Therapists for college students near New York, NY
As a therapist, I work with people who are processing all types of grief, including the loss of loved ones to both death and estrangement, as well as those going through transitions, feeling misunderstood or disconnected in their interpersonal relationships, experiencing anxiety and/or depression, or seeking to more deeply explore their identities. My approach is warm and collaborative. I believe that you hold more answers than you think you do. Together, we can quiet the noise, go deep, and truly listen to the wise voice within you. I am honored to walk alongside you on your journey inward and offer you tools to carry with you on your way forward. If you feel we might align, please reach out.
I take my work very seriously, which means that I strive to take myself very much not-seriously. Some sessions, you may need to cry. Some sessions you may need to laugh. This is a space for healing and growth. The most necessary ingredients for both of these things are warmth and play. My sessions can best be described as an abundance of warmth and play. I hold a Master of Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) from University of Pennsylvania, which I obtained with a focus on positive sexuality and living your best sexual self. I hold a Master of Arts (MA) in Psychological Counseling and a Master of Education (EdM) in Mental Health Counseling from Columbia University, which I earned with a heavy emphasis on applying a social justice and multicultural lens to therapy. While at Columbia, I also received an Advanced Certificate in Sexuality, Women, and Gender with my focus on LGBTQQIA and open/polyamorous clients in therapy.

We will focus on what you want out of treatment and help you achieve your goals. In addition to general psychiatric care, I offer specialized care in reproductive psychiatry, trauma, and sex therapy. Starting therapy can feel hard and overwhelming. As a licensed social worker, I create a warm, engaging, and comforting environment where we will work together to reduce your stress and help you cope with life's challenges. Within our work together, I will draw on my experience with cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, relational therapy, and trauma informed care to tailor the treatment to your needs. I specialize in working with individuals experiencing a range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, transitions, and relationship issues. I am especially passionate about treating college students and young adults who are often facing many difficult transitions. While transitions can be very stressful, I have found that they can also be an opportunity for change and the beginnings of a new identity. I am an inclusive therapist who works to create a space that is accepting and nonjudgmental. My belief is that we all have the strength to overcome and grow through life’s challenges. I am passionate about de-stigmatizing mental health and building strong relationships with clients in order to meet their goals and develop lifelong skills. I view therapy as a partnership and look forward to working alongside you.
My clients typically seek out my help when they are struggling with one or more of the following symptoms: depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, social anxiety, relationship issues, life/goal uncertainties, unwanted compulsions and/or desires, negative and pessimistic thinking, procrastination, internet overuse, among others. My clients are often trauma survivors or adult children of parents who were emotionally and/or verbally abusive to them. My clients are often easily triggered by relationships, authority, responsibility, deadlines, confrontation, interpersonal conflict, decisions, major life transitions such as getting married, having a baby, breaking off a relationship, or starting and/or changing careers. My clients are typically helped by me in therapy through proven techniques that enable them to gain insight into themselves, to develop clarity into some of the reasons why they are feeling these ways, to learn more effective coping skills and strategies, and to experience authentic emotional healing and co-regulation through the warm, supportive, compassionate, validating, and empathetic intervention of a trusted "other." My clients experience healing and growth in treatment with me because of the trusting environment which is developed. They experience being truly seen and known which promotes more positive and optimistic feelings, and they are given the opportunity to see things more realistically, and can finally feel more at ease with themselves and with the world around them.

Currently accepting clients in New York State for teletherapy and in-person in NYC! We work with most major insurance companies--call/email us to find out if our services are covered. Kip Therapy is therapy for every identity. Together, we’ll define and work on the things that make it difficult to find your place in the world—like being queer, processing trauma, navigating your most important relationships, entering into adulthood and careers, or struggling with self-esteem. Kip was originally founded to fill a gap in mental health care for members of the LGBTQ+ community. Many members of the Kip team have lived experiences as LGBTQ+ people, and it remains one of the primary reasons clients work with us. Through a LGBTQ+ affirming lens, our therapists focus on what makes you unique and how your experiences--your history, your identity, your culture--shape who you are and what you may be struggling with. Kip is a trailblazer in the mental health industry, serving clients in New York State. Since 2013, we’ve been rethinking and redesigning therapy for the 21st century. Our work is shaped by three guiding principles: Include-We provide care for individuals who have been excluded from traditional therapy, particularly members of the LGBTQ+ community. Invest-We offer training and support for emerging therapists to improve quality of care and unlock new opportunities for diverse clinicians. Innovate-We boldly push the field of psychotherapy forward, and evolve our own approach based on the latest best practices.
Being a student can bring a lot of pressure, uncertainty, and emotional weight. If you are feeling stuck, anxious, or carrying pain that is hard to explain, you are not alone. I am here to support you and help you make sense of what you are experiencing in a way that feels honest and respectful. My approach is trauma informed, queer affirming, and non-more pathologizing. I believe your symptoms make sense in the context of your experiences. Together we will explore those patterns with care and curiosity, not judgment. I draw from EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Eastern philosophy to support healing, growth, and connection to your values. This work is always shaped by you, your story, your pace, and your goals. If you are ready to begin or just curious about starting, I would be happy to connect.
