If you are LGBTQ+, polyamorous, kinky, or exploring your identity, it can be exhausting to live in a world that barely tolerates, much less affirms, every part of you. If you feel like you are drowning under the pressure of today’s demands, how are you supposed to find the energy to work on your goals, learn who you are, or take time to enjoy life? You may currently feel alone, unloved, or like you don’t deserve happiness. You might find yourself numb and in emotional pain, wishing people could see and understand your real self. You’re ready to get help, and you want a therapist that specializes in clients like you. I am a gay, transgender clinician dedicated to providing individual therapy to Georgia’s gender, sexuality, and relationship structure minority communities. I am passionate about my community and filling the gap in mental health care many of us experience. My services are also sex-positive, weight-inclusive, neurodiverse-friendly, and culturally-affirming. I offer both in-person and online sessions for your convenience and accessibility. Clients that work with me appreciate positive, gentle masculinity paired with the occasional dad joke. Check out my website for more information about me, or email me to schedule a free 15 minute consultation.

As a licensed clinical psychologist, Gershom Lazarus draws from a background in physiology, neuropsychology, and clinical psychology to provide an integrated approach to assessment and treatment. He currently practices as a partner of IPD, an institute established over 40 years with offices in Georgia and Florida. Dr. Lazarus initially came to the United States as an international student and can relate to some of the seemingly unrelenting challenges facing students currently. The primary approach to providing care is rooted in developing an understanding of contributing factors at the physiological, neurological/neuropsychological, and psychological levels within the context of an individual’s behavioral and societal functioning. Each session aims to focus on understanding and psycho-education regarding the presenting issues, exercises for between sessions designed to practice strategies developed in-session, and ultimately “real-world” applications targeting areas of concern. While the initial focus tends to be managing the main areas of concern, the importance of growth and meaning are gradually introduced.

"When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change," Max Planck. If you're looking for a therapist, you're looking for a change. As a counselor, my role is to help you see what may be hidden from your current perspective—recognizing patterns in your thinking, addressing the pain from past experiences, and identifying opportunities for strength, resilience, and change. I work with children, youth adults and couples. Before pursuing my degree in counseling I worked as a career and college advisor. I am passionate about helping young adults process their identity and emotions during life transitions and as they come into who they are. Clients leaving high school, graduating college, entering marriage or their first jobs often find that they are reevaluating what their values are and how their early childhood experiences have affected them. I enjoy working with clients as they walk through these parts of their story and come to understand themselves better.
