Therapists for college students near University of Pittsburgh
College can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, stress, depression, relationship challenges, or adjusting to new responsibilities and life transitions, you don't have to navigate it alone. I work with female college students and young adults who want to better understand themselves, improve their relationships, and feel more confident managing life's challenges. My approach is relational, compassionate, curious, and down-to-earth. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship creates the foundation for meaningful change, and I strive to create a space where you feel genuinely heard, supported, and accepted. I also believe there's room for humor in therapy—healing doesn't have to be serious all the time. Together, we'll explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck, increase self-awareness, and develop practical skills to help you manage emotions, cope with stress, and build a life that feels more aligned with your values. My goal is to help you leave therapy with greater confidence, resilience, and tools you can continue using long after our work together.

My passion is working with clients who struggle with eating concerns and body image issues. I have experience with anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder. I can also help if you feel that your relationship with food and/or exercise is complicated but have not been diagnosed with an eating disorder. I practice from a Health at Every Size® perspective and offer an inclusive space for all. I value being empathetic while challenging my clients to step outside of their comfort zone and unlock their strengths. Taking the first step to get help and support can be intimidating but it can lead to growth and change! My approach to treating eating disorders is based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as emotional exploration. Sessions focus on emotional awareness, thought exploration, mindfulness, and reducing avoidance. I also treat co-occurring diagnoses such as anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, and depression. Whether you have been struggling for some time or are just curious about therapy, feel free to contact me. I am open to phone consultations prior to the first session. One phone call or email can be the first step to change and a growth mindset. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and I look forward to hearing from you!
College is this interesting time of transition where you are given an opportunity to explore independence away from your parents, hometown, and all that feels comfortable. But for many, this independence and freedom can be lonely, confusing and downright uncomfortable. You may feel like you are not cut out to succeed in such a high pressure environment. Decisions can seem overwhelming. Am I in the right major? What internship should I choose? Should I study abroad? Do I need to take a semester off? How do I manage my money? The pressure to perform academically can be intense and feel overwhelming. Picking a major, choosing classes, second guessing your decisions, and simply managing time and assignments can feel insurmountable. If you previously struggled with time management or organization, you may find your safety net is now far away and now your grades are suffering. I have worked with many students just like you. I work to treat a range on issues that get in the way of optimal academic performance - from depression to anxiety to ADHD. I further specialize in working with students who are also parents. Parenting young children while working towards your degree is no small feat. Pregnancy and/or postpartum during graduate school is challenging but together we can get through it. Whether it's your freshman or senior year, college is a time of change and transition. You may be thinking about giving therapy a try to manage all the stress of independence, grades, social life, athletics, relationships, and making decisions about your future. The pressure of college can be a lot. Therapy can be a place to learn healthy ways to cope with these challenges and build confidence in yourself to get through hard times. If you are someone that is creative or has felt "stuck" with traditional talk therapy, I'm happy to also offer art therapy. I'm here to support college students gain insights about who they are and who they want to be.
In working with you, my goal is to help you improve your overall sense of well-being, improve your relationships and address life's challenges with greater self-assurance and ease. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in the present. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will address what may be holding you back from experiencing life with greater joy and ease.
I support clients with anxiety, trauma reprocessing, family and relationship dynamics, and attachment/ inner child/ parts work. I enjoy helping clients "free themselves" from stuck parts or narratives, build self-confidence, heal childhood or relational wounds, and feel empowered in your own strengths instead of a "problem to fix." My approach draws on a variety of modalities including IFS, narrative therapy, strengths-based, and somatic/ body work. My style is relational, warm, and easy going. I believe healing happens within the context of authentic and supportive relationship. I aim to make our time together filled with curiosity and compassion. I welcome (and highly value!) the incorporation of any cultural or spiritual identity you deem important. I have both personal and professional experience with a variety of cultural backgrounds, and I am bilingual English/ Spanish. Please reach out to schedule a free consultation through my Psychology Today, linked at the end of this web page!
*** I am offering options for both in-person and teletherapy sessions *** I am a licensed psychologist currently in private practice. Prior to private practice, I worked in college counseling settings, a center for the treatment of substance use disorders, and at the Center for Psychotherapy Research at The University of Pennsylvania. As a result of these experiences, I work well with clients with a wide range of concerns and particularly like working with college students. I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can feel free to share whatever is concerning you and start working towards living a more fulfilling life. My approach to therapy is collaborative. We can work together to explore your needs and goals for treatment. Rather than using a one-size fits all approach, I use an integrative approach to treatment, incorporating several theoretical perspectives and techniques to meet your unique needs. My work is informed by psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) therapies. I work with individuals, who are struggling with a variety issues, including: • Anxiety • Depression • Relationship Problems • Life Transitions • Social Anxiety • Adjustment Difficulties • Substance Abuse • Trauma • ADHD • Chronic Pain • OCD • Low Self-esteem • Loneliness • Anger Issues • Infertility • Divorce • Life Coaching • Sports Performance Whatever is troubling you, I am available to discuss treatment options and can work with you to clarify and address your concerns. If I do not feel that my services would be helpful, I can offer referral information for another professional who might better meet your needs.
