My path to counseling started during nearly a decade working in schools, where I saw how many young people were struggling without enough mental health support. That experience also taught me something I still bring into therapy every day: how to connect with people, earn their trust, and meet them where they are. I'm an LPCC and licensed school counselor with a master's degree in counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. I also hold certifications in anxiety and stress management, trauma, grief, and loss. Outside the office, I'm a dad to two girls and usually happiest spending time outside with my family and friends or getting overly invested in a board game.

As a licensed psychologist, I offer individualized cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to adolescents and adults (ages 16+). I completed my PhD at the University of Washington in Seattle in 2010 and have been in private practice since 2012. My professional experience includes comprehensive psycho-educational and neurodevelopmental evaluations, school consultations, and individual therapy provided across educational, clinical, university, and research settings. I specialize in helping individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, perfectionism, self-esteem, adjustment concerns, stress management, executive functioning, and learning differences. I have 30 years of working with adolescents and young adults. My approach to therapy is founded in the value of the therapeutic relationship. It is very important my clients feel heard and validated with a sense of security as they explore their experiences of both suffering and success. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidenced based psychotherapy treatment to help improve communication with others, reduce fears and phobias, interrupt thoughts that lead to addictive or other self-destructive behaviors, improve self esteem and change negative thought patterns. I have extensive experience working with diverse populations in psychiatric hospitals, treatment programs, the criminal justice system, young adult transitional programs, family systems and private practice.
My grounded presence, genuine care, and insightfulness help you feel heard and held in your journey of healing and growth. With my support, you will learn how to relate to familiar struggles in new ways and make changes to move toward a more satisfying and meaningful life. My skillful and compassionate approach allows you to feel challenged and cared for.

My practice begins with a kind, compassionate and safe introduction to the therapy process. We will explore what you want in your life and how to get there. Together we will follow your questions, concerns and goals, so you can discover new options. These are some of the questions we can explore. How can I make decisions that lead to a clear purpose? Why do I feel depressed? What is all this anxiety about? What can I do to feel better now? Drawing on eastern and western psychology, we will work together to develop the tools and inner resources to achieve your life goals including learning self compassion, and developing awareness of your thoughts, feelings and behaviors - through traditional talk therapy, mindfulness, creating art, and journaling. Please see my psychology today profile for more information and a complete list of insurance I accept.
I believe in a body centered, mindful approach that combines evidenced based nutrition practices, resulting in an integrative and holistic approach to better nutrition, improved energy, increased mental clarity and optimal health. I enjoy helping clients develop strategies to meet their nutrition and health goals by finding foods that fit for each individual person. I do this, most importantly, by listening to their stories and experiences, honoring their unique bodies and coming up with nutrition protocols that address issues related to different disease states, food choices, supplementation and lifestyle interventions. I work often with the following conditions: eating disorders, gut health, chronic conditions, weight issues, nutrient deficiencies, food sensitivities/allergies, cardiovascular conditions, mental health and nutrition, immune related conditions and overall nutrition challanges.
I was raised in a commune-style farm setting in rural Pennsylvania, and earned my BA from Middlebury College and then my MA in counseling psychology from Lesley College. I am currently pursuing her certificate in Modern Psychoanalysis at the Academy for Clinical and Applied Psychoanalysis in Livingston, NJ. I am a mother of three and a longtime practitioner of yoga, meditation, and Jin Shin Jyutsu (Japanese acupressure). These practices inform my interest in the well-being of the whole person. I provide a safe and comfortable space where you can explore the parts of your life that you value and also the parts you may want to change. My approach is to cultivate a sense of curiosity and kindness while supporting you in saying whatever is on your mind. As we put our thoughts and feelings into words, we tend to grow more comfortable in ourselves, even in the midst of discomfort. We may find ourselves in more positive relationships at home, at school, and at work. We may find more clarity about how we want to live our lives. Whether in person or online, I see the therapeutic process as a catalyst for reflection, exploration, self-understanding, and personal growth. Together, we will work to understand the richness of who you are and resolve whatever is getting in the way of achieving your personal and professional goals.

Are you looking to change behaviors but finding yourself falling back into old ways of thinking and doing? Are you stuck in an unhelpful cycle where you want to think or do something different but you just can’t seem to get unstuck? Do you want a way to work through difficult emotions? I specialize in addictive behaviors, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. I help people identify patterns that no longer serve them, gain insight into where these patterns began, and support them in breaking these mental, emotional, and behavioral habits so that they can live more freely in their lives.
Many people seek therapy when they are feeling overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or struggling to move forward after difficult life experiences. I strive to create a supportive, compassionate space where clients feel comfortable exploring their emotions, building insight, and developing greater confidence in themselves and their relationships. I particularly enjoy working with individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, grief and loss, and major life transitions. My approach to therapy is strengths-based, collaborative, and tailored to each client’s individual needs. I use evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, and solution-focused techniques to help clients better understand patterns in their lives while building practical tools for change and emotional resilience. I have experience working in crisis intervention, addiction recovery, and supporting college students, and I believe therapy can help people reconnect with their own strengths, sense of purpose, and ability to move forward with greater self-awareness and confidence. I hold a Bachelor of Social Work from North Carolina State University and am completing my Master of Social Work at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with the goal of becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Outside of the office, I enjoy birdwatching, exploring Colorado with my dog and friends, knitting, and finding humor in everyday life. Questions or Need Assistance Booking An Appointment? I believe in the power of real human connection. Everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and valued exactly as they are. My style is warm, client-centered, and grounded in curiosity. Alongside open dialogue, I use evidence-based approaches like ACT and DBT to help you manage anxiety, build stronger coping tools, and navigate life’s curveballs. I work with adults (18+) facing big transitions: starting college, figuring out who you are, exploring relationships and sexuality (including LGBTQ+ identities), or feeling stuck between worlds. As a bisexual therapist and someone who’s moved across cultures, I get what it’s like to question where you belong or how to move forward. I also support clients dealing with health challenges, athletic injuries, sexual health, chronic illness, eating disorders, and body image concerns. Outside of therapy, you’ll find me adventuring in the mountains. I see therapy a lot like a tough hike: challenging, sometimes uncomfortable, but deeply rewarding. I’m honored to walk alongside you as you find your own path.
I have over 10 years of experience working with hundreds of college-age clients from all walks of life. With my background as both a special education teacher and college and career counselor, I enjoy helping clients explore their identity, increase self-confidence and autonomy, and overcome fears (or whatever else is blocking them from living well). As a therapist, most of the clients I see experience OCD, anxiety, and neurodivergence. I tailor treatment to my clients’ individual needs and create a warm, supportive environment in sessions where they can truly be themselves without judgment.
