Masters of Science in Community and Trauma Counseling. Eating Disorders, Trauma, Anxiety, and Depression. Offering in-person therapy in Society Hill, and Telehealth therapy. “Hopefulness lies in knowing that while early experiences shape the nervous system, ongoing experiences can reshape it” - Deb Dana I approach healing through a lens of restorative embodiment. My intention is to create a safe space as an empathetic witness and an honored collaborative partner in your therapeutic journey. In the therapeutic room I will bring in authenticity, laughter, presence, hope, and intentional moments of silence. I believe in an i-thou relationship and that you are the best guide for me to support you. With that, I also believe that while each of us are the experts in our own lives, we often do not know how to access or trust in our inner-knowing to make the necessary steps towards adaptive change and cultivating a fully embodied life that is worth living. My passion is to support you in finding and trusting your inner knowing, embrace your worthiness and strength, experience safety in using your body as a resource, and reinforce your internal sense of self-agency. In the therapeutic room, I prioritize trauma-informed and LGBTQIA-affirming care as well as harm reduction. I have experience in social work providing housing-first and strength-based care. In addition, I have experience providing individual, group, and family therapy in different settings such as a psychiatric inpatient hospital for adolescents, an eating disorder residential treatment center, and a Comprehensive DBT-focused outpatient practice. I primarily support clients ages 14 and up, college-aged individuals, and young adults. I am passionate about working with those navigating this world with an eating disorder, depression, anxiety, substance recovery, and differing levels of trauma and PTSD/CPTSD. Grounded in the principles of Health at Every Size®, I endorse Intuitive Eating, body neutrality, radical acceptance, and body liberation. I often draw upon these principles as well as embodiment in the treatment of eating disorders. I also practice with aspects from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Trauma Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (TF-ACT), using a mindfulness and somatic approach. I fully believe that every human has done and is doing the best they can with the tools they have or were given, whether effective or ineffective, with the information the body has interpreted and stored. The body and brain is malleable, flexible, and able to change. Let’s re-align with our inner-knowing, physical sensations, and core-values; change our interpretations and the narrative, to cultivate a new path forward that supports you as you level up with new and more effective tools. There is hope and I am so honored to join you on this next part of your journey. I facilitate a body image group called Embodiment. I accept Aetna & Cigna insurances.

Hi, I’m Kiara, I’m the therapist behind Lunar Counseling! I work with teens and adults who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, and trauma. Too many people are stuck in a cycle of distress without truly resolving anything. This leaves many feeling detached, numb, and uncertain about their future. I believe most mental health challenges can be addressed through effective therapy and by developing healthy coping skills. BUT, that can be so hard to do on your own. I have found for many individuals, having a therapist to talk through issues can be a gamechanger for their mental health. So, I use my seven years of therapy experience to guide people just like you as you work through your mental health challenges and regain control of your life. To get started, your next step is to schedule a 15-min phone consultation to see if we are a good fit. You don’t have to let things get worse or stay feeling numb and overwhelmed. I can help guide you as you overcome your challenges and get back to feeling like yourself again.

Do you feel like food, exercise, or how you look are taking up way too much space in your mind? Or like no matter what you do, it’s never “enough”? I specialize in supporting teens and young adults who are navigating eating disorders, body image struggles, and the pressure to be perfect. If you are unsure how to navigate this difficult journey or find it hard to trust your own relationship with food, now might be the time to reach out for help. We’ll focus on helping you build freedom around food and movement, while also exploring the deeper emotions and experiences that may be driving your eating disorder. I also incorporate Intuitive Eating, Health at Every Size (HAES), and All Foods Fit approaches. Whether you’re feeling stuck in recovery, overwhelmed by anxiety and perfectionism, or just ready to find a healthier relationship with yourself, I’ll meet you exactly where you are. You don’t have to go through this alone. Together, we can build a path toward healing, self-acceptance, and freedom.

It was at PSU that I decided that I wanted to help others. After graduating from the Human Development and Family Studies program, I decided to further my education by attending graduate school at Loyola University Maryland. There I obtained my Master's in Counseling Psychology and completed additional coursework so that I could eventually become a Licensed Professional Counselor. Over the last 16 years I have had the pleasure of working with children, teens, young adults and adults. I have experience working with college students and understand the unique pressures that PhD candidates face. I strive to provide an environment that clients feel safe, supported, and validated. In turn, this will lead to a positive therapeutic relationship in which self-reflection and processing can take place. My goal is for you to recognize your strengths uncover your hidden potential. I hope to help you with whatever obstacles or challenges you may be facing. Please view my website for more information on my therapeutic approach, a look at my office, and insurances I accept.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stress, depression, or a life transition that has left you feeling stuck, uncertain, or unlike yourself? Maybe you’re trying to manage the pressures of school, work, relationships, family responsibilities, or a major change in life and finding it hard to cope the way you used to. If so, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out on your own. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Board-Certified Counselor who works with individuals ages 14+. I have extensive experience helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, life transitions, adjustment issues, and the everyday stressors that can begin to feel overwhelming. I also have more than 13 years of experience counseling college students, giving me a deep understanding of the challenges faced by young adults balancing academic, personal, career, and relationship concerns. My approach is warm, supportive, and collaborative. I believe therapy works best when you feel comfortable being yourself and know that you are being truly heard without judgment. I use an integrative approach tailored to each person’s needs, helping clients better understand patterns in their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while also building practical tools for coping, healing, and change. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, low mood, self-doubt, stress, relationship concerns, or a difficult transition, therapy can be a place to help you feel more grounded, connected to yourself, and better able to manage the challenges in front of you.
In therapy, I strive to create space where clients may explore their inner landscapes and make sense of themselves in their relationships and larger social contexts. I believe that most people have parts of themselves that are affirmed and other parts that have gone underground — perhaps as a result of relational injury, lack of environmental mirroring, or trauma. I seek to develop a supportive relationship where clients can begin to see the unseen and speak the unspeakable and, with self compassion and courage, work to integrate those parts and reduce suffering and experience deeper connection and meaning. That describes, in part, the process of exploratory therapy but what is a session actually like? We talk. People share their stories— maybe the latest relationship entanglement, feeling burdened with perfectionism, dissecting a racial microaggression that happened in class, or a painful memory from elementary school. I’m curious about nuance and felt experience and I reflect and ask questions to help deepen understanding. I work through psychodynamic, intersectional, and multicultural lenses. I have worked extensively with undergraduate and graduate students in both domestic and international settings. And, I have experience working with a range of presenting concerns including anxiety, stress, complex identity, immigration, and loss. I’ve been described as kind, patient, inquisitive, and discerning. Prior to moving to Princeton in 2015, I lived in China for five years during which I worked as a therapist at Community Center Shanghai and NYU Shanghai. I am originally from Taiwan and immigrated to the US as a child. My biracial and bicultural heritage along with my immigrant and expatriate experiences have created a particular interest in working with international students, immigrants, people who identify as mixed race, and students either preparing for or returning from studying abroad. My private practice is conveniently located walking distance from Princeton University campus on 344 Nassau Street. I work extensively with graduate and undergraduate students and accept PU student health insurance (students are responsible for their $10 copay).
