship with themselves and others. I specialize in relationship concerns, anxiety, stress, trauma, PTSD, sexual assault, and emotional abuse. I am a collaborative therapist that will work with you to determine the type of therapy that will best meet your needs. I offer various modalities such as EMDR, emotion-focused therapy, art therapy, cognitive, and relational approaches.
Are you overwhelmed by anxiety, stress, or relationship issues? Is it challenging to achieve balance in your life? Are you part of a blended family and looking to navigate the unique challenges it brings? Are you going through a life change, e.g. moving or a new chapter in life, and looking for support? Sometimes, being a student can feel so isolating and as if no one understands. You’re not alone, and I’m here to encourage you every step of the way. As a Black British Caribbean woman, it’s important for me to create a safe space where clients from all walks of life can thrive. I understand how daunting it can be to find a therapist, and I want to make the process smooth for you. Let’s start building a path to a more balanced, fulfilling life. Spilove Psychotherapy is a team of clinical specialists that holds specialties under the trauma umbrella. As clinical specialists, each of us hold space for clients to get under the roots of trauma to alleviate the symptom(s) they may be experiencing and find a space where they can feel authentically at home within themselves.
I invite anyone who feels the need to talk to someone who is ready and eager to listen to them. I have worked in mental, behavioral and relational health for the last ten years and am excited to incorporate more couples, duos, ethically and consensually non-monogamous clients as well as individuals. As a student marriage and family therapist with a behavioral therapy background, I have worked alongside and with a diverse group of humans. One approach to issues which I have adopted in my practice is the idea that all behavior is communication, sometimes we need some help finding out what we are trying to say. In session, it is important that each person feels heard, seen and respected equally. I approach sessions with a focused ability to provide an outside set of eyes, voice, and join in a stance of co-collaborator with clients in the healing and problem solving process. Whether we are working through a conflict, identity questions, or just checking in.
