I approach my work with clients as a collaborative process, with empathy and trust as the most important factors. I find genuine connection to be healing, and I feel fortunate to provide that for clients in supporting them through self exploration and overcoming challenges. I believe anyone can benefit from counseling, whether it’s to sort through past experiences, deal with current struggles, or work towards future goals. Taking an integrative style to therapy, I am able to adjust my approach to the unique needs of each client.
Hi, I’m Liz! I’m a Licensed therapist (LCSW) and Certified Clinical Sports Social Worker - and founder of MENTL.SESH. I help people accomplish their goals, reconnect with their sense of self, boost confidence, and improve mental fitness by meeting them where they are at in their mental health journeys. Working with athletes, high performers and creatives to manage anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and challenging life situations are my areas of specialty. Therapy should feel fulfilling and the last thing I want for my clients is for therapy to feel like a chore. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for working toward and achieving therapeutic goals, so I encourage you to feel all the feels, speak your mind, and be yourself in sessions. Therapy with me is a collaborative process and I want any clients who work with me to feel that they are heard and supported. Throughout the therapy process, we will explore both the highs and lows, whether that be through identifying thought patterns, behavioral patterns, current and past experiences, or self-care and coping skills. I'm a firm believer that healing is not linear and acknowledging the good is equally important to living your best life. I aim to have a down-to-earth, strengths-based & integrative approach and will most definitely throw in a few sports and pop culture references, thinking outside of the box, and use humor when appropriate. I received my Master’s in Social Work degree from NYU and have advanced training in, Sports Social Work interventions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Trauma Focused -Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, trauma-informed practice, Functional Family therapy, and more.
I've been a psychologist for more than 25 years. I trained at Cornell Medical Center, earned my doctorate from Yeshiva University, and sat on the Board of the Suffolk County Psychological Association from 2017 to 2021. I utilize a variety of modalities including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Comprehensive Behavioral Model (ComB), Behavioral Therapy and Social Skills Training, and tailor the most appropriate treatment to the patient based upon the individual’s needs. I treat adults with such issues as anxiety, bereavement, depression, trauma, medical issues, Trichotillomania, skin picking, ADHD, LGBQ issues, and college transition.
S H A D O W L I G H T CENTER is a holistic and alternative approach to traditional talk therapy. We offer sessions on Zoom. We are both POC as well as racial justice and LGBTQIA+ allies devoted to deconstructing systems of harm to humans and non-humans resulting from racial, heteronormative, and hierarchical power structures. We are licensed in New York to provide therapy and practice holistic help to people outside of New York State. We integrate the mind-body-spirit (this is not a faith-based approach). We are trauma-informed and create safe spaces for you to be heard for issues large and small that college students face both in and beyond college. We weave mindfulness, somatic awareness, ancestral healing, spiritual connection, finding purpose, grief counseling, energy balancing, post-psychedelic therapy integration, and more. We specialize in helping people understand how mental health issues like depression, anxiety, etc. are related to ancestral traumas, the pain present on the earth right now, as well as our personal histories. Conventional Western wisdom says it’s only about the self, i.e. a "chemical imbalance". But wellness is more complex and inter-connected than we have been made to believe. Take heart! I want to say it is our actual, living birthright to heal any disempowering history, whether circumstantial, or chronic. Over the years, students have come with trauma, depression, anxiety, identity and spiritual concerns, academic pressures, relationship, family, and work conflicts - each can begin to shift as we change our familiar thoughts, feelings, and relationship to the past. This is the contract we honor in a therapeutic partnership. I have made it my life's work to train with the originators of powerful techniques engaging the mind, heart, and spirit - from the unconscious to the transpersonal - so that you can step out of your own way, & shift into relief, and resolution! This is the work we have been accomplishing together in therapeutic alliance for 25+ years. The best way to reach me is (845)256-0047.

I am inspired by every individual's ability to be self aware, vulnerable and resilient. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy and mindfulness-based interventions. I graduated from the University of Rochester with my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have experience working in non-profit mental health clinic settings serving children, teens and young adults. My expertise includes anxiety, depression, grief/loss, stress management, relationship difficulties, adjusting to life transitions, interpersonal skill development, and self-esteem building. We will work to build a strong therapeutic relationship, and to together determine the goals you wish to accomplish throughout your therapeutic journey. Each time we meet, we work collaboratively to process any past or current stressors that may be impacting your ability to be your best self. As your therapist, I will work at your desired pace but I will also guide and challenge you as needed. I value a strong therapeutic relationship and come to every session with warmth, compassion and high energy (and there's always time for a good laugh as well)!
Providing a safe and validating space for others is a value of mine. This has lead me to pursuing a Doctorate in Psychology and thus far 8 years of experience. Throughout my training and career, I've always gravitated towards the college/graduate school population. I've especially appreciated working with students on relationships, identity, and self-love. Being a South-Asian, I've also enjoyed exploring cultural/ethnic/racial identity with clients. In a therapy session my approach is inviting, warm, curious, and a grounding presence. I strongly believe clients are experts on themselves; hence my approach to therapy is empowering and encouraging clients to lean into experiences to meet their goals. I like to use the metaphor that my clients are in the driver's seat and I'm there to support them as they explore where they want to go. Along with a multicultural lens, some therapeutic orientations I often pull from are CBT, ACT, and IFS. Gift-giving is important in many cultures and hence the gift I want to give clients is hope, validation, and safety. I also strive to plant the seeds of empowerment and self-love in clients and continue to nurture that together throughout our sessions. I encourage clients to try out various exercises/skills in between sessions to continue to meet their goals. Overall I hope a client leaves our sessions feeling supported, heard, and respected.
