Danielle Burrowes
I specialize in supporting adults navigating OCD, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, and bipolar disorder. My focus is on understanding the whole person—your experiences, strengths, and challenges—rather than just symptoms. I believe that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process, and I adapt my style based on what resonates best with you, whether that means a more structured approach or a more exploratory, insight-oriented conversation. My goal is to empower you with tools and understanding you can carry beyond our sessions. Supporting patients in developing coping skills, accessing resources, and maintaining hope during difficult times inspires me. I am deeply committed to reducing stigma and ensuring that mental healthcare is accessible, compassionate, and tailored to your unique needs. Outside of work, I like to engage in activities that help me feel relaxed and present. Sometimes that means going for a walk outdoors to clear my mind. Other times, I might read a good book, listen to music, or spend time with friends and family.

As a first-generation Latina and hard-of-hearing Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), I'm passionate about creating an authentic, one-of-a-kind space where you can work toward autonomy, healing, and personal growth. I've worked with patients across a wide range of ages, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, disability statuses, and mental health challenges, building a safe and empowering space where we can explore your experiences and goals together. Sessions are available in both English and Spanish. Since graduating in 2021, my work has focused on trauma, relational dynamics, interpersonal and intersectional frameworks, identity-building, reconstructing personal narratives, existential processing of life stages, challenging core beliefs, and exploring the systemic and cultural factors that can affect mental health. In all of this work, I'm committed to bringing a holistic, socially just, and collaborative perspective to our sessions, so that therapy feels like a safer, non-judgmental, and meaningful experience for you. Transparency and honesty are central to how I show up in the therapeutic space, because direct communication, accountability, and openness create the kind of supportive environment where real self-growth can happen. In my approach to therapy, I believe the interpersonal experience is key to understanding your unique narrative, perspectives, and intersecting identities, and that understanding is what helps build real insight into the mental health challenges and life experiences you're facing. Supporting your self-reflection, change, curiosity, self-growth, and self-acceptance is at the heart of what I hope our work together can offer. To meet you where you are, I draw on an eclectic mix of approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic, interpersonal, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), multicultural, trauma-informed, Internal Family Systems (IFS), relational, person-centered, and narrative therapy. Creative arts, mindfulness, psychoeducation, and humility are also part of how I practice. My path to becoming a therapist began with my own personal challenges with mental health and with how therapy shaped my well-being along the way. Those experiences deepened my desire and commitment to help others with their own mental health journeys. Transitioning from the patient's chair into my therapist's hat gave me a unique, firsthand understanding of the challenges you might face along the way, and it's part of why I'm committed to helping you empower yourself, challenge what's holding you back, and approach your own personal and emotional well-being with humility. When I’m not wearing my therapist hat, I enjoy reading, cooking, dancing, creative arts, makeup artistry, spending time with my dog Zelda, and collecting anything Snoopy related!

Do you want to better understand yourself and the patterns shaping your thoughts, emotions, and relationships, while also developing tools to cope with life's challenges? As a mental health counselor, I help you achieve just that. I specialize in helping patients across the lifespan navigate issues with anxiety, depression, trauma, stress management, ADHD, relationship concerns, interpersonal challenges, identity issues, life transitions, and self-esteem. My goal is to meet you where you are, to help you feel more confident, connected, and empowered to create change in your life. One of the most important parts of therapy is having a space where you feel heard, understood, and accepted without judgment, and I strive to build that kind of relationship by working alongside you. You don't need to know exactly what you want to say or have everything figured out before coming to therapy. Together, we can explore what you're experiencing, develop a deeper understanding of yourself and the patterns in your life, build tools for navigating challenges, and identify changes that feel meaningful to you. Above all, therapy should feel like a space that is truly yours, where your individual needs, experiences, strengths, and goals guide the work we do together. I work from a person-centered, integrative, and trauma-informed foundation, drawing from a variety of therapeutic modalities and evidence-based techniques based on each patient's individual needs rather than believing that one approach works for everyone. Empathy, authenticity, and collaboration are central to my practice, as I'm passionate about creating a space where you feel genuinely heard and understood while gaining insight, building on your strengths, and developing tools that support growth. In our sessions, expect a warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself. My style is compassionate, conversational, and curious, while also being active and engaged in the therapeutic process. Psychoeducation and practical tools such as coping skills, grounding, Mindfulness, and emotional regulation techniques are part of that work, helping you better understand and manage what you're experiencing. I also incorporate psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), and other approaches based on your individual needs. Together, we’ll explore deeper patterns, build insight, develop practical skills, and work toward the goals that matter most to you. My path to becoming a therapist grew from a curiosity about people and a genuine desire to understand and help others. From a young age, I spent time babysitting and tutoring children, including those with autism, ADHD, and other learning and developmental differences, and through those experiences, I discovered how meaningful it was to build connections, understand each person's individual needs, and find different ways to support them. This ultimately inspired me to pursue psychology and become a therapist. Today, I bring that same curiosity, empathy, patience, and openness into my work, enjoying the chance to get to know each patient as an individual, understand their perspective and experiences, and create a space where they feel comfortable being themselves. I love traveling, learning about different cultures, and trying new foods – I'm a big foodie! Pottery is one of my favorite creative outlets, and I also enjoy playing piano, listening to music, and going to concerts. Being outdoors is another passion, especially hiking and scuba diving, and I'm always excited to try new things and explore new places.

