Your life is stressful enough as it is and wading through a list of therapists can be hard. We offer both Psychotherapy and Medication Management.
It’s getting harder everyday to keep up with life’s responsibilities. You’re exhausted all the time and can’t stop thinking about future meals or the parts of your body that you hate. You want to get help but you don’t know where to turn, and nobody seems to be talking about how prevalent these issues are in men. You’re not alone. Recent studies have shown that 25% of those diagnosed with an eating disorder are men, and that gay and bisexual men are at an even higher risk. Whether you spend hours everyday thinking about your body, limit yourself to a very strict diet, or find yourself purging after meals…I see you. I know it feels like you’re drowning and can’t find anything to hold on to. But I want you to know that recovery is possible for you. The journey to get there may be long with a lot of ups and downs, but you’re not someone who backs away from a fight. You have things worth living for - and you deserve to experience them with a sense of joy and freedom. I work best with clients who are ready to make changes in their life and believe therapy can be helpful. Ideal clients are looking to establish a long-term therapeutic relationship, have an idea of what to talk about in therapy, and come prepared to sessions and ready to work hard towards bettering themselves.

Accepting new patients.....It is through therapy that we come to understand how our experiences make our lives meaningful. Choosing a therapist isn't an easy task; I hope sharing my perspective helps. Over the last decade I have worked at universities, elementary schools, rehabilitation centers and group homes with children and adults from 7-70. These experiences have shown me that the right environment activates our innate capacity to mature and thrive. Therapy is not about "fixing" someone, it's about creating a space that supports growth. My approach embraces the power of personality to facilitate change. Through active listening, I acknowledge the impact of personal experiences and encourage exploration. Like exercising - regular, creative dialogue yields new strengths and abilities. In this way, individuals find their own solutions that are often more personalized than CBT. As you search for a therapist, consider me - I think you'll find me accessible, pragmatic, and insightful.
Together we process experiences of loss, trauma, and relationship difficulties. My clients come seeking the opportunity to learn more about themselves. Therapy provides a space for connection to self & to discover your full potential. We explore what is important in your life. I bring a sense of warmth, humor and an anti-oppression framework in providing trauma-informed therapy. I believe trauma, historical contexts, oppression, bias, and privilege are in the mix with us in our life journey. I am passionate about helping people achieve their goals & a fuller, richer & more meaningful life. To learn more, visit jocelyneve.com. I work with people who hold a wide array of complex identities and in particular with those who are LGBTQ+ identified. I am committed to the field of domestic violence/intimate partner violence. I am trained to help clients develop healthy relational styles and skills that lead to an increased sense of connection and security and feeling understood. Many come to therapy wondering if their experiences are "normal." While it can be reassuring to know you are not alone, it is empowering to choose your own path. I can help you understand past relationship patterns & learned strategies for self-protection & the ways in which these methods of self-protection may interfere with your relationships today.
As a psychologist, writer and consultant, my favorite population to work with are college students and graduate students, often managing mental health issues, while navigating independence, relationships and larger life choices all at once. In fact, I recently finished writing a book, "College Mental Health 101" based on hundred of interviews and thousands of students I've worked with over the years whose voices are in the pages. Whether its adjustment to school and making career decisions, to identity or family of origin concerns, to depression, anxiety and other mental health issues, I love working with students to find ways to improve their life circumstance. I have an academic interest in mindfulness, neuroscience and communication, and teach on the faculty of Harvard Medical School and globally.
We specializing in the mental health care of women, BIPoC, queer, and trans communities. You shouldn’t have to explain everything to your therapist! And at And Still We Rise we get that. Our providers are culturally diverse and bring real-life experience to the work. We value community, critical consciousness, and decolonizing mental healthcare. Simply put, we want to revolutionize the delivery of mental healthcare services to our communities.
I specialize in working with adults who have achieved significant success in some domain, but still struggle to feel confident, connected, and/ or whole. Even when you've found academic or career related success, life can still feel empty. Feeling stuck or hopeless is a symptom of the problem. I can help you feel more alive and connected to all parts of your life I have 10 years experience and advanced training in insight oriented and relational psychotherapy. I believe in a curious, compassionate, and flexible approach, where I am an active participant in the conversation. I have a psychodynamic disposition, but am also very influenced by mindfulness and use an integrative approach where I can bring in interventions from multiple modalities if desired.

Looking forward to helping you achieve mental health by maximizing your strengths. I take a holistic approach to care that incorporates therapy with thoughtful medication management. Each individual's journey is unique, as is the way in which we process our environment(internal & external). I look forward to partnering with you. Treatment is a wellness journey, with an aim to enhance motivation and achieve clear goals. I am a firm believer in a multidimensional approach to care in order to achieve sustained wellness. I use psychotherapy and medications to help people with stress-related conditions. I am interested in not only alleviating symptoms but helping my clients understand the underlying causes that bring them into treatment. If we are able to connect in a way that you feel understood and I can see the world as if in your shoes, then progress has begun. As a prescriber, I try to consider all the concerns expressed by my clients and come up with a plan that feels safe and right. I provide a detailed assessment and really try to include my clients in the decision-making process. As a therapist, I try to create a safe place for my clients to explore their thoughts and express their feelings. I am interested in seeing and understanding the world and especially relationships from my client's point of view. As a relational therapist, I try to help my client communicate more effectively and participate more deeply in relationships. I am trained in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic therapies and work relationally with clients. I am also trained in mentalization-based (MBT), transference-focused (TFP), accelerated dynamic experiential psychotherapy (AEDP), and intensive short term dynamic psychotherapy (ISTP). Patients must be in therapy to be seen by me, either with an outside therapist or internally. Any new patient requests must use "scheduling@thoughtfulpsychiatry.com" for outreach.

Emma Atwood is a licensed certified social worker whose therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that strong client-therapist relationships are the foundation for meaningful change. Her approach integrates strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic, relational-cultural, and trauma informed approaches. She has specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR) to provide therapy to treat trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Her approach strives to empower clients as active participants in their own healing journey. Emma works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment-related challenges, relationship issues, and identity exploration. She welcomes clients from all cultural backgrounds and strives to create a safe, affirming space for all aspects of identity, including gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and religion. Clients can expect a collaborative, culturally sensitive, and non-judgmental space where they feel safe to share openly. Emma strives to help clients better understand themselves, recognize their strengths, and develop tools to manage life’s challenges. Together, the client and Emma will explore how past experiences share current patterns, while building new skills for emotional regulation, healthier relationships, and self-compassion. People often ask how they can get rid of their anxiety. Emma says, “The short answer is that you don’t. Our anxiety is telling us something, and only when we learn how to sit with it long enough to listen, will we understand the function it serves and how to manage it. The best therapist for anxiety is one who will help you acquire coping strategies to reduce your anxiety (cognitive-behavioral approach) but also guide insight into the origins of your anxiety and the core beliefs maintaining it (psychodynamic approach). By exploring your anxiety at multiple levels and depths, you can learn to better recognize, understand, and manage your anxiety.” Emma offers in-person therapy in the Boston office, as well as online via a secure video platform for patients located throughout Massachusetts. She has appointments available in the daytime. You can become a patient by completing the New Client Profile form (https://leektherapy.com/form) or calling 508-296-5631.
