Therapists for college students near 97203
My heart's work is connecting with people, holding space for their hurt, and empowering them to reach towards a connected, integrated life. My ideal client is someone who is curious about WHY troubling symptoms exist in the first place; someone who is ready to either step into therapy for the first time (hurrah!) or to step away from traditional talk therapy and begin deeper, more profound healing from the bottom up instead of the top down; someone who is wanting to feel more connected to themselves and others, and to feel more joy. I specialize in treating trauma, dissociative disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, and life disturbances of all kinds. I have obtained extensive advanced training in EMDR, dissociative disorders, preverbal trauma, and somatic experiencing. I use EMDR psychotherapy as the framework for my practice and have witnessed amazing results. Jung said "Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul be just another human soul." I will create and hold space for you to just be, and you will find me a warm, experienced, intuitive presence. We will work together to move you towards a more connected, joyful, playful life. I can't wait to meet you!
I provide therapy for people navigating anxiety, depression, grief, and emotional overwhelm, with a focus on practical support and meaningful change. I offer a warm, collaborative space where we focus on nervous system regulation, strengthening boundaries, and developing more effective ways of responding to difficult thoughts and emotions. I work with teens, adults and college students seeking support for depression, grief, emotional overwhelm, relationship concerns, and life transitions. I also work with long-standing patterns shaped by stress or trauma, and support individuals living with chronic illness or ongoing health challenges, including women experiencing midlife or hormonal changes. I provide therapy in English and Español. As a therapist of color, my work is grounded in compassion and social justice. I work with immigrant and marginalized communities, including BIPOC, first-generation individuals, activists, and LGBTQIA+ clients. I support clients in building steadiness and agency. If you’re looking for this kind of support, I invite you to reach out.
I identify as a queer woman and specialize with LGBT folks. Poly and kink friendly! I may be a good fit for you if you want a therapist who is genuine, transparent, warm, and friendly, who sees you as a unique individual and tailors our work to identify and meet your needs. I bring a social justice lens and understanding of systems of oppression into therapeutic work. I will tell you what I am thinking, will challenge you intellectually, and actively engage with you. I will be open and honest in answering your questions, work collaboratively with you, describe our options, and check in often. Clients often tell me that our work has helped them to sort through their thoughts and feelings to gain clarity, to grow, to learn about themselves, to develop confidence, and to feel empowered to make important decisions. I employ a flexible approach tailored to the needs of each client. I also provide assessments/letters for gender affirming surgery. It is difficult to find the right therapist based on a short profile! Feel free to contact me with any questions. I am currently accepting clients for telehealth only. I accept Aetna, GEHA, Pacific Source, and Meritain insurance and out of network insurance benefits.

Are you struggling to find your way while dealing with family expectations? Is it hard to feel like what you’re doing is “enough”? Maybe you’re struggling with anxious thoughts or conflict with important people in your life. That is understandable. The experience of being first-gen has its own unique challenges. Sometimes family doesn’t understand what you're experiencing and that can feel isolating. As a bilingual/bicultural therapist, I have firsthand experience with the challenges of trying to succeed in college while also being the first in the family to step into these spaces. I'm here to support you through these challenging times and together we can find solutions and healthy ways of managing life. Finding the right therapist is so important; feel free to reach out to me to see if I may be the right for you.
Hello, I’m Emma (she/they) and I'm glad you're here! I support LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients, and those working through burnout, religious trauma, life transitions, and grief. I especially love working with highly masking folks who are ready to confront burnout and live more authentically! My approach as a counselor is collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in curiosity, compassion, and social justice. My hope to create a space where you don’t have to filter or shrink yourself—where we can explore what matters to you, dismantle what doesn’t, and help you feel more at home in your life and body. My style is eclectic and anchored in self-exploration, cultural awareness, and self-compassion. I draw from frameworks like IFS, Feminist, and Existential Therapy that explore how our different parts intersect and how the world around us shapes our reality, values, and relationships. Therapy with me highlights authenticity, compassion, depth and laughter.
William Temple House works with 26 or more volunteer, staff, and intern therapists to provide affordable counseling to the people of Portland. We offer sessions for low or no cost - our hope is that finances are not ever a barrier to people receiving counseling. We are committed to providing supportive and impactful counseling services that are based on the client's preference and need. Our services are all person-centered, strengths-focused, and trauma-informed. Because we work with so many therapists the information about our providers, modalities and approaches, and specialties changes regularly - if you are looking to work with someone of a particular identity or specialty that you do not see listed now, check back in the future. All of our counselors are trained and supported to work with people of identities different from their own with intentionality, sensitivity, and thoughtfulness and they all undergo continuous supervision to ensure they are meeting the needs of the individuals they work with.
I work with students navigating anxiety, relationship struggles, family dynamics, identity questions, and the pressures inherent in being in college like how hard it is to have it all figured out or to transition to new phases of life. My approach is grounded in warmth and honesty, using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) to help you feel seen, supported, and be able to really access your emotions and thoughts with out judgement. I care deeply about this time in your life and believe meaningful change happens when we feel safe enough to be ourselves, even the messy parts.
***Currently serving individuals in California and Oregon*** Hello! My name is Carlota, and I am a social justice advocate; a believer in science; a fierce and overly-obsessed dog mom to two wacky pups; an immigrant; and steadfast in my conviction that we have a fundamental obligation to help one another if we have the means and capacity to do so. I am a licensed clinical social worker, and have been in practice since 2013. I completed my undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley in 2008, and received my Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2013 from the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. I embrace evidence-based and research-supported therapies, while also honoring the power of the therapeutic relationship and process. I specialize in trauma and PTSD, depression, Bipolar Disorder, anxiety and panic, grief and loss, interpersonal difficulties, and life transitions. I am a trained teacher of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and am certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD and Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Depression (IPT-D). My goal is to make it as easy as possible by building trust together, letting you lead the process, helping you know what to expect, and being warm and candid. I have experience working with people throughout their lifespan. Specifically, I am passionate about supporting young adults in high school and college, men and women struggling with trauma, depression, grief, and anxiety, and folks in the outdoor industry. I employ an eclectic approach based in Existential Counseling, Person Centered Therapy, CBT, DBT, and I have specialized training in EMDR. I hold a Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree from Oregon State University. I have been serving the Central Oregon community since 2014, and I’m excited to expand that support to all of Oregon, virtually. Either way, my hope is that you walk away from our sessions feeling heard, empowered, and having a deeper sense of clarity and direction. Please reach out, I'm eager to hear from you
Dr. Rademan starts treatment with a thorough and detailed inventory of life experiences that could be contributing to current concerns. She also explores body pain and chronic health concerns as those can be impacted by trauma and emotional wounding. Just like with physical health, mental health can be impacted by earlier 'injuries' that flare up later in life. Many people have been in and out of therapy throughout their life and haven't found sustained relief due to not healing the root issue or concern. At the foundation of treatment, Dr. Rademan utilizes a trauma and cognitive focused framework. Trauma is not only major violence or death, but can also be a loss of a relationship, not getting your needs met when you were a child, or ongoing major stressors. Trauma can be described as anything that significantly changed the way you view yourself or the world.
