Therapists for college students near New York, NY
It is normal facing change to experience confusion, anger, anxiety, depression, or self-doubt. From loss to relationship issues, I am passionate about helping young adults navigate complex life transitions. College is a transition for everyone, and you’re not alone if you’re struggling to find yourself during this period. In our work together, I will help you uncover inner strength, clarity, and purpose to find a path forward. I work with a range of issues, specializing in grief, illness, women’s health, cancer, and relationships & attachment. It is my honor to guide people through exploring inner narratives, addressing childhood wounds, transforming limiting beliefs, and strengthening relationships. Therapy with me is relational, collaborative, and relatable. My approach also touches on the mind-body connection, and I have training in ecotherapy. I enjoy helping people find and embrace the intersections of nature, the outdoors, and movement with mental health. Guided by radical acceptance and compassion, I believe therapy is a shared journey of self-discovery. If you are seeking healthier ways to navigate whatever life is throwing at you, you do not have to do this work alone. Please reach out for a free consultation.

Anna Lucille Calabrese is a Licensed Master Social Worker with a keen interest in the human drive to create meaning from the raw material of our lives. Dually trained in clinical social work and theology, Anna’s practice is grounded in mind, body, spirit integration. She draws her approach from many sources including Depth Psychology, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Internal Family Systems. Anna provides individual, couples and group therapy. At their core, Anna views all these modalities as relational experiences— providing form and structure that allow clients to deepen the sacred relationship to self and others. Some of her areas of focus include complex trauma, somatic experiencing, emotional regulation, addiction in its many forms, divorce and life transitions, coparenting, the LGBTQIA community, eating disorders and chronic illness. Through all of these areas, and following her client’s lead, Anna brings a creative lens to therapeutic work—often intertwining art, writing, movement, nature, film and music into the healing process. She is also interested in helping clients create ceremony and ritual around the liminal spaces in their lives— be it professional transition, the start and end of relationships, birth and death, or recovery from addiction. Anna holds a BA in Creative Writing from the New School, a Masters of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary and a Masters of Social Work from Columbia University. She has worked as a Chaplin in a hospital, a counselor on Rikers Island and with Buddhist monks on end of life care. Through all these experiences, Anna draws on a simple truth: people desire to make meaning of their lives—no matter the circumstance.
With over 8 years of experience in mental health and as an Asian, Queer Native New Yorker, I deeply resonate with you if a part of you is a high-achiever, perfectionist, or people-pleaser, yet you also find yourself prioritizing others over yourself. You appear to be put together, but deep down, you're stuck in processing intergenerational trauma. You feel overwhelmed to tap into this discomfort. But you’re ready to be with it, to bring a change that allows you to slow down, to feel, and to build your inner resources for generative connection. Most of all, you’re ready to embody the wisdom of your lineages and roots. I want to help you get there. As an EMDR trained therapist, I specialize in working with people of diverse backgrounds — high achievers, adoptees, helping/healthcare/finance/tech professionals, young adults, athletes, creatives, QTBIPOC, & immigrants — who have trauma, relationship issues, anxiety, or ADHD. Together, we will find your authentic voice through experiential, integrative, anti-oppressive practices, EFT, Gestalt, parts work, and somatic approaches. I’ll meet you where you are on your unique journey and offer you the support you need to live and thrive abundantly. A life where you are empowered by your body's wisdom is possible. You don’t have to continue feeling disconnected, and you don’t have to do it alone. Call or email me today for a free video consult call. I look forward to hearing from you.

College can be an incredible time of growth—but it can also be overwhelming. Between managing academics, friendships, identity shifts, and planning for your future, it’s normal to feel stretched thin, anxious, or unsure of yourself. Therapy can be a steady place to land—a space where you can process what’s coming up, sort through decisions, and feel more like yourself again. I work with college students just like you to help build confidence, increase self-awareness, and support your mental, emotional, and relational health in meaningful, real-life ways. Our work is collaborative, judgment-free, and always tailored to who you are and what you need most. If your parent or caregiver is supporting you financially through therapy, that's something we can absolutely talk about—together, we’ll make sure this feels like a valuable, empowering experience for you, and a meaningful investment in your wellbeing. Your life is happening now. Let’s help you feel more stable, supported, and ready to thrive in it. I believe therapy is a space to reconnect with yourself, with the parts that have been silenced, criticized, or forgotten. I see my role as someone who listens with deep care and genuine curiosity, while also supporting you as you explore how your experiences and emotions shape your journey through life. Together, we will create a space where all parts of you are welcome and where healing and meaningful change can begin to take root. I welcome all clients and especially value working with those from LGBTQ+, BIPOC, immigrant, and international student communities. My approach mainly draws from CBT and person-centered frameworks while always centering cultural humility and curiosity. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. I will meet you where you are, and together we will find what works for you, whether that is building practical tools, unpacking old patterns, or simply having a space to be heard. Feel free to reach out any questions you might have!
Often, we can get stuck in our daily grind of rise, rinse, repeat, daydreaming about what could be different, and yet feel paralyzed by uncertainty. “Feel the fear and do it anyway” might fall flat because how does one get to the point where they can identify what they are feeling is fear and trust in themselves and others to hold space for them along that journey? In my therapeutic practice, I offer a compassionate, culturally sensitive, and judgment-free space informed by humor, creativity, and collaboration. My goal is to support those who may be experiencing concerns including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and burnout. With a special focus on trauma-informed care and disordered eating, I provide a secure and comfortable environment where clients can explore and heal from past and present challenges. By blending person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and psychodynamic techniques, we will craft a personalized strategy to address what is holding you back from reaching your authentic self.

I believe that we all possess the power to make lasting changes in our lives. We just need the right support. I take a holistic attitude to understanding the challenges my clients face, including paying attention to the importance of culture and environment. I believe that change occurs when we acknowledge intersectionality, the complexity of identity, and the important roles that social systems like family, religion, culture, class, gender, and race play in people’s lives, not when we ignore the broader picture and focus only on the individual. My goal is to walk with you on your journey and provide compassionate and collaborative guidance that fits exactly who you are while helping you move towards how you want to be in the world. I work with people dealing with a whole variety of mental health and mental wellness concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, spirituality, career and personal development, grief and loss, and life transitions. I have a special love for providing counseling to international students, immigrants, and refugees. Want to get started? Email me.
