I believe in creating an individualized plan of care that values client involvement, interprofessional collaboration, and evidenced-based practice. My goal for my clients is to feel empowered to treat their illnesses through supportive education in a safe environment. A client can expect their initial visit to include a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, determination of treatment goals and education about diagnosis and available treatment options. I have the pleasure of working alongside many skilled and experienced clinicians and am happy to collaborate and coordinate care with them when appropriate to the clients’ needs.

It takes courage to explore different healing pathways. I am glad you are exploring options that are supportive to you. I strongly believe we all deserve healing and safe spaces. I believe we can collaborate and create this space for you. My therapeutic approach can be described by the words from R. Dass: “We are all just walking each other home” in our journey towards wholeness. I understand my role as a clinical social worker is to accompany individuals in their own inner healing and discovery of their own resiliency. I am committed to a trauma-informed and anti-oppression practice. My therapeutic practice embodies caring for the whole person (mind-body-spirit). I have a specialized interest in integrating individuals’ deepest spiritual or cultural practices and engaging in nature based healing. It is a privilege and gift to co-create healing spaces together. Since I have had ten years experience in a hospital setting, I can offer specialized treatments in traumatic stress and vicarious trauma on care providers. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Mindfulness-Based Practice. It can be challenging to find a therapist that is a good fit. Hi! My name is Jackie. I have been working in the field of counseling/psychology for the last several years. I have worked with a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and presenting concerns in many different settings (medical hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, community centers, and public schools). I am passionate about working with young adults, especially those who are navigating through college. That specific period in life can come with numerous transitions, hardships, and decisions to make. If you feel overwhelmed by all of it, therapy is a great place to start. My initial consultation is free, and I tailor to each person's unique needs. Don't hesitate to reach out, even if it's just with a couple of questions about the process!
Balance in life can only be achieved when we start taking care of both our mental and physical health. I take an integrative approach to address clients' cognitive, emotional and physical needs. Whether that is challenging your anxious/ negative thoughts, changing disruptive relationship patterns, avoiding work burnout or taking steps towards better nutrition and physical routines, we will address the whole you each session. I have worked in the therapy field for ten years and have experience treating a variety of conditions including; anxiety, depression, life- transitions and trauma responses. I often see the medical field project a false advertisement that we can all be “fixed”. This can create a cycle of shame and discouragement when we try over and over again to find quick solutions for ourselves. I strive to challenge those inner critics and push my clients towards finding their true selves; living with self compassion and confidence. Please send an email to coordinate an initial free exploratory call. I will assess if myself or another clinician at Balanced Therapy Approach is a good fit for your current needs.

While I enjoy working with individuals across the lifespan, I have a particular passion for supporting adolescents and young adults as they navigate the complexities of today. I am licensed to practice in Massachusetts and Maryland.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, I believe that the best approach to therapy is a collaborative, integrated model that meets the needs of the person sitting before me. As your therapist, I am here to learn about you – your experiences, relationships, and insights – to help you understand different themes that may be contributing to your current stressors. In order to get the most from the therapeutic experience, I strongly believe the patient has to be an active participant in the work. Together we will assess the best steps to take based on your personal strengths and abilities. My hope is that through our work you feel more confident, secure, and connected to yourself, your relationships, and your goals. To reach these goals, I incorporate various evidence-based practices to help guide our work such as CBT, DBT, interpersonal therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and motivational interviewing. These tools will allow us to explore how patterns may be impacting your life and provide opportunities to identify your strengths. This information will be the foundation for our work to grow upon knowledge and skills to help you reach your goals. If you are open to learning more and ready to engage therapy, please reach out to me today for more information.
Hello! I help my clients find balance through maximizing their emotional well-being while also improving their nutrition. My specialties include working in the areas of eating disorders, body image, anxiety and depression, and sports performance. It is essential to practice self-care in order to have the energy, drive, and focus required to accomplish our life goals. Attention to health is vital, but if taken to the extreme, can wear us down. Preoccupation with food or exercise can distract from experiencing the nuances of life, as well as prevent the formation of meaningful relationships. I work with my clients to help them enjoy their food experiences, but also to utilize it as medicine to enhance well-being, perform effectively in school and at work, and enhance athletic abilities. I use a non-diet approach, focusing on assisting clients develop intuitive eating skills and increase mindfulness towards food and their body. My goal is to help you set and reach realistic and sustainable goals. If this approach resonates with you, please reach out; I would love to connect.
My practice focuses supporting people in clarifying their values and in living lives that realize their deepest values. I believe that there are many ways to be mentally healthy, and I pursue a pluralistic view of mental health, one which varies from person to person. I aim to be a patient and supportive companion for you to determine what is important to you and to make meaningful change. I have worked as a professor at a number of universities in the US and abroad, and I have also worked as a social worker for young adults with mental illness. My academic and psychiatric experience makes me an ideal fit for working with students (undergraduate or graduate) who are facing life transitions or mental health challenges. Therapy is an exciting journey and it is always a pleasure to meet new or potential clients. I look forward to hearing from you.
You’re ready to heal from the past and from the years worth of stress you’ve carried on your shoulders. You want to fully step into the “new you”, to be present, and enjoy your life and the people in it. Instead, you spend your days overwhelmed, stressed, and unsure of what your next steps should be. Your mind races at night, with all the things that could go wrong. Therapy can help you take steps forward. It can help you learn about yourself, heal trauma, get unstuck, and break cycles. If you’re ready, I am committed to partnering with you, with empathy, compassion, and humility, to learn more about yourself, gain tools to heal, and (re)discover the “you” that has been hiding and is ready to thrive.