I have worked at different university counseling centers in the past, including California College of the Arts, Barnard College, Columbia University, the Graduate Center of CUNY, and last in the role of assistant director of the counseling center at Fordham University. I have been in private practice for 20 years now, where I see many undergraduate and graduate students. The goal of my work with you is to help you make your life more fulfilling. Good psychotherapy will alleviate your personal suffering, and make you more resourceful emotionally and practically. It will strengthen your capacity to negotiate relationships, to love, and feel more alive and connected. I respect your intelligence, and aim for us to be collaborators in the process of psychotherapy. I listen closely to you and share my questions and observations with you. I am a psychoanalyst certified by NYU, where I received four awards. I completed advanced training in couple's therapy (White Institute). Joseph Hovey
I'm Joe. I'm a kind, compassionate therapist who works well with folks who are curious about who they are and what kind of life they want to build. With this spirit of curiosity we can explore what has gotten in your way and where you want to go: how your past coping methods served you then, but not now; how we can improve your ability to communicate with yourself and others; how to feel more centered and clear on your desires and goals. I have special experience and ability to support folks in the queer, trans and broader LGBTQ+ communities. I also support relationship systems (including both monogamous couples and open/poly systems) with navigating their challenges in work, love, and play. Throughout all my work, I practice from an anti-oppression and anti-racism mindset. If anything above sparked your interest, and you think I might be able to help, let's find a time to connect.

With ten years of experience as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I help individuals facing chronic stress and survivors of trauma navigate emotional regulation and recovery, leading to long-term healing. Additional specialties include treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and bipolar disorder in children, adolescents, and adults. My work is grounded in providing thoughtful, evidence-based care that supports individuals and families across the lifespan. I believe in collaboration and shared decision-making at all times, which helps me be an engaged partner in your care. I look forward to helping you gain clarity, confidence, and a sense of agency as we move through this process together. I'm passionate about making mental health care accessible, clear, and empowering for every patient. That’s why I ensure a holistic approach that’s thoughtful, thorough, data-driven, compassionate, and patient-centered, so care is tailored to your unique life experience and goals. Working together, you can expect a compassionate and non-judgmental environment that empowers your healing journey. My specialties are in comprehensive psychiatric care and medication management, providing you with the tools and best-practice guidelines that help you achieve your personal, professional, and familial goals. My path to becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner began in my early 20s, when I worked as a direct support provider for adolescents with autism spectrum disorder and their families. Supporting families as they navigated the challenges of daily life and witnessing their struggle to access high-quality psychiatric care for their family members inspired me to pursue advanced training in psychiatric nursing. Those early experiences shaped my understanding of what compassionate, accessible mental health care can mean for individuals and their families. That formative period continues to deepen my commitment to providing the kind of thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care every person deserves today. I enjoy playing guitar and love experiencing live music across all genres. Ice hockey is another passion of mine, and I'm an avid movie fan who appreciates everything from indie films to big screen blockbusters.

Casey Nordberg
Welcome! I'm Casey Nordberg, a Limited Permit Mental Health Counselor (MHC-LP) in Brooklyn. I work with individuals of all ages, specializing in trauma, attachment and relationship issues, and life transitions. With a background working with families in child welfare and private practice, I bring a nuanced perspective to the therapeutic space, creating a safe environment for a diverse population of patients to explore the experiences that have shaped who they are today. This person-centered, compassion-driven lens supports those navigating emotional struggles, relationship challenges, and feelings of stagnation. In a fast-moving city that often rewards us for pushing forward at the expense of our well-being, taking the step to seek support shows real bravery, and I don't take that courage and trust lightly. I believe everyone has lived experience worth exploring with care, and I'm honored to help you find insight into your history and clarity on the steps ahead as I get to know you and we start this journey together. I am dedicated to meeting you where you are, centering your experiences as we work together to understand and move through what's difficult. Because life's ruptures most often occur in the context of relationships, I believe that building a healing, reparative relationship is one of the most important parts of therapy. That’s why I lead with empathy and warmth, taking a holistic, culturally humble approach, integrating relational and psychodynamic work with evidence-based strategies like motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness techniques, so that treatment can be tailored to what actually fits your life. In our work together, we'll collaborate to understand and gently challenge the thought patterns and behaviors that keep you feeling stuck, while honoring the role these strategies have played in helping you survive difficult experiences in the past. From there, we'll find the tools and coping skills that feel right for you, working toward clarity, self-compassion, and meaningful, sustainable change. My path to becoming a therapist began with stressful experiences within my own family growing up: illness and loss, family members' mental illness and substance misuse, and the complex relational dynamics that come with intergenerational trauma and colliding cultural norms. This experience shaped my interest in child and family mental health, and my drive to walk alongside people of all ages as they make sense of what they've been through. Outside of the therapy room, I love spending time in nature, exploring parks around the city on walks, going on runs, and picnics. Coming from a family of artists and creatives, I enjoy dancing to live music, visiting art museums, and painting with watercolors. On lower-key days, I adore curling up with a cup of tea, a good book, and my two cats.

Elevate CBT
-Are you struggling with the transition to a more independent phase of life? -Are you overwhelmed by the transition to college and balancing everything on your own for the first time? -Do you feel like everyone else but you has somehow figured out “adulting”? -Are you getting into conflicts with your parents, feeling like they still view you as a child? Many young adults feel alone in these experiences, with the idea that everyone else seems to “have it all together.” Transitions such as graduating high school, starting college, starting your first job, experiencing your first relationship, and working towards being financially independent are all exciting moments in time, but they can also bring stress and uncertainty. College students might be thrown by how much harder academic life is than in high school, no longer having the structure and accountability provided by teachers or parents. Making friends in a new setting may also be harder than you expected, leading to feelings of failure. Especially since having a social life with peers can feel even more important when you’re far from home. Coming home from college for the summer or winter break, many people are thrown by the fact that their friends have grown and evolved in ways that may be different than them, making friendships feel different. If things aren’t working out as you expected, you may start to feel down or depressed, or a sense of isolation and loneliness. That’s where we enter in. We’d love to help you feel a little less alone in this phase of life and to start working through the challenges you’ve been dealing with. At Elevate CBT, we specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on addressing thinking and behavioral patterns that may be keeping you stuck and preventing you from having the life you want. It’s a very goal-driven kind of therapy, so your therapist will work with you to identify what is currently a struggle in your life, and what you want to work towards to have a more satisfying life. We have helped many young adults in therapy work towards finding their “people” and figuring out aspects of their identities, improving academic organization and decreasing procrastination, creating a more balanced relationship with alcohol or weed, and asserting independence from parents while still being respectful of the ways in which parental support may still be needed. We also specialize in working with young adults with anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, OCD, BFRBs (hair pulling and skin picking), trauma, and eating/body image concerns. Our goal is to create a comfortable environment for you to learn more about yourself, your emotions, and how to change behavior in the direction of your desired goals. Balancing self-compassion with pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone, we will work together to help you achieve the life you want.

Brooks Perkey
MANY OF US GO THROUGH LIFE as are our own harshest critics. We speak to ourselves in ways we wouldn't dare speak to a friend or loved one. Together, you and I can uncover the negative thoughts and beliefs you may hold and work to replace them with kinder, more empowering truths. You deserve to be your own biggest cheerleader, and I'll be right there behind you. OR, PERHAPS YOU'RE STRUGGLING to accept a difficult change or loss. I am here to say that you are not alone, and that hope for a positive, fulfilling future exists. While it may temporarily feel easier to avoid the grief that comes with such change and loss, I am here to sit with you in your toughest emotions. As we practice weathering the storm rather than fighting against it or running from it, we can help you adapt to your new reality, find meaning, and reconnect with your purpose and well-being. MY APPROACH IS COLLABORATIVE, client-centered, and strengths-based. I believe that a trusting therapeutic relationship serves as the foundation for all of the work that we will do together. Therefore, the process of building that trust and learning about your unique experiences, needs, and strengths is pivotal. As we personalize your therapy journey, it is my goal for your authentic self to feel affirmed and uplifted.
